Took me 5 calls to Customer Service to get a rep who knew how to do it.
To obtain SERO there are a couple ways:
1. Call in to *2 with your cell phone (outlined below)
2. Sign up with new service thru the SERO site www.sprint.com/sero
Thru Customer Service:
call *2
Press your language option
say speak to a representative
***BE VERY VERY NICE but firm***
-This will extend your contract for 2 more years.
-Tell him/her you wanted to switch plans and a friend who worked at sprint recommended one to you.
-Mention SERO and that it suits your needs.
-Smile, cross fingers and hope they can do it.
-If they refer you to site, kindly thank them and call back. My verbage around this was Inphonic wants me to cancel my current number. My number was important for business reasons so I couldn't go that route. I mention that I know a few others who went thru CS to get it done. ***For what it's worth, the rep who did mine did not even mention any of that. They said "Okay, what plan do you want?" "Great, I see it right here. Let's set you up!"***
You'll know within the first few minutes if they can pull it off by how they react and the feeling they convey over the phone. The rep I got was VERY confident and had been working for Sprint for 3-4 years.
SO FAR, I've had a male rep switch my plan and heard of another male rep from another SU member who got SERO did there plan change. That's not to say that the female reps can't do it, I just have not heard of any so far. [This note is no way meant to be sexist, just stating obvious facts.]
Okay, so if the rep needs help (as some have NOT heard of SERO yet) direct them to the site listed above. For me, I assumed that if they haven't heard of it, it's a small chance they know how to manipulate the system in a way to get you the plan if you are an existing user.
Process (should be self explanatory, just tell them the plan and features you want, ALONG with what benefits you have already and want to keep).
Some of the things I'd kindly ask the rep to note IN YOUR ACCOUNT, just in case something goes wrong (that's how I phrase it):
Notes:
-Can upgrade or downgrade to the other SERO plans later
-Picture Mail and Video mail free note
-EVDO note that will allow you to switch to an EVDO plan (If you have a Non-PV phone and plan on upgrading later)
That's the steps I've taken to get the plan. I'm not 100% sure I'll get it as I have to wait until my next billing cycle to see the changes.
Some false assumptions as other members currently posted they have gotten past that situation:
-Have to get a new number
-Only for new activations
-Can't have business discounts
-No other promos can be applied
If you have anything you'd like to add, please post!

I'm schooling an ecare rep regarding the new promo.
Here is their last response:
Dear xxxxxxxxx,
Thank you for contacting Sprint together with Nextel regarding the SERO plan
that you are inquiring about. I will be happy to assist you.
Unfortunately, we do not offer the SERO plan to all of our customers, and the
only way to get this plan on your account is to be referred by an employee of
Sprint. There is also a form that has to be filled out, and you are required to
be out of contract, and you have to purchase your phone from a designated
website.
The only way you will be able to have this plan, is if you know somebody who
works for Sprint. I apologize if this has caused you any inconvenience, and I
want to wish you a happy holiday!
Thank you for contacting Sprint. If you have any further questions, please feel
free to contact us again. We value your loyalty and look forward to serving you
for years to come. Thank you.

This is what I get when ecare responds:
We have launched the Sprint Employee Referral Offer, also known as SERO. Encourage your friends to switch to Sprint and give them a discount with your employee benefit.
SERO plan is limited to:
- Sprint Employees (including Legacy Sprint and Legacy Nextel employees)
- Friends and Family of Sprint Employees (limited to a total of FIVE referral activations)
Eligibility Requirements of SERO plan:
- Affiliates are not participating in this offer. You must be in a Sprint Market to get the plan.
- Add-a-Phone is not eligible (cannot be shared with other subscriptions).
- Must sign up for or renew a Two-year Subscriber Agreement.
Activation Details:
Friends and Family Referral Activations (new activations only)
- Employees can have up to five activation referrals in total across both the CDMA and iDEN networks. The email address of the Sprint employee who is referring the customer is required for employee verification.
- All orders must be activated through the InPhonic web site which is located at the following URL:
<http://www.sprint.com/SERO>
Select handsets will be offered through the web site.
- Inphonic will validate if the order meets the program requirements and credit guidelines.
- Existing customers that want to switch to this plan are required to receive a new phone number. Early Termination Fees apply if they are within the contract period.
- The Activation Fee will be automatically applied by back-end systems and will appear directly under the activation fee on the bill.
If you have any further questions or concerns, please reply and I will be happy to assist you.
Thank you for contacting Sprint. We appreciate your business, and look forward to providing you first class service in the future. Have a great day!

