My wife and I got Sanyo 8400s a few weeks ago, and I have taken a lot of pictures. Today, for some reason, most of the pictures I've taken outside are green and black -- very dark and hard to make out any details. I have not changed any of the camera settings at all.
Does anyone know why this would suddenly start happening and, most importantly, how to fix it? I checked the camera settings, and they are all set to "auto" which, I believe, is the factory default.
Already been addressed, try to keep as much sunlight out of your camera lens as possible.

Thanks!
I have the same thing on my 8400s (we have 3).
If you take a picture outside in VERY bright sunlight the camera gives you back this horrible green/black photo.
In outside normal light the pictures seem ok.
When you take pictures inside I hope you like yellow / orange hues --- because that's what the phone will give you.

I have the same thing. I have heard that some people do NOT have this problem, but I do find it hard to believe. There's not much to do about the green blur stuff. Just make sure the sun or illuminated clouds/glare is not in the picture. You can take sunset/sunrise pictures okay if the sun has dimmed enough though.
As for the inside yellow tint. There's no fix except "photoshoping" the picture on your pc later. I have noticed however that when the camera is on the normal setting and you are inside under fluorescent lighting the skin tones are correct or if not "correct" they look good to me. But if you go into the white balance controls and set the camera to fluorescent lighting...the skin tones are back to the sickly yellow hue again.

My 8400 will take pictures outside and they are not always green/black. The only time that I've noticed the green/black is in VERY direct and bright sunlight. This happened twice to me and all other times the pictures are average/mediocre which is ok with me since I use them for picture mail and not potraits.

i had the same problem with my 8400 and took it to radio shack to check it. they made some calls, etc. but anyhow, i found by accident, that, if i change my picture mode setting to night/dark, that the pictures in bright sunny setting now come out normal. i can live with that and am now completely satisfied with this camera.

I will try changing the setting to night/dark to see if that works.
I should have been more specific with my original problem, though. When I got the phone, ALL outdoor daylight pictures were fine. Now ALL outdoor daylight pictures are green/black. That seems like more than a settings problem since none were changed.
