View Full Version : SMS Trick

Hello everyone.

I ran another experiment to see what the results would be.

As most people know picture mail and texting with Sprint are two seperate bundles.

I don't know if this is true with everyone's phones, but on mine I can send "text ony" via picture mail.

Using this option, I sent a few text only "pictures" to see what would happen. They come to me a picture but are in fact a text message.

So if you want to save some money, or have a sero plan and are wanting texting, sms will work via picture mail.

The only thing is the receiver needs to have picture mail to recieve it. Most other carriers bundle their picture/text package together so that shouldn't be an issue.

You can also type up to 1000 characters using pic mail versus 160 when you send a text. :)

I'm wondering if someone doesn't have a picture pack, will they be able to read the text message.

Sprint's picture mail uses the internet so I would hate getting nailed with "casual use" web access if I was on the receiving end and didn't have an internet package.

Maybe this trick should go in the sero thread. I mean it's really a work around against getting a sms package or hounding ecare for free 500 text messages. Since picture mail is included with SERO, just use that. Or use it if you've maxxed out your text limit.

can you send the text as a picture?

How do you do that? But I was able to get free 500 texts on my plan recently so I guess I really don't have to worry about this now!! By the way..Ecare sucks now..I was able to do this on the phone with a regular customer rep

Yea, but i think that only works with certain phones. I have the treo 700p and it will not allow you to send a pic message w/o uploading a picture...what kind of phones do you guys have....that allow for this?

non pda.

Maybe take a blank picture of something. Then send it with your text message. That's wierd you can't send text only.

no matter how hard i have tried, how many times i have asked ecare, retentions, customer service I cannot get even 300 text/mo for free....they have screwed up my bill a bunch of times and have had numerous other problems....any suggestions on how to get free texting, for this stuff ???? I pay 60/mo no vision....my wife and I are in contact with each other alot during the day due to my daughter in daycare but we dont want to bother each other at work with phonecalls....they said free texting is not in our {bucket} whatever that means...

ask em for unlimited for $8 on one line and 500 for free on the other line. Sometimes showing that you are willing to pay something will make it happen