Dear xxxxxxxxxxxxxx,
Thank you for contacting Sprint together with Nextel regarding the Sero plan,
and its availability to you. I will be happy to research this for you.
I have accessed this with the email that you have provided, but this is not an
appropriate email address, and it will not allow you to have this plan added to
your account. I apologize but unless you have a legitimate email address you
will not be able to be put on to this plan.
I also want to inform you that I am unable to add this plan for you, and you
would be required to sign up via the website. I apologize for this, and I want
you to know that I wish that I could make this happen for you. Thank you for
your patients and being so courteous, it was a pleasure assisting you.
Thank you for contacting Sprint. If you have any further questions, please feel
free to contact us again. We value your business and always look forward to the
opportunity to provide you excellent service now and in the future. Thank you
and have a great day!

Website may be allowing unrestricted additions while CS may still see the limit on referals.
Good luck getting switched for those who are trying.

Painlessly switched today from plan where I pay $31/mo (300 min & 7 to 7 - nothing else) to SERO 500. Also got Treo 700wx for $299 + tax. I am currently in a contract that ends 6/2007, and I received assurance from Sprint that they would not impose the $150 ETF, and the switch to SERO would be considered an "upgrade".
Thanks to all of you who helped and advised me through the process, especially Super Moderator Dan!! :urock:

what are the opinions for the best SERO phone available? Id love a M500 but its not available. Fusic is a little chunky,KRZR is too much $, which leaves the A900 and katana. Opinions?

Honestly? Goto the sprint store and play with them in your own hand.
If not possible, try the manufacturers forums and the rants and debates as they compare features of phones in both

Sure, I just went to www.sprint.com/sero, and went through the motions of selecting the phone (Treo 700wx) and SERO 500. Then I clicked on the "contact us" link in the top right, and a pop-up gave me a 1-866 # and a "call code". So, I called the number. The rep told me that he could not guarantee I won't get charged the ETF, and he advised that I call Sprint to ask them.
So, I called *2 and "cancel service"....I reached the "business line" guy, who was very confused and didn't know what SERO was. He read up on it a bit and then said that as long as I remain with Sprint, keep my phone #, and simply go from one plan to another, I have no worries about an ETF. I asked him to please note this on my account, and I got his name.
So, then I called the 1-866 # and referenced my call code again, and told the rep the story. She seemed less than interested and just blew my order through, no questions asked. I gave her my Sprint # for porting, my ssn, my credit card, and that was that. She said my total was $320-something (after taxes), and I will get my phone by Thursday or Friday via FedEx. So, fingers crossed :fingers: that this all works out as I hope!!
BTW, I used savings@sprint.com as the referral name.....learned about it here on SU.
So, I don't know if the "contact us" thing helped me or what....maybe they're just getting more flexible due to the promotion via savings@sprint.com?
So, I'll keep you all posted on what happens next....once the 700wx arrives. :fingers:
Good luck, everyone!! :wavey:

So you used savings@sprint.com as the referral name when you were on the phone with them? If that's the case, then we know it's not a problem of the SERO site and the Sprint system having different acceptance levels.
If you said "cancel service" then that means you spoke with retention?

Nope, I never referred to "savings@sprint.com" when talking to any of them. I typed it in on the web site. I think the "call code" enabled her to access any info I had entered thus far, including the referral e-mail and the phone selected. She already knew I wanted the 700wx without me telling her, yet I had submitted nothing at that point.

Yep, I got his first name but not his login ID. I just now called to confirm, and the CSR acted like I must be nuts to think I would be charged a termination fee when my phone number is not leaving Sprint. She confirmed that the note was included, as well.
Hmm, either the policy has changed, or I got lucky with the CSRs, or maybe having a business account helped, or maybe paying only $31/mo on the original plan helped.
Well, in any case, I how have to wait 24 hours for Sprint's approval....whereismyorder.com says:
"Your order has been sent to Sprint PCS ® for credit approval and account activation, along with a request to transfer your existing phone number."

in the future when dealing with sprint, get 1st name and log-in ID which is either in the format of XXXXX55 or XXX5555 where the X = letters and the 5= numbers.

Ok, I signed up for a new line with using the current SERO offer but my existing phone (out of contract) is with Sprint. The problem now of course is that Sprint won't port numbers from other Sprint accounts to SERO accounts (not w/out insane persistance and getting just the right cust svc rep anyway).
I know the workaround that's been suggested is to port the number to a pre-paid phone temporarily then port it to the new SERO account but I've never dealt with pre-paid cell phones before, hell my current phone is my 1st cell phone (resisted the lure for years but finally caved).
What would you all suggest as an easy/cheap phone/provider to do the temporary port with?
Should I buy a prepaid off ebay or go into a store and get temporary service there? I feel kinda bad about using a brand-new phone I have no intention of keeping then giving it back so I'm looking for a low negative karmic solution if possible.
Thoughts?

get the crappy cingular phone at walmart for $20, port your sprint number to it (it includes $10 of airtime for that price) and then once its ported over, request the port to sprint. I'm not sure if you have to wait XX days between ports, but its the best way to preserve your number.

