i am considering buying a laptop soon....i am frequently in digital roam/data roam areas.....if i add the PAM option for my sammy m500....will i get internet access on my laptop just like my phone does?

also, is there any benefit to using PAM over buying a data card and unlimited data plan?? is PAM unlimited data usage too?

thanks!

They're both unlimited - and with PAM you get unlimited data on your phone as well as on your laptop. PAM is cheaper - $40 a month instead of $50 (or $60). If you're also paying for the line it's a wash, but you can use data (and voice) on the phone. I was going to get a data card (I have the Kyocera KR1 router) but changed my mind and got a Sanyo MM-7500 to work with the router and use as a third line. - sheureka

I've got that all worked out - I have a voip phone - and that's the only number I ever give anyone. It simulrings with my Sprint phone, and I can just log onto the website to change which phone gets the forward. Works great for me! - sheureka

I am on a family plan, can I get PAM on one phone or all? and if all then is it per phone?

Also how do you add it, I do not see anything anywhere about PAM on Sprints site.

Also you mentioned unlimited on the phone as well, so does that mean I can browse till my hearts content on the phone to? including programs that access the internet?

I added it to one of the lines on my family plan yesterday - you have to call in to get it added. And if they start telling you weird stuff like you have to pay 20 cents a minute for calls or that it will be $49.99 a month, just tell them you changed your mind and call back. For some reason some of the reps seem to have a really hard time finding the PAM plans. - sheureka

sounds good, and what was the plan price/download limit you have?

I have three lines on the $60 550 minute F&F plan -

1 - PPC6700 with grandfathered Vision - $10 (u/l everything including picmail, vidmail, data, roaming, sms, etc.) plus old $5 TEP
2 - Sanyo 200 - $2 international calling
3 - Sanyo MM-7500 - $10 aap plus $40 pam (u/l data on phone and modem), free 500 messages, $5 picmail

It comes out to under $100 with my discounts. - sheureka

I too added a PAM line to my family plan....Got the wx for 199.00 from retension, was able to get it for free like the rest of my lines. i really like to have a PDA for Email and PAM and my regular cell for everything else. And if i going to a business meeting, I just take the Treo as it has all the same calling/txt feature of my primary.

I was able to get my NVP and Loyalty discounts applied to the line so with PAM and TEP this line cost me an extra 20-25$.

Better check something out people!

When I switched to a PAM plan on my 7400 late 05/early 06. I had to have PAM & a Vision Package if I wanted to surf on my phone as well as hook it up to my laptop.

When I got the PAM, I was told I could use it on phone browsing as well, I also then used my phone on the internet using Garmin and yahoo email, then my bill kept growing. Once the bill posted, I had $57.00 in DATA charges.

When I called in to see what was up, they rep told me I had to have PAM & a Vision Pack to be able to surf the web on my phone as well as my laptop.

So just be aware and make sure you don't get dinged! You KNOW SPCS likes to ding customers since most reps are clueless!

You don't need a Vision plan in addition to the PAM plan. Your plan was not set up right. When mine got set up they didn't charge me for data on the phone, but they did start charging me 20 cents a minute for phone calls! That's now all straightened out and I got some credit for my trouble. - sheureka

I just bought a sanyo M1 and had the 8300 regular vision-- i have the family plan now with the vision pack. they said I need the power vision pack which is more exspensive. but I need to access the web via PAM. your saying I dont need to purchase the power vision pack if I have PAM? what about my wifes phone that also has the regular vision pack for only 7.50 per month will that now raise in price if I cancel my vision pack and just get pam. One more question-- I also need to use my phone as modem to call my work 1800# to access their internet-- do I need pam for this too? Any help is greatly appreciated

I've continued the reduced rates on an aap no matter what I have on the other lines. If you have pam you get naked unlimited data access on both the phone and as a modem. If you want picture mail, messaging, etc., you have to pay extra for them (unless you can get them free somehow). I have three lines - one of them has a grandfathered vision plan ($10) with unlimited everything, the second has nothing but international calling ($2) and finally one has pam ($39.99), picmail ($5), and 500 messages (free). The first and third lines have evdo and the second line is voice only. They share 800 minutes. - sheureka

I concur with Shureka. If PAM is setup correctly, it covers Vision on both phone and tethering to laptop. Pic mail is addtional charge.

I had tech support setup for me as I also had trouble finding reps who knew what PAM was or how to link to my line.

so far it works greats I called sprint again and they said there were no data charges to my phone. I am roaming now and it still works albiet not broadband speed but better than dial up.. it is odd-- my phone says when it roams that "no data service available in this area" but it still works -- even the internet on the phone works. I had the 8300 and it didnt work at all when it was roaming but this phone does

I have a UL PAM plan and it does include Internet usage on the phone. I also had to add Pic Mail for $5. I was told one time it was included, so I cancelled the Pic Mail and then couldn't log into it, so I added it back.

funny thing= I now cannot access Pam or internet on phone when i manually go to roam where as I could for the last couple of days- maybe they caught on. but now - my sprint signal is about zero but if i let the phone go to roam on its own (automatic setting) then I can use Pam and phone internet-- weird huh
