Yeah, I know.. nothings out yet.
The phones been out what, 2 months or so? And NO USB DRIVER FOR IT YET?!!! :irked:
well, I had the cash so I went and upgraded..and manually programming all 89 phone book entries.
Is there any text or whatever here, that can tell a new 8400 owner how to get around the lack of a USB connection, for transfering pictures, ring tones, and wall papers?
Thanks.

Does it have the drivers? I really don't need another cable.

You don't need a driver for the USB cable. I was confused at first too. For details look at p150 of the 8400 user guide for instructions.
Basically you need to go to Mass Storage menu item before you plug in the USB cable. No drivers needed.
BTW, some items (ring tones, wall paper, etc...) can't be transfered via the USB cable, but must be sent via the internet. There are plenty of posts on this board that already explain how to do that.

Yes, thats the sad part, isn't it? I could transfer ringers with my old 8100 on the USB cable.. But not the 8400 cause theres no driver for it YET.
Oh well.

I used the datapilot drivers at first but they sucked and would not wok with bitpim. I then downloaded the sprint connection manager and switched the driver for the phone to the sprint driver and everything is happy but bitpim stil ldoes not support it.
I have been able to get around using bitpim for everything I wanted to do so far except transfering ringers. I will have to wait for that.
I was able to transfer contacts without a problem with the instructions listed in another thread.

Could someone explain why we need USB drivers with the Sanyo 8400? Without the drivers you can transfer contacts, video, songs, and pictures. What functionality is missing?
To transfer files with a USB or Bluetooth you don't need special phone drivers. If you choose to use phone-as-modem (PAM) you will need to install Sprint Connection Manager which contains drivers for data communication.