WOW!
It's horrible!
Sprint is telling existing customers that want to switch to SERO ...
that PICTURE & VIDEO mail do NOT come with SERO plans !!!
I was told that by the lady that switched me to SERO ... so I had to call like 10 more times before a CS-rep confirmed the obvious (that it does come with).

I just called *2. I'm a business account and rep said he could handle those. I told him I was interested in upgrading my plan to the SERO 1250 plan. He was aware of SERO and said it was for new accounts only. He said if I really wanted it, I would have to sign up for it online and my existing # would get cancelled and I would be charged the ETF. He was real nice though. Maybe I'll try again tomorrow.

What's so horrible about that. It gives you a good reason to use ecare. To write and verify through them that you are not being charged for picture mail. Naturally in the second paragraph you're going to request FREE 6pm NW because you overlooked that when signing up and you want to make sure your current line matches the one you are thinking of porting from....

I was thinking of doing that ebay .99 cent phone thing and getting a 700wx, and maybe trying to shoot for a 3rd SERO with just 500 minutes, since it'd probably be cheaper than the data only plan, which is all I'd want/need with a PDA. They are right, though... 2 SERO is a bugger to get, I think corporate would put snipers outside my house if I tried for 3... Hmm, sounds like an adventure. any suggestions?

Cingular just recently raised their texting rate to 15 cents/text for casual use. Although they are claiming it isn't a material change, some Cingular reps will let you out. If they don't, demand a copy of the orginal contract including prices for casual use rates from when you signed up.
This of course is unlikely to be found.

What they call it doesnt matter. You paid a deposit to establish service and if you dont agree with the deposit then cancel the agreement and plan and get your deposit back.
Sprint will likely cut you a check for your deposit refund as you choose not to continue with service. Also, any phones you may have recieved will need to be returned in "like new" condition.

I've read a lot of sites regarding that. Some Cingular reps will check your history and point out that you haven't sent an sms in X months, etc.
The orginal agreement stated that casual use was 10 cents. Like Sprint, Cingular will most likely let you go.

Has anyone noticed that the Sero site now states "** Off network roaming is not included with this plan "
I was going to have my sister get the plan but with off network roaming charges forget it. She's better off staying with Verizon.
When did this happen?

Well, after reading the posts I called *2 and talked to several Customer Service reps before one would agree to switch my current plan to a SERO plan. The first 4 reps said the the SERO promo is for new customers only and if I wanted to switch my plan, I would have to cancel my account and incur the ETF and get a new number. They referred me to the www.sprint.com/sero website and stated that the disclaimer on the order pages states this plan is only for new subscribers.
Finally, when I told the 5th rep I got on the phone using *2 that I wanted to switch my plan to the SERO plan, she stated that I'd have to extend my current contract to another two years. I said OK! She placed me on hold for a few seconds and proceeded to take my order. Effective next billing cycle which is five days away.
Old plan:
200 anytime minutes $29.99
Roaming free
N+W starting at 6pm free
MTM free
Power Vision Access Pack $15
300 SMS Messages $5
19% corp. discount
New SERO plan:
1250 anytime minutes $49.99
Roaming free
N+W starting at 6pm free
MTM free
Power Vision including PictureMail and VideoMail free
300 SMS Messages $5
19% corp. discount
The boost in anytime minutes from 200 to 1250 is a good deal for me as I will be making more calls during the day time. I also use Power Vision lots. Hopefully everything works out and my persistence will be worth it. We shall see… :fingers: :fingers: :fingers:

whereismyphone.com still says:
"Your order has been sent to Sprint PCS ® for credit approval and account activation, along with a request to transfer your existing phone number."
It does say it could take 5 to 7 days....but it's making me nervous!! :scare:
How long has it taken others once the request is sent to Sprint?
yeah, i ran into this problem as well. i called them @ 866 424 3943 and they told me that my acct was not eligible for the upgrade to the sero plan and the free phone (samsung a640) because my contract had not expired yet. they told me i'd have to pay $49 for the new handset and $18 to activate then i'd be able to have the sero plan. they made no mention of an ETF. maybe i could talk them into waiving the $18 activation fee because i would not be using the phone they mailed to me cecause it's not power vision capable and i'd only switch the service back to my current phone (sam a920)
i'm going to think about it before switching to the plan. it's not that bad a deal though, $67 bucks for unltd internet and all the other sero features for 24 months. :)

uh-oh....so others haven't had to wait for the "Sprint approval" after the order has gone in? Hmm, they implied that everyone had to go into the approval mode and check "whereismyphone.com" for the latest. How long did you wait? Thing is, I explicitly asked if my being in a contract until 6/2007 would be a problem, and they said it was not. I asked both *2 and the SERO rep....

