I have a had this phone for a while and it has been really great and held up nice. But lately it has been making me get on the internet to recieve text messages so I went to the sprint store and asked them to fix it...I assumed it would be an easy fix but they came back saying that it had water damage this made me very frustrated because I didnt care if it had water damage I wanted them to fix the texxt messaging. So if anyone knows why I am being sent a web page for all of my texts instead of just being able to read them in my inbox, please let me know. Thanks.
Wow, that sounds like your phone reverted back to shortmail, didnt think water damage could cause that.

Sounds like an odd thing to be caused by water damage. Maybe the water damage is the reason they won't look at your phone - not the reason it's not working right.
Have you tried taking the battery off for a few minutes?

Yeah, sorry not to specify that..the reason they won't look at my phone is because of the water damage. I doubt that the water damage caused this problem. It has been like this for a while and yes, i have taken out the battery for a "couple" of minutes.
edit: I have a SPH-A680

Can you send text messages from your phone?

Yes, I can send Texts and I don't have to get on the internet for that...only to receive do I have to get on the internet and when i receive them the number I receive them from is only 4 digits long
Sorry but i dont think any of us has ever come across this problem, maybe you could have a tech reflash the phone's software.

When all else fails call tech support. Maybe it is a network issue. When and why or how did this start happening?

I think I will call tech support but I have no idea why this started happening but it has been like this for a while now.

Welcome to Sprint Users! :wavey:
Like suggested, I would back up your contacts and ask a tech to reflash the phone as it sounds like a software problem.

Maybe the question to ask is has the phone ever been water damaged? If the phone has been water damaged and you don't have insurance, you are out of luck. On the other hand, if you swear that the phone has been well cared for and never been exposed to water take it to a different store to see if they will help you out.

This is interesting. My wife's Samsung RL-A760 has done this for a while too. After opening up the handset and checking for any corrosion, I found none. Reflashing the software did nothing for her handset. No 3rd party apps/ringtones/screen savers either. We went to the store and the SrRCC there (One of only two I trust with my account ;) ) and he tried some expiring and reattaching text messaging to make the system "repopulate" and possibly fix the odd issue.
Didn't happen. My wife dealt with it. She's eligible for her $150 off now and I am researching the whole Grandfathered Vision to Power Vision issue before we buy.
