View Full Version : Req Help: Retentions and new plan question

I've been with Sprint since 2001. I am currently on a seven month military activation overseas, so my account was put on hold until I returned; however, I was on a retention plan prior to leaving and I was never advised that I'd lose my plan and have to take whatever is available when I return to the States.

I am also under a two-year contract, because seven months ago I purchased a new phone and they gave me a $100 credit towards a $350 phone, which reactivated a two year contract (crooks!!)

Anyhow, today I called to get the details on reactivating my account, because I'm returning to the States in two weeks. After being advised I lost my old plan, I requested to speak to the Retentions Dept.

Retentions offered me:
900 minutes (I think they upped it to 1000 but I can't remember)
7pm N/W
Sprint to Sprint free
500 free text
for $52.50 before taxes (I will also receive a 15% military discount)

I told the Rep. I really want all this, but I want my bill to be around $40 before tax, but she said she could not deviate from the pre-established Retention Plans, and they are actually getting rid of the Retention Plans all together in the near future.

I told her I was not satisfied with her offer and would need to think about it before making my decision (my previous plan was better)...

So, my question is: Can I get a better deal, or is she being truthful about not being able to deviate from the Retention Plans already established?

I WANT:
1000 minutes (at least)
7pm N/W
Sprint to Sprint
500 free text (at least - would prefer unlimited)
Vision (I don't really use this, but would like to send / receive pics if I want)
ALL for LESS then $50
Is this possible??? And if so, how do I get it????

Thanks You - Rick

You likely wont get this but:

$40/1000 single line plan should still be available with free 7pm nights. Sprint to Sprint included shouldnt be hard to get either.

After than: You have the possibility to get 500 free text messages or go unlimited for $8. You need to decide if vision is that important.... because sprint wont give it free on that low a plan normally.

Without vision your at $48 with UL text messages. With vision you could be looking at another $10-20 just for that including picturemail.

Did you have a loyalty discount before leaving? If now, ask for one.

Did you get the military discount before leaving? If now shoot for loyalty 1st with your plan and call later to add the military discount.

Sprint is likely going to put you into a 2 year agreement from the plan change date. They will be discounting your service alot, and you did get money off a phone for going into a new contract months ago.
