Sorry if this was already asked several times, but I am a Sanyo MM-5600 owner who is debating switching to a Sanyo M1 and I was wondering what will happen with my plan. My only reason for getting the M1 over the Katana would be to use the higher speeds for web browsing, using apps and things like that. Being that I now have a Vision plan, would I have to upgrade to a Power Vision plan to be able to use the higher speeds? Also, my wife is on an add a phone to my plan with Vision. Her phone will not support Power Vision...if I have to switch how would that work. I am kinda confused on this and it would be great if someone could clarify this for me.

your phone plan will stay the same you will just have to update your vision plan, and if your vision plan has texting included youll have to add that too... most reps dont know how to add PV phones on old vision plans BUT it IS possible

What will updating my Vision plan entail? Will I have to pay an increase for it? and another increase for text and/or picture mail (right now it's included)? Also, what about my wifes regular vision plan?

Your wifes plan will stay the same, and shouldn't be affected by this.
Your plan will have to include the new powervision stuff, and yes, it does cost more.
This was the reason, I almost didn't get my 8400 when my 8200 was starting to feel it's age. I got luck, and found a phone rep, that understood my problem, and was able to help out. I simply explained that my phone was on it's last legs, I like the 8000 series, and just want to get the newer phone. I don't care about PV even though it's nice, and I've had grandfathered vision in my package since the release of the 8100. After I got the phone activated, I contacted her, and she put my phone back on Vision, not powervision. No additional charges, and no extra money for SMS.
I've heard that the backend computer systems have changed so I don't know that this is possible anymore.
BTW, even though my package is Vision, the phone still does PowerVision, in areas where PV is available. :)

So if I do not care about all that extra TV stuff, I should just to try to keep my current Vision Plan, and then I will still get the higher speeds and text/pics messages. That sounds like my ideal way to go. Has anyone done this recently????

what will happen is you have the 15 dollar vision plan now which includes picture mail.they will automatically change you to the 15 dollar powervision(which does not include picture mail and you will get a pop up notice that all of your pictures will be deleted if you dont add picture mail for 5 dollars).something to watch out for now is if you then accept the prompt to add the picture mail back you will then be at 20 dollars but will only be on basic powervision with a seperate 5 dollar charge for picture mail.so,to if you dont use picture mail do nothing and they will swap you to power vision basic.if you want the mail also, tell then right then to make it powervision plus and pay the 20 dollars.this has happened to me and i noticed that while both powervisions look like the same charges in the end powervision plus includes sprint tv.and your wife will stay at whatever rate she was at.

So according to what you are saying, I will not be able to just keep my Vision plan and use that?

Not if you want picture mail.

Depends on if you want a discount and where you buy it from. It is possible to keep your current plan with a PV phone. Just do not have a phone activated in a Sprint store or you will lose your old plan.

i'm also in a similar situation , and i have put off getting a new phone because I like my plan, and phone, and don't want to mess with either, and end up getting charged more money.
but my 535 is starting to flake out after almost 2 years :(
i have one of the old Free and Clear plans , which included 2000 minutes, free vision , picture mail, and like 100 txt messages a month, and a 25% business discount.
i also added a phone for my wife to my line, sharing the 2000 minutes + vision on her line for an extra $5..
so my whole bill after taxes comes to like $100 with the insurance also.
I also have like 4 months left till i'm eligible for my $150 instant rebate. Not sure what i should do, cuz i'd like to get the Moto Q for no more than $199 , and try to keep my plan around $100 also.
not sure if i should call retentions and get the moto Q from them, and try to negotiate a new plan at the same time or not.
any suggestions guys/girls?