i just called inphonix because they had my billing address wrong, and I didn't want any delay in my phone getting shipped
after I waited on hold for 15min, the guy gets my billing addy straightened out, then tells me if I want to wait on hold another 2-3 mintues, he will check the sprint credit check to see if I have to make a deposit or not for my new account...
he came back on saying i was approved for 5 lines, blah blah
then said I was all set, and as I was about to hang up, he said wait... there is a problem with the order, something about the sero plan wasn't going to work for me because I haven't had my current pohone and plan for 22 months... I wasn't sure what he was talking about.
I told him that the sales guy who I placed the order with told me it wasn't going to be a problem with keeping my number and switching to that plan, and so he put me on hold again...
no go... they said sprint would not authorize it because I had changed my phone recently. (i lost my phone in june and got a new one on ebay and had it activated)
they said i could pay $50 in June 07, and then call them and get the sero plan just fine, or I could wait til June 08 and not have to pay any fees to switch phones...
But they said they cant do anything right now... but they did say I can call sprint, and try to get them to waive that critera, and then i could call them back, and they would put my order through...
time to call sprint i guess. i'm not looking forward to this cause i ahve the worst luck with sprint *2...

Damn, I guess I really have no option then. It sucks that I have to be $150 down for a year just to get their service. Has anyone else who has subscribed to a SERO plan no had to pay the $150 fee?

Unless you call *2 and say "cancel service" and explain to the rep that the $150 fee wasnt explained to you properly. Say that if you had been told it was a deposit that was held by sprint for 1+ years as opposed to a short term thing you would have considered the plan more closely.
You might get them to apply it as a bill credit, but I doubt it. Whoever called it a security deposit was using wording that is technically true but not explaining it well.
The $150 deposit is supposed to be based on your credit file, so if your charged it or now is based on that.

Its because of credit. It could be b/c you are young, and have no credit, or have bad credit. Based on your previous credit history (or lack there of) Sprint thinks its possible you may not pay your bill, and they are out the 150 bucks they gave you off your phone, so they want that amount up front, to ensure they dont get ripped off. Go to Annualcreditreport.com, and you can check your credit report with the three credit reporting companies. Fix that, and you wont have deposits in the future.
Also, you get the deposit back in 12 months assuming EVERY bill is paid on time. If one bill is one day late, the 12 months is reset, so pay your bills on time.

Hey, Orentha, I'm in the same boat as you, I think. I'm still in "waiting for approval" status on whereismyorder.com. And interestingly enough, they typoed my street address, as well. I was able to get them to correct it through the online chat that sporadically appears on the web site. It seems partially corrected now - the invoice is still showing the typo.
Anyway, I asked them how long the approval would take, and they just said to check again in 24 hours. They are closed now, but I will call tomorrow and press this further.
I explicitly called *2 to ensure I was eligible for SERO and would not get charged any type of ETF, despite being in contract, and the rep even noted my account of this, so I think I will be able to push this forward, eventually.
I have an old phone and a $150 credit toward a new one, and I've been in this contract for 1.5 years and didn't get a phone or any perks when I signed up for it. I've had the same phone for 4 years. So, I'm hoping they'll take pity and not give me a hard time about this. :fingers: :scare:

With the free-for-all SERO offer thats in effect right now, I'm halfway interested in getting a data card and running with it.
Only thing that concerned me was one line in the plan details: Roaming 0.50/min.
So does that mean data roaming is not included as it supposedly is with the handsets?

I am wondering if the reps aren't even trying to use the email address. Are they just seeing it and thinking, "that's not an employee address" and then discarding our requests as if we were trying to BS them? Either that, or the system is really different from the website.

That might not work now, at least not with 7 days. This promo is set to end on the 18th. Whether it will be extended or not has yet to be determined. You might be better off trying to get the M1 after you get SERO, but I'm no expert.

