I need some guidance.

SORRY ABOUT THE NOVEL.

It's been a couple of years since my wife and I have upgraded our phones. Right now, I have the Sanyo MM 5600 and my wife has the Sanyo 7400.

Here is a little backround about me with Sprint. I have been with Sprint since late 1998. I started with the Qualcomm 2720. I tried different makers of phones, from Samsung and Sanyo. I returned two Samsung's because of poor reception, but this was a few years ago. I've always had good luck with Sanyo phones with reception, and they always seemed to be the flagships of Sprint, from my perspective, except for the last year or so. The last few phones I have had was the Sanyo VM4500, 5300 and now the 5600. I have always loved the gadgets that the phones have had to offer, from video, music, camera and the internet. But my main concern has always been about reception. I still have the 85 dollar plan with the 2000 minutes, 7 PM N & W, free long distance, unlimited PCS with video and Picture and free extra phone on the account with all these extras. Also free roaming and text messages. I have probably missed I few things I have.

In the last year my needs have changed a little. I travel a distance to work each day, over and hour each way, and use my phone a good amount of the time. The one thing I hate about my phone is the wired headsets, I need bluetooth. Reception is still the most important for me. I also still like to have the top of the line phones, but it must be a clamshell, because I have to keep my phone in my pocket all day because of where I work. The phones I have had have been way to heavy. One thing I need is a lighter phone.

My wife is easy, she says she wants a MOTO KRZR. Her friends have one, and she has tried it out and loved it. Once she makes up her mind there is no changing it.

So the problem comes with me making a decision of what to get. I have narrowed it down to the MOTO KRZR, Sanyo M1 and possibly the Samsung M610. Again, the money is not really the issue, my contract has been up for a while, both phones are over 2 years old since I did anything. Sprint alway seems to offer me great discounts or free phones each time I decide to get a new phone. I always talk to retention or cancellation for now what is called, I think. Especially, where I work offer a 13% discount for Verizon.

The reason I put the Samsung M610 last is because of my bad experiences in the past with Samsungs. I have alway loved Sanyo phones because of reliability and reception. Moto are nice and thin and seem well made, but I have heard of some problems with the KRZR.

Here is what I need from a phone.

Reception, Size(It needs to be light), EVDO(Power Vision, fast browser), Bluetooth(No more being wired), Good Media player(but not as important), good camera(just another gadget), but most important I need a good quality phone that I will be happy with at least another year or two.

By the way I live in Connecticut.

Let me know which phone of the three you think.

Right now I am leaning this way.

1. Sanyo M1
2. Moto KRZR
3. Samsung M610

I currently have a Sanyo mm-7400. I got an M610 last week but returned it due to poor reception. (In all fairness, I live in a poor reception area. --- I don't want the Samsung fans to start jumping on me! :p ) At any rate, the M610 did not get as good of reception as my MM7400. I have ordered the M1 and hope my results will be better.

You might want to check out the Samsung M610 vs. Sanyo M1 (http://www.sprintusers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=119965&highlight=m610) thread for additional input.

I've never used the Krzr. You might want to check out the Rants, Debates, & Comparisons (http://www.sprintusers.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=92) section.

I would get the M1. it has all the features you want and it has the coolest media player. you can minimize the media player and do other tasks while listing to music. it has bluetooth for handsfree and it also has stereo bluetooth for listing to your music wirelessly. also has 1gb of memory build in the phone so you get a good amount to put some on the phone. I would get the M1, you wont be disappointed especially coming from a Sanyo 5600. No extra money has to be shelled out for a memory card as all of it is on board, battery life is great, browser is fast and renders pages well, the media player has the minimize option allowing you to get on the phones web browser or text message while listening to music. Reception is awesome even with the internal antenna. I haven't had but one dropped call and that was when my phone was switching from Sprint service to digital roaming. The menus are fast and eye catching. But you wont be disappointed if you get this phone.

I've never used any of the phones you're looking at. But I'm a HUGE Sanyo fan, and am planning on getting the M1 myself. I most recently had an MM-5600, so I understand what you expect from a phone. Personally, I can't see any phone out there that will make me want to leave Sanyo again.

Well, I got my M1 last week. It is a light, solid phone, and they more I use it, the better I like it. It really feels good in my hand.

I get better reception than I did with my Sanyo RL4920, which itself was a big step-up in reception quality from my previous phones. In other words, this phone gets good reception, a concern I had when I ordered mine. I was very pleased. This is a good PHONE, along with the other stuff it does.

It comes equipped with everything you need to get started, including a charging USB cable, a headset with mic/adaptor so you can use your regular home stereo headphones with it, if you want.

The camera is great. I haven't used the video.
Bluetooth works effortlessly and well. I've paired it up with a Plantronics Voyager 510, and it works great. I have also heard that it works well with the Moto H700.

The layout of the external buttons could be better, as could the placement of the (good) camera. You quickly get used to these things, and they are not major annoyances.

I've had no problems with bugs, so far.

This is a really is a good phone - I love mine.

I had the Sanyo VM-4500/SCP-5500 for 3 years and when I found out the Sprint Store had them..... couldn't wait to drive the block it took. EVERY DAY I learn something new. Orb.com, camera, games, Copying movies, tv showes, stero bluetooth. On Demand movies showtimes for your zipcode ONE CLICK away. Sorry, I love the M1 paired with Sprint.

Is Sanyo hiring :)

I had a 5600 until my M1 arrived today. Ive only been messing with it for a little while, but it seems awesome. The camera is about a million times better, the media player is pretty much the same, except there are stereo speakers, the minimize option, and the controls on the outside, which the 5600 doesnt have.

i havent played with it enough to give a full review, but if youre used to the 5600, this is the perfect phone to upgrade to because a lot of things are very similar, and anything thats different is better.

i havent even touched the power vision yet, they told me to wait like 4 hours. but ill stat messing with it in a bit.

i say get this phone. its real nice looking too. smaller and lighter than the 5600.

Wait about 2.5 hours, it'll be ok by then.
