I have the 8400 right now. Love the phone. But i have been wanting a treo, q, or ppc for a while. My question is. Which one should i get? I want something dependable, and somthing i can easily use. Which one?

Research the devices and find out which one works for you. You have pull out keyboards, palm os's, wm5 os's w/ touch screens, wm5 os's w/o touchscreens, big keyboard, small keyboard, built in wifi, more memory, less memory... you just need to figure out what fits you better and what size you're looking for. it'd go from 6700/samsung ip-830w, treo 650, 700p, 700wx, moto q

Also go to www.phonescoop.com to compare the phones side to side in a comparison chart

as far as smart phones, I'm attracted to the Q, however, the advice posted here is the best

Which one? Take a serious look at the "Q" or Treo 700p / 700wx. IMO, the Treo700p is the best of the bunch especially if you like the option of a touch screen. The 700wx is a fine choice but WM5 really needs a higher resolution screen to be really functional.

Perhaps i'm biased as I use a Dell Axim PDA w/ WM5 everyday and it has a 640x480 screen. The 700wx at 240x240 just seems odd to me. The Palm (700p) version has a 320x320 screen and is excellent in comparison.

The "Q" is easier to type txt on due to the better spacing of the qwerty keys (if you have stocky fingers). But again, low resolution on the screen but thin and light.

The 6700 is a consideration but just too bulky IMHO.

the Q is another motorola hunk of junk. just take a look at the quality of other moto's (aside from nextel. they are durable with horrible hardware)

I thought this way as well. But, I have been very impressed with the Q so far, a little over 24 hours. I am not sure if it will replace my 8703 yet or not. I really like having a camera with me and the Q's camera is one of the best I have used on a camera phone yet. The biggest negative so far is the lack of the picture mail app. I know I can use pocktoutlook but it adds just enough steps to be a bit of a pain in the rear.

I am not sure if I will keep the Q or not yet. It is alot weaker on the messaging side, vs. the BB, but the form factor is so much better. hrmmm.... decisions.. decisions...

I use a separate PDA, I love it, but my husband will barely carry a phone let alone 2 devices so I need to get him a PDA phone, one compatable with all our windows and office stuff. WHich then? For a novice phone user, but he is an IT guy.

I would say get the Q for him and let him try it for a couple of weeks and if that doesn't work exchange it for something else. It is a pretty good compromise between phone and pda. If you want something a little more pda like I would get the 700p.

Good advice here. The other negative on the Q is the poor battery life compared to the Treos. If you don't do a lot of calls or internet, it should be alright. If you do, a Treo is a better option.

Not sure how much bigger you want your phone to be in size considering physics still outweights software in any battery efficiency discussion.
The Q's 4 hrs is good for any phone IMO. Esp. if you turn off some the program running in the background.

IMO: the Q is a good compromise between phone & pda for the non power users. The Win Mobile 5 for Smartphone could be less buggy.

The picture mail thing is annoying but then if you are a real photo enthusiast, you wouldn't be using a picture phone.

Lack of SprintTV to watch the often mentioned & branded NFLNetwork alliance is a real downer.

Can the Q get an extended battery, I realize that defeats the purpose of its sleakness but is it possible.

I'm also looking for a smart phone. Preferably the ppc 6700. Where's the best place to get a good price for one. I'm looking for a refurb or a used one because i'm not eligible for any discounts. HELP

First off, best place would be here on SU.com in the Phones for sale section. Also go to www.howardforums.com and check their classifieds for deals.

I'm sure you can, your best bet to check and see if there's an extended battery for the Q would be www.motorola.com, www.everythingq.com, www.qusers.com and www.verizonwireless.com under all their accessory sections...
