View Full Version : E-Care says to call?!?!

So I'm a longtime Sprint customer (8 years, never late) and a longtime reader of this board. I e-mailed e-care to see about some upgrades as I'm looking at moving to a PV phone and can always stand to save some money. I have:

1000 AT $40
$10 Vision
$5 7pm N/W - $5 credit
= $50 + taxes

I stated that I wanted no changes to my base plan, but would it be possible to get:

$10 basic PV - $10 credit
Free roaming
Any sort of loyalty discount

I have about six months left on my current contract and stated I was willing to resign for two years. E-care's response was: Call us. And then just gave the standard *2. I'm sure that I will just get the usual brushoff when I call: you already have a great plan that we don't offer to the public, blah, blah, blah....

Anything to do here? Should I just call? I'm sure that they won't give me any of what I've requested, even though these don't seem unreasonable given some of the plans I see floating around on this board.

Thanks,
Kevin

I think you can get the loyalty discount when you renew. I don't think that one will be a problem. As for the Vision, it's possible that you could get it. I'm not totally sure how retentions works b/c I've never called them but I might be inclined to wait until I'm a little closer to the end of the contract. You might have more leverage that way.

Waiting the 6 months or being closer to contract end date would help. eCare seems to be tightening down on the discounts and will want a contract restart for those options you asked about.

The problem with waiting is that I have to get a new phone: buttons are ceasing to function on my current one! I was hoping the Q will be out soon, and then I'll use my 24 (18? whatever) month upgrade toward the phone, which will automatically reset my contract. Also, I'll have to switch to PV with a new PV phone, so I was hoping to take care of it all right now with a new contract and new features all rolled into one....

New phones don't change your plan contract.

I believe he is hoping to get a deal on powervision, etc.

If thats the case, call *2 and get retentions on the line and explain that you would like to renew your agreement but the current offerings for powervision plus text messages are alot more expensive and you were hoping to get a discount for the renewal of a 2 year agreement.

Be realistic and shoot for a reasonable plan to go with the new phone!

New phones don't renew the plan, but as I stated, I will be using the 18 month rebate, which does require you to sign a new contract.

There's a good chance I'll stick it out till the end and then jump ship to a GSM carrier anyway, someone with a better phone selection.

eCare is putting the clamps down I think. I got the "call us" response not too long ago on a friends account. I also emailed about a couple of things for him and go the brush off as well. Not as easy as before.

If I get a helpful ecare rep, I keep their mailing. If I have an issue I reply to that old email.

Never had any problems doing it that way.... and I usually get a response from that rep.

The email address is the same for all of them -- they go by the reference number, i believe

eCare has become eTraffic-Cop because of so many people asking for stuff.

Sprint catches on to trends in the emails and will adjust what they offer and who it is offered to. Just like the suggestion of emailing all 4 email addresses to get what your hoping for worked when it was 1st tried, sprint will grow wise to it soon enough also.

eCare is there as an electronic way to question a billing issue, request the adding or removing of a service, and post basic questions. Since most eCare is not answered in the USA / Canada, you will have varying levels of compliance with the rules and may luck out with a rep.

Lastly....... I dont think that the rep names are always the same human signing the responses. I had 2 replies from "Fergie B." that when sprint sent me a survey on my experience had 2 different rep login's listed for the 2 emails. Basically I think "Fergie B." indicates what call center is replying and what group of reps the reply is coming from.

glad I usually phone in, as has been said you can usually get a good handset deal from account services (retentions). If you ever want to get them through cust srv though do not ask for "retentions" ask for the actual department being account services.

Just a word of advice based on other's experiences. Best of luck.
