Interesting about it already being in a store in Kansas. I wonder if that's because its close to headquarters?

It is possible she got a credit from either the retentions or loyalty department to offset the cost of the phone, or, it could be like the following post:

Yea, you better make sure you still have an order. I did the same thing, ordered mine, saw the $349 charge, then next day saw the $349 credit. The reason I saw the credit was because there was some goof-up and the order was cancelled. I had to go back and do the whole thing over again.

this definitly won't stay this way for long. What typically happens, if you order the phone, your payment is credited to your account within a couple of hours, then the phone is ordered, then once it ships they bill it to the account. When things are billed to your account it can take anywhere from a couple of days to a couple of weeks to post. This is from my experience. Every time I go into a store I have everything billed to my account.

I called them on it, but sprint wouldn't admit anything. this way of how they bill and such can easily be taken advantage of. I won't get into that on here. It''s something I keep to myself if you know what I mean.

Hey all, SPRINT may have the M1 in there STORES! I bought my on the 5th from a Sprint Store located about a block from my apartment.
Yes, I'm currently going to school in Fargo, ND so dont give me sh*t about that, but seriously....who'd every guess Fargo has them!! To my amazement, they've had them in-stock since after Xmas.
Orignally, I was about ready to buy one off of ebay in hopes to renew my 2 year contract and get $150 back/credited. But I mentioned that my SCP-5500 had a broken antenna and wanted a M1. The next line was "We have them in-stock and I said...."see you in two minutes" Bang, bought one and been in love!
$212 after instant rebate & 2 year.

i had a thread about how i could call in an insurance claim thru retentions, but they closed it for some reason... anyway, my 9000 is'nt holding up too well anymore. the antenna is falling off (not screwing off, where the antenna comes out of the body, that extension is cracking off), and the battery won't hold a charge. i wanted to go to the sprint store and see if i could use the replacement phone they would give me and the loyalty discount to get an m1, but they had no idea what the m1 was. so my question is this...can i do all that thru retentions, or do i have to wait for the m1 to be in-stock somewhere to trade in my 9000 and get the loyalty discount?

I couldn't hurt to call retentions and ask. Explain to them the condition of your current phone (which is why you are finding it hard to wait for them to hit the stores). All they can do is say no.
I ordered mine through retentions last Saturday and it was delivered to my house today. The only problem is... I'm out of town and won't be back home until really late Thursday. The wait is killing me!

You have to remember that there are a lot of people that don't know about these sites and have no clue what the M1 is untill it's available in the stores. Now by the time the M1 accessories hit the stores I might have a new phone.

A local store in downtown Atlanta received four M1's a couple of days ago. But they were already sold out by day's end yesterday. Alas, I found all this out when I visited the store at lunchtime today. They expect another shipment of the same size sometime next week. I gave them my name and phone number to contact me when they arrive.
Cheers, Harry