Here's what whereismyorder.com says now:
Please contact us as soon as possible in order to discuss your order.
You originally ordered one or more wireless phones through Sprint, with a request to transfer an existing phone number to at least one of those phones. We are currently unable to process your order as requested for all phones, either due to carrier approval or eligibility for number transfers, although we have approved you for service on at least one line.
Please contact us immediately to decide how you would like us to fulfill your order.
You can reach our Customer Relations Department at 866-424-3943 between 9AM-10PM Monday through Friday, or between 9AM-9PM on Saturday (Eastern Time).
We will not be able to ship your order until we hear from you.
Please respond quickly in order to receive your new wireless phone as soon as possible!
This is likely because I called the business line, and I may have an order in a locked position over there...this is the one where he offered me the Treo for $250 and two new Katanas for $50 (as going to add two lines). The monthly was about $70/mo gross, which was too steep for a lock-in for 2 years. He would not budge on the plan price. So, I decided to bag it but didn't all back. I wonder if this is locking the SERO plan and holding me up with Inphonic....arrrgh....what fun. :irked:

Inphonics is telling me to wait 24 hours (they are escalating).
I am starting to weaken.....
Maybe I should bag the SERO and just add the two phones and pay the $64/mo + tax....so that includes adding two lines and PowerVision for my phone. If they could just come down $10 to make it gross $60/mo instead of $70, I would snatch it up. $70 just seems steep for sharing 550 min across 3 phones and PowerVision for only one phone and no other perks.
What do you guys think? Should I try to push through the SERO 500, or should I re-consider adding the 2 lines (which would be nice) and going with the $70/mo.?

It seems like every CS rep knows what sero is and that the general public can get it. I'm assuming they've been hammered with people trying to get it. Most will say they can't do it because it's through the website ONLY. I was only successful when they transferred me to cancellation/retentions and it was really as easy as saying "It's not that i want to cancel, I just want the sero plan w/o signing up through the website and losing my current phone number so can you help me with that?" No questions asked they did it.
Of course i was out of contract so I'm sure it's much much much more difficult if you're on contract.

What is the best way to do that because when I called *2 to get my plan fixed (which they still can't seem to do) and asked about sero they told me the savings@sprint.com was not a valid email???
jumonjii
12-13-2006, 05:59 PM
You should've asked them why it isn't valid.
Then you make them check it on the sero page.
The rep I talked to basically enters the email address in the system somewhere, not the website.
If you can't get your plan switched to sero and you don't care about your number, then call *2 and cancel.
You could probably order sero from the website and get phones that way, or try employee accounts and see if they will do it.

Man, I am not having any luck in getting my plan switched over. I have tried contacting ecare once, consumer accounts once, and employee accounts twice, and they all say just about the same thing.
The only way you can do it is through the website at sprint.com/sero and you must start with a new activation and buy the phone through that site. The first employee accounts rep that I talked to said that I had to pay an ETF and get it through the website.
Is there a special way of asking them that I should try that you know of or what worked for you?

The only way you can do it is through the website at sprint.com/sero and you must start with a new activation and buy the phone through that site. The first employee accounts rep that I talked to said that I had to pay an ETF and get it through the website.
Is there a special way of asking them that I should try that you know of or what worked for you?
With your experience and jumonjii's, it sounds like it's luck of the draw. The best thing you can probably do is follow jumonjii's advice and ask them to validate the email address at the SERO website. Once they see that it works, and we all know it will, get them to try it in the system.
Obviously there is a way to do it b/c with all the people getting switched over, I doubt the CSRs are using their own email address to make the switch.

Wow....
uh..no.
I just told them there was a promo on SERO and I wanted to switch my plan to it. Nothing out of the ordinary.
The rep didn't even ask for an email.... I may have mentioned that the promo used savings@sprint.com.
Next option would be to try the Loyalty Group and see if they budge.
And for the reps that tell you, you have to go through the website, tell them to ask their supervisor because "your friend" switched through customer care.

Last night I got on my dad's account and emailed ecare.
I basically said that I was aware of the SERO plans being available to the general public. I told them the referral e-mail address of savings@sprint.com. I also stated that I'd be gladly willing to renew the 2 yr agreement.
Got a reply e-mail today with a new SERO 500 plan effective Dec 23.
I told my dad and he was happy. So I had no problems at all switching to a SERO plan for him. He didn't even have to renew his contract cuz he did so back in september.
His old plan was the Fair and Flexible 450 for $39.99 plus $15 for Vision Pictures Pack.
Now he will have SERO 500 for $30 per month. Plus he still gets his 20% work discount. He was quite happy. :headbang2

Okay, I tried calling again and got someone that didn't even know what sero was. I quickly ended the call and tried calling employee accounts again (don't have to go through any annoying machines) and he still said that I would need a sprint employee email address and it requires a new activation.
I told him that "a friend of mine" called in a couple days ago and they let him switch plans. Then he said that whoever did that wasn't supposed to and such. I told him to ask his supervisor and see if he would let me switch plans.
He did and still came up with the same, new activation and employee email needed. Then I gave up for now and ended the call with him.
Maybe I'll try ecare again...

