View Full Version : SERO Plan Adds Treo 700wx - Better than 700p?

The SERO website has now added (or reinstated?) the Treo 700wx to the lineup of phones available with these plans. The 700p had been there all along.

So - which would be better? The Windows version or the Palm version? I want to be able to do streaming audio from radio station websites, in addition to email, web surfing and phone calls.

Or - should I wait for the Q to get on the list? (I may have a long wait.)

Well, I personally don't see how anyone could like the q. No touchscreen kills it, at least for me. I have a 700wx and absolutely love the thing. But I'm sure the 700p is a worthwhile option.

From what I read in reviews, the wx has "push email free out of the box" and is still easy to use one-handed for functions like checking messages.

Agree? Do you use it at all for accessing streaming audio or video?

Thanks

I would say it's relatively easy to use one handed, at least for making calls, texting etc.

As far as push email, yes, it doesn't cost anything for you to push email to the 700wx, well unless your service provider that provides the push service on the other end charges. But mail2web is free I think?

And I have not used it for streaming audio.

The major differences I found are outlined here:

They actually took the 700p off the SERO site, so the wx is the only model available on the plan.

I found a third-party program for radio streaming that should be just what I need, that works on the Windows side, so I went ahead and ordered the 700wx.

Thanks everyone!

What program is that? I'd like to try it, I love listening to SomaFM.
I'm pretty sure, BTW, that Windows Media Player can open urls that are links to streams; can anyone confirm this?

The one I'm hearing about is Resco Pocket Radio (see www.resco.net).

Yes, WMP can open urls and streams
I usually find good stations there:

Coming from the 700p the q was a refreshing change for me. I love the absence of the touchscreen because I always found my phone dialing in my purse because the keyguard hadnt come on yet....So it is just different strokes for different folks... :headbang2

Back to the subject I liked my 700p just hated it was so big ...but the trade off was it did everything I needed.
