View Full Version : Upcoming Smart Phones?
Hi.
I currently own a PPC6700 and I like it and all but I think i want to downgrade to a smart phone. The 6700 was my first PDA phone and I got it mainly for mobile web use. So what i want now is a smaller phone with better battery life and the ability to reach real web sites.
I want to know if sprint has any plans for a phone like the Motorola Q, Black Jack or Dash.

there currently is none with set dates, just rumors
and the moto q blackjack and dash all use the same browser as the ppc6700 so you would reach the web in the same fashion(they all are based off windows mobile, the difference is the smartphones used a crippled version of the os)
have you ever thought about getting a different browser such as opera or netfront, or setting pocket ie to identify at ie6 thoes 3 can make a difference in your browsing experience on the 6700

All we need to know is that someday, in the distant future, maybe several generations from now...
Sprint will get a Blackberry Pearl. And we will have reached "CDMA Smartphone Nirvana"

well, IMO, if it is at Verizon, Sprint will probably have it about 6 months later! I fully believe we will have the Q and probably in Q1. The Pearl and Blackjack? Much longer, if ever, as they started out on GSM. And I keep hearing there is a 6700 upgrade coming sometime. So, right now there are 5 "pda" choices with the Q being the sixth. I doubt Sprint would add more than 6 models. Just IMHO.

Sorry if this is a repost:

Engadget says mid-December or early January 2007. Apparently Verizon's 6 month exclusivity deal has ended.

There would have to be something spectacular for me to give up my Treo but I am definitely interested to see what comes down the pipe for sure.

well the i760 has me sold if it comes over, it has a treo-esk slide out keyboard, and wifi built in and its either 1 or 200mb of built in memory
but i believe its a smart phone so there is no touch screen but its size is great and i could live without a touch screen
Ok. Maybe i didn't ask the right way. I dont hate my 6700 i just want something better.
I use both PIE and Opera but the problem is the phone's thickness and sorry battery life. (Im getting only 20 - 45 minutes of internet use)
So what i was looking for is a phone that will allow me time to surf the net in a slimmer frame.
I assumed a smartphone like the Q, Blackjack or Dash would give me longer web surfing in a slimmer frame but I'm not sure.
I'm also not sure if i want to give up the 6700's Screen size.

it sounds to me like you need a new battery i can use the net on my phone for a good hour strait and it may knock my battery down 20% at the most and my phone is over a year old (it is a ppc6700 also, has the old red sprint logo)
do you run your battery down alot? have you in the past? i think you should invest in a new battery they run for $30 or so online for extended, and less for standard, they have them on ebay also and they are even cheaper

There's the 6800 that comes out next year. 6700 sans antenna and overall a bit slimmer.

have you tried turning off beam, and lowering your brightness?
Beam is off.
Brightness was maxed that may be the problem.
I turned it down to the 1st notch and I'll check the battery life.
Thanks for the help

Treo does those things... minus the wifi.

I, however, would not say the POS Treo's don't do bluetooth!
Coming from a Treo 650 to the Q, I see not real problems with using a Windows device.