OK, I just spent nearly an hour on the line with Sprint... I used a telephone number provided by Joon, for those who know of him. 877-812-1223 (others may know this number as well?)
The rep was not familliar with the plan and this was the first time that she has done a SERO plan. She had trouble locating it in the system, but got help from a supervisor. They were apparently have "scheduled system troubles" and she had to go to and from another location to conduct computer related tasks.
She at first mentioned something about a $25.00 vision pack being required, but I informed her that it says Powervision, data and Web are included, and in addition the Treo 700wx is not compatible with SprintTV and those advanced features. She also was not familliar with the Treo...
In the end she stated the change had taken place, and I added the 300 SMS for $5.00...
I have a question for the experts, I have another plan which is 2500 minutes shared on 5 lines, with a EVP discount...will that carry over to the Sero Line that comes on the same bill??
<<EDIT>>
I am not sure if it was done right as it shows this

Wow....I said that to ecare twice and got nowhere. However, I didn't say anything about renewing my contract. I can't really see how that would make a difference. If they were willing to do it, they would just inform me that I need to renew.
I guess there really isn't a right way to do it. Either you get lucky, or you don't.

It just says F&F.
If you have a power vision phone, then yes, your SERO plan includes powervision.

Well, I am not sure if I am on the right plan or not....but nobody asked me for an email address. I am just worried about that powervision, not saying powervision.......Also the start time now says 9pm instead of 7pm?
Maybe ecare can work that out?

I think you are ok, based on what others have said. Just email ecare to confirm that you have PV. If they say no, then tell them you have a SERO plan with a PV phone. Like Jamie said, if you have a PV phone, then your Vision plan should be for PV. Good luck!

Well, I'm starting to think this is a sign I should just go the business plan route where I pay the $70/mo and add the two lines. Maybe in a month or so I can talk eCare into giving me some perks....like maybe a loyalty discount to help bring down the monthly cost a bit.

Good luck with whatever you do, spumanti. I definitely understand your frustration. I am close to giving up as well. I have already emailed ecare to see if I can get any other perks. If I am able to get what I asked for, I may try a few more times for SERO but I certainly won't expect much.
I have already seen my strategy get shot down twice, only to see it work for someone else.

When I got my sero through inphonic, i put in my number to port from cingular. The port didn't go through. I called Sprint up when i got my phone and they said there was no porting initiated. She was able to port my number from cingular without any problems. My advice is to just go through with the order and give Sprint a call afterwards. If it doesn't work out, you could alway cancel within 30 days. Good Luck!

Thanks, but the problem is that the order is stuck....Inphonic is refusing to push it forward. I called the phone number they quoted me, and they gave me the same story after putting me on hold for 10 min on top of the 15 min wait to talk to someone.

wow !!
just got a customer rep who was unbeleiveably rude...
it was pretty funny actually
first he couldn't find the plan in his computer.
he asked where I saw it at, and I said the sprint site, and he said I was wrong, he was looking at sprint and it was not there...
he got all hard with me, i politely asked for his supervisor, and he said no. i insisted, and he kept saying no, and said he didn't care what I wanted...
is there any way to file a complaint against him ?? i didn't even get his name or anything...

Well first i made sure i had a sprint email to refer to. What i did was google @mail.sprint.com to find an email, then went to the Sero site to make sure that it worked. Then i called *2 and asked how i would go about switching to a Sero plan. And the Girl i was talking to was extremely nice and said there is no problem she could do it in less than 5 mins. I then asked her if i could keep my 25% discount, and my free texting plan. and again she said no problem. I have found that if you play stupid you will get what u want, no questions asked. Also i might add that she never asked for the referring sprint email.
If you do google a sprint email, make sure you dont use one on the first page. Cause it will get red flagged. Good luck to all.

what are the opinions for the best SERO phone available? Id love a M500 but its not available. Fusic is a little chunky,KRZR is too much $, which leaves the A900 and katana. Opinions?
katana and the a900 both kind of suck in my opinion, you get less than 100megs of memory on both and no memory card slot. katana doesnt work for music at all and u only get like 50megs on the a900 so u can hardly fit anything on it. u might wanna look at the 8400. all the features of the fusic, but its smaller when it comes to width/height and just a little bit thicker. you get 60megs and a 64meg microsd, and can always upgrade to as much as a 2gig card, probably even bigger soon since they keep getting bigger and bigger lol.

It shouldn't. When my plan was in transition...from standard to SERO, I added 6pm nights, 5 dollar flyer credit, 2 service credits, and unlimited text.
"...but was wondering if any promotion was going on for free text instead..."
I'd take that out. promotion for text.
Jumonjii you are a life saver. Went w/o a hitch and they responded with:
"Thank you for contacting Sprint together with Nextel. I will be happy to assist you regarding text messaging.

