sanyo pm 8200 beeps intermittently

hello everyone ,
Im somewhat of a newbie and I need your help. Of late me pm 8200 beeps in different tones while the phone is on . It even beeps during a conversation. Also it will show that it is charging even though it is not connected to the charger. My son has the same phone so I swapped his fully charged battery and get the same problems. I have even disconnected the battery for a while and reconnect it and still get the same results. The manual does not help at all. Ive had a charging problem in that the charging hookup is somewhat loose . I am using the pin type and the charging indication flip flops between the battery indication and the charging indication...Suggestions anyone?..Thanks...Paul R

yeah, loose charging port. See if you can get the flat data port style charge. that should resolve that issue

Deval...thanks...I just got done taking the phone apart and resoldering the two terminals on the board...I noticed when I plugged the pin type charging terminal and shaking it the beep would come and go so with that I embarked on taking the phone apart. What I found was two terminal pins "floating" around in their respective holes. The soldering had broken away from the board..Thanks for your reply....PaulR .I will see what gives in the morning!

yeah thats exactly the problem...just dont tell anyone you did that repair job...that technically voids your warranty ;)

I had that pin charger problem with the 8200 also. If it keeps up, try taking it to the Sprint store -- when I took mine they swapped the charger to the flat data port style for free.

Got up this morning and even though the battery is fully charged I still get the beeping sound. There is no definite rhythm to it. It seems to have a mind of its own, What I do know is that when it beeps the battery icon flashes. If in the standby mode the screens light up and cycles. About the warranty...this phone is more than 2yrs old and I never thought about looking up to see if it is still under warranty....I also swapped out the battery again with my sons and still got the beeping sound which leads me to think that something else is screwy and perhaps beyond me..maybe a new phone is in order ? hmmmm wait...the battery icon flashes as if it was 'phantom' charging? 90% of the time, thats due to a short in the charging port, usually caused by liquid exposure.

wheather it was the right thing to do ,I swished out the charging ports with electronics cleaner and ran a toothpick over the contacts to remove any built up crud that may be causing the "short". i still heard the beeping sound and by the way the beeping sound that is heard is the sound the phone makes when the charger is inserted and removed so I think you are in the right area of the problem...great job Deval ! .I will investigate further!!! update...I sprayed a bit more of that electronics cleaner and immediately inserted the charger a few times to aid in the cleaning of the pin and the associated area and you know what....since then I have not heard the beeping !!! I will follow up tonight if anything changes....paul R

ok good to know...yeah I was a cell phone tech for over 2 years in my old position with Sprint, so I saw alot of things go wrong with phones

Keeping my fingers crossed on this one ...so far soooo good ..no more beeping...had the phone on all day after the "cleaning". I am quite optimistic about this fix !!! Thanks again !!!! Paul r

Its been a few days now and still no beeping . HOWEVER my overindulgence with the electronics cleaner spray seem to have gotten into the microphone and so it is not as sensitive as before evident by somewhat of a muted sound as described by the recepients of my calls. It is a small button type microphone and I am now searching for a used phone for parts on e-bay. It is still functioning ok just need to speak closely into the mic when talking! Will Update!!!

My old 8200 would randomly beep, ring, and well... lots more things. I just replaced it...... didn't feel like worrying about it.

I must admit that I like to take apart and fix things even though sometimes its best to do as you have done . Then at least I can say that Ive tried. Who knows maybe I will end up getting a new phone...Thanks

I was able to get another microphone and swapped it out..all back to normal again!!!!
