View Full Version : ? about taking apart M1

Hypothetically speaking, lets say someone became annoyed by the scratches/scuff marks that are made on the top part of the flip by opening and closing the phone. Lets say that person decided to spray paint their M1...and it looked pretty good. Problem is I'm sure that some paint probably got into the speaker holes and onto the speakers. May even be clogging a couple of the holes. I know you need a "special" screwdriver to take apart the phone but that appears to only take apart the bottom portion of the flip where the keypad is. What I want to know is how do you take apart the top part of the phone if it's possible to be able to clean out the speaker holes and get any dried paint off the speakers themselves. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If they're willing to gamble and NOT willing to take it apart, in reference to the speaker holes. They might try some of the tiny (number size only!) drill bits in a pin vise. The rub is IF they go in too far they will ruin the speakers. Do this with great care, if you dare.
I guess if it were me I'd take it apart, after talking to a tech experienced with these phones. :)

LOL Of course you could take the safe way out and take it in to a store to get cleaned out. :)
Question: Is there any deficit in the phone's performance??

honestly, once you do it,its easy, but i wouldnt recommend it,taking apart or taking off your actual front flip/lcd. main reason why is the ribbon inside the flip connecting the main board to the lcd,you break that(which is very easy)and its game over. good luck tying to have a tech repair that.

if your really desperate for cleaning it,you can take off the front part of the lcd screen without actually taking off the whole thing. it just flips back down like its closed, and then i guess you could clean it that way, just dont get any finger prints on the lcd,it makes it really ugly.

yes they are..i thought it'd be cool to see how my 9000 worked and make it look like a 5600..BAD idea. it just started acting weird, the ribbon never broke or anything. i was lucky that lockline was able to get me a brand new in box 9k in july 06.
wow, i was wondering how i got those scratches up there. i only have a few though, nothing major. :)