:irked:
I got exactly the same message from SERO while waiting for my RAZR to ship. I had the SERO (inphonics)rep put thru the info to port my current Sprint number over. When I called SERO CS they told me I cannot port over a current Sprint # because it is against inphonics policy to do so.
I cancelled the order and am trying to figure a way to get the SERO 1250 plan. I will try *2 and see if I get anywhere. I cannot lose my current number beacuse of business reasons.

I have talked to almost 20 reps at this point. 10 in retentions and 10 CS. My account was finally flagged with a message stating I can only get sero through the website. :irked: If you can't get SERO, this is the closest thing I have been offered:
Family plan 1400 min $90
$15 dollar recurring credit (for power vision)
Loyalty discount 15%
Able to keep corporate discount of 23%
Two M1's for $150 each
While the SERO plan would give me 350 extra minutes, I was basically given the same thing when the loyalty discount is figured in. Maybe is a few months I can try again, but I don't think they will let me keep my 15% loyalty, and I'm sure they would take away the recurring credit. If not, that would be crazy.

Just to update my situation, I filled out one of the customer satisfaction surveys and at the end, I said my situation was unresolved. Ok tried again last night and the lady I spoke with was more than willing to switch me over. She was very nice about it but I think she could see that since our phone upgrade our acct has been messed up and they can't seem to fix it ...which is why I want to switch (lost my unlimited txt and vision on 2 of the phones and everytime they try to fix it they mess something else up) also I really don't want to keep our old numbers so not sure if that helped the situation. Problem is we upgraded phones last week and if I switch to sero I want to take them back and get the pv phones for the sero price. I hope that dosn't cause a problem...anyone get the fusic? how much or the a900m? Now I hope I don't have problems after I return the phones and call back although at this point I think I would just you the email addy of the store rep that jacked up my acct..since he is the one that has turned our plan from free and clear to confusion and chaos.....anyway good luck to everyone and it's my experience you just have to keep calling till you get a decent rep....

For a loyalty discount, those usually happen with a contract renewal. What you could do....and I don't condone lying, BUT....you could email ecare again... a fresh email, and tell them you renewed your contract because you were offered a "promotional" plan, 500 free texting, a 10 percent loyalty discount (DON'T be greedy with it) etc, etc....you are writing to confirm the changes have been made correctly and what date your new plan will take effect etc....

Would it be easier to get sign up for a new plan first, then get discouts, then switch to sero? Or does it matter when you ask for discounts. Nice, a new email address to use. You can also use specialoffer@sprint.com
Maybe someone else will know more than I do but while you should get your discounts before you switch, it won't be that easy to switch. You may get lucky and find someone who will do it for you no questions asked, or you could be unlucky and continue getting people who won't do it or don't know about it.

Too exhausting to chase the switch to SERO....I've given up.
Plus, I started feeling guilty about it....had originally planned to get my parents the two addiitonal lines for Christmas. So, I went with the two additional lines and got zero deals (being in a contract) other than my 25% discount through my employer.
Treo 700wx - $299 (after rebates)
Black Katana - $25
Blue Katana - $25
F&F 550 - 59.99
AAL - 9.99
PV on the Treo - 15
25%
$63.74/mo + tax
Oh, and now my parents can call me for free at any moment of the day through PCS to PCS..........OMG, WHAT HAVE I DONE?!?!? :scare: :bawl:
So, I know this kind of sucks.....I'm hoping I can get something out of eCare later....maybe another 10% off for loyalty....
I didn't even get free shipping or free activation. I'm hoping eCare can help with that later, as well.
I guess this goes to show that you get zippo if you don't wait until you're out of contract to negotiate. I think I tried like 15 times to get an improvement on the monthly and nothing. :irked:

i guess i got pretty lucky. i just changed my plan not long ago and was only a couple months into my contract. saw the stuff about sero and the savings@sprint.com so i sent ecare an email and said i was looking to switch to a cheaper plan and "a friend told me about sero and they just switched to it and just had to renew their contract. got an email back saying i could switch no problem just do it on the sero site if i had any problems they gave me a number. i just called the number and got a really nice rep. she said she hadnt done a sero plan b4 and give her a minute to look it up. she put me on hold for about 5 minutes, said sorry for the wait she wasnt sure how to get to the sero stuff. after she found it she switched me over in less than 2 minutes reviewed my plan and what id be paying a month and that was it. i went from paying $85.99 for f&f 450 n/w @ 7, unlimited text, ultimate power vision, and insurance, down to $51 for sero 500, unlimited power vision with picture and video mail, unlimited text, and insurance. now i just have to wait for my next bill to see if i still got the $10 credit i got when i changed my stuff a couple months ago and if i still get my 17% discount. if i do ill be very happy and never even think about leaving sprint lol.

