While I applaud Sprint's alacrity in giving you your rebates, I wish that in general companies would eschew rebate plans and just cut their prices instead. A lot of times a rebate is just a gimmick intended to lure people into buying something with the idea that some percentage of them won't follow through and actually redeem the rebate. It can be at its root an essentially dishonest marketing technique.
From the wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rebate_(marketing):
"...Cell phone service companies, including major players like Verizon Wireless and T-mobile, as well as third-party retailers like Radio Shack, Wirefly, LetsTalk.com, Simply Wireless, and others have received growing attention due to complex rebate redemption rules. Both carriers and retailers make customers submit rebate claims during a 30-day window, often 6 months after cell phone activation. [20]Some authorized dealers have responded by trying to make rebate requirements more transparent, explaining that the carrier will withdraw payment from them if a customer quits service before the end of the contract...."

sprint is not #1 in rebates. i have been waiting for september, with 8-10 phone calls about the status of it. its finally "processing" right now and will be here in 30 days! they said that in november too!

I agree with the logic of the rebate regarding alot of people dont submit the rebate thereby the companies are making money which is not in the best interest me the consumer.when i buy toothpaste etc and there is a .30 cent mail in rebate i never mail it in which the companies realize. with rebates worth hundreds i will always mail it in as will most people although mistakes will be made and invalidate the rebate. so yes it would be nice if sprint would just make the rebate automatic with the purchase.that being said they were timely with my rebate which was the point of my thread.

In general rebates are a SCAM (regardless of the company) and unfortunately was the case for me and my negative experience with Sprint. I did get my rebate however I had to play HARDBALL with Sprint to get it. :bang: :irked:
I'm pleased to read the OP's positive experience and hope Sprint is bucking the trend with corrupt companies (referring to rebates) and moving out ahead into a honest, ethical way of dealing with rebates! :)

Gift cards are another big profit item for retailers. Best Buy made an additional $43 million in 2006 from unused gift cards...Consumer Reports says 19% of gift cards go unused.