It has many of the beloved Sanyo features I have come to love and expect, but it lacks in a few areas..
1) Is EVERYONE in the world a freaking pervert or something? Why does this phone have a big bright outer LCD say "Camera Operating," as well as a freaking strobe light to warn everyone? -- It must be a HUGE problem in Asia or something... I'm lost... Sometimes it's awesome to get a shot when your friends aren't expecting it! It's half the fun! Oh well...
2) Large, beautiful screen is practically wasted, (may be true of most new phones.) But under powerTV and anything like that, most of the time you wish you could turn the phone sideways, and use the entire screen... novel idea, eh? well, instead, you get a 100x40 pixel window (because most sprintTV things are 'widescreen')
3) Can't record videos while closed
4) Can't rapidly take pictures. Not only do you have to wait for Autofocus, which really isn't all that bad, but then you have to hit SAVE like on other manufacturers... then hit the menu, and go back to camera... if you simply hit the camera button again, like on every other Sanyo ever made, or even the Fusic or practically all phones in existence, it deletes that picture, and returns you to the viewfinder... This will take some getting used to...
5) Biggest thing I miss from the Fusic (which I never thought I'd miss ANYTHING from that phone,) but was the ability to assign custom ringtones to different types of text messages I received. For example, on the sanyo, you can only use keywords to specify how to sort a message, and there is no custom ringer available. On the fusic, I had a custom mp3 for myspace, different AIM users (via SMS,) regular text messages, and family.... the list goes on...
6) Also, I use AIM SMS quite a bit, and this phone just pisses me off left and right... if someone responds to me while I am typing a message, then their message pops up, and it starts putting in numbers as if I was dialing... You can hit the back button to get back to YOUR message, finish it, and send it... but then you have to go through the menu system to get back to the new message you skipped through without your approval...
7) You will find yourself hitting the speaker key A LOT... I hit it over 17 times while organizing my phonebook back into 'groups'... I have hit the speaker key probably 1/5 times I meant to hit the directional-down key (when not looking.) It just feels natural... not like my old Sanyos...
All that said, it's a decent phone, and I like it, overall... I haven't used the 8400 yet, however, with 3.0mp phones with minisd UltraII slots just around the corner, perhaps this wasn't the wisest purchase I have made! (had to pay full retail $349.99+tax) It's just... I payed MORE than my brother paid for his Samsung BlackJack for Cingular, and that thing is hella tricked-out... There's simply nothing revolutionary about this M1... if you are looking for something spectacular... keep waiting... if you want what appears to be a solid, (phsyically, and software-wise,) phone, with a minimal amount of configurability... you're all set...
-- Takes great pictures, day and night...
-- Loud speakers
-- can transfer pictures and mp3s over bluetooth
It's like Sanyo gets to the 80% mark on most features, then just cripples them... this camera could be astounding if you could actually take a picture, and get to the next one in a reasonable amount of time...
oh well... Sanyo for life! -- Maybe ;)

Looks like you picked apart the M1 in less then a day. The M1 buttons are close together around the d-pad and at first I did hit the wrong key at times but after time I have got used to them.
You know you don't have to push focus lock soft key button to take a picture right? You can push the camera, ok, or the side camera button. To some people having to hit the save button after taking a picture might be a hassle but to others they might like it because if they take a bad picture they can just hit camera button or cancel button to take another picture. Really the auto foucus and having to hit the save button adds just a few extra seconds to take a picture. I think the M1 is still quicker taking pictures then the Samsung 800 and 940. Not sure if you know but you can go to fun tools in the camera and take multiple shots 3,6,9 but only in low resolution 240x320. I think if anyone that is wanting to take good quality rapid shots with a camera phone is going to be disappointed with any US camera phone. I agree the M1 is nothing revolutionary but it's more then just a decent phone.

Hahahaha, nah, I'm not that stupid. I've had my 8200 for over 25 months so I got $150 off, that made it out to be $220. With the Kellog rebate I'll get $75 back, endding up in $155. So I'm still getting it cheap.

The camera is definitely nice... I will just have to get used to not being able to really take video while closed, and having to hit save afterwards... and no, I don't use the soft key to lock the focus... there a lot of fun tools in there too...
heh, I hit the speaker key like 10 times today while texting on AIM... oh well! actually, I'll probably never use the key, I kinda wish it was just a menu option... (oh well!)
One thing that strikes me as an usual design is just how big the phone APPEARS... everyone I have shown it too thinks it's e n o r m o u s.... but when you sit it next to most phones, it's not that big... it's an optical illusion... strange design choice on Sanyo's end... I still like the way it looks.
if they would fix a few texting and camera issues, I think it would be well-worth it's $349.99+tax pricetag.
you HAVE to hit the down arrow to go to the next t9 word, instead of using the 0 key like the fusic, and that it doesn't seem to learn what words I use most... I still have to pick 'yall' over 'wall' every time... bleh!! annoying...

The camera is definitely nice... I will just have to get used to not being able to really take video while closed, and having to hit save afterwards
You can luanch the camcorder and take video while closed. Unlock the buttons hit the camera button on the side and a menu will pop up asking to launch camera, camcorder, voice recorder and exit use the media control to scroal down and hit camcorder and there ya go. Also automatically saves the vid while the phone is closed.

ya ive never had the speaker button issue. i really like how it says when the keys are unlocked, as opposed to the 9000 where you had to guess (if you have silence all on).

Thanks, while not very intuitive, it works!

easier....open the video camera with the phone open if you want, then close the flip.