The "shared" plan is just a standard fair and flex for families. Notice what it includes and compare it to sprint.com standard offerings

Then you direct them to the website. I don't care what THEIR system says, that's not public access. THEIR webpage says 7pm nights. That's what customers see.
Agreed. Your qualified for SERO so the "right plan" promise should let you switch to 7pm nights included as long as your within the 1st 3 months of signing the contract.

With the free-for-all SERO offer thats in effect right now, I'm halfway interested in getting a data card and running with it.
Only thing that concerned me was one line in the plan details: Roaming 0.50/min.
So does that mean data roaming is not included as it supposedly is with the handsets?
^^^ Check the quote. ^^^
Figured I'd try to ask this one again. Anybody know?

Analog Roaming isn't included.
Digital Roaming is.
50 cents per minute for analog roam.
All powervision phones can not analog roam anyways. Plus, analog roaming is about useless unless your right next to the tower :(

The problem I am having is that they claim that they can not access www.sprint.com/sero/ ...as they do not have internet access?
The other is that they can not find the plan....I tried ecare, 2 days no answer?

I have a great plan, as you can see below. My question is should I switch my plan to SERO 500. I only use about 500 minutes a month anyway. Any if I went over I doubt the additional minutes would eclipse what I am currently paying. Any thoughts? I'm still in contract. Plus I dont have Vision on my plan. I dont really use it anyway but it would be nice

copy and paste the plan details and email it to ecare and ask that your plan be corrected to reflect the correct offering from sprint.com/sero.
Some call centers cant access the internet, while others (like retentions) generally can. Retentions may be your last resort if ecare cant help you.

Has anyone gotten free text messages since the SERO program went "public"?
I've been watching this and other SERO threads, but it's not clear when people got their text messaging approved.
I don't want to look a gift (SERO) horse in the mouth, but I'm a new customer coming from Cingular and am not used to paying for INCOMING text messages. After contacting e-care a few times, I was consistently quoted the 300/500/unlimited plans that I've seen on this board, but I just can't imagine paying for someone to text me. Inconceivable!

You can restrict who you recieve text messages from. You may be able to get $8 unlimited text messages if your polite, but true free texting wont be easy to come by for a true new customer. Most had some history with sprint that got free texts.

Thanks for the quick response. I'm pretty sure I'll go ahead and pay for the 300 texts... I was just hoping that Sprint would give some to me for free due to my being a new customer from Cingular and not used to paying for incoming.
I'm trying to get an idea if I'm wasting the CSR's time by calling again. I'm getting the impression that there is a message in the system advising CSR's not to add free texts to SERO plans.
I'm very happy with my plan as it is, but I'm already paying 15 more than I was with Cingular (for my 2 new SERO lines) so I'd like to get a break if I can.

Is anyone else getting the run around when signing up through the website? I originally signed up with savings@sprint.com. It took awhile, but finally yesterday afternoon my order showed as being approved by Sprint on the website. Later that day, the website switched back to saying your order has been sent to sprint for approval blah blah blah. I contacted Sprint through the online chat and was told yes my order was approved and he would note it to be rushed for activation.
This morning, I get an email saying my order was denied because Sprint does not have coverage in my area. So I get on with chat and ask about my order. I am told Sprint does not have coverage in my area. I tell her that that is not true I have a line of service with Sprint now. At this point she flat out tells me I am not getting Sero and won't tell me why.

If you have a current account with Sprint, you won't be able to sign up through the website and port your number over. You will have to sign up for a new line of service and either pay for two lines or terminate your existing line.

I just got off the phone with the Loyalty Group, I'm assuming. They called me back to my "unresolved" ecare email.

Wow..... that is crazy that Sprint is being all wierd about it. I think the promo is really intended to be used online.
Unless Sprint changed them, the sero codes are as follows:
Vision ends in MBU
Powervision ends in EVDO
#C SERO F&F MBU $30
#C SERO F&F EVDO $30
#C SEROF&FMBU $49.99
#C SEROF&FEVDO$49.99
#C SEROF&FMBU $99.99
#C SEROF&FEVDO$99.99
I was able to get my friend's account switched over from Employee Accounts.
The Loyalty Group may be able to do it.
Rententions (Account Services) may be able to do it if you get the right rep.
As far as texting goes, you can send them from picture mail.

i tried that twice...and all they could find was the pm.
I just went through the same thing. Previously eCare said I could get N&W at 7pm for free, but they had a problem with my account and told me to call in. I called in and they said it can't be added to my plan. They updated my account notes to say it's not possible with my plan even though it was noted on my account to add it. Now I told them about the SERO update for 7pm and they said they can't find it in the system. I will try email eCare to see if they can set me at 7pm.
Another question I had is I currently have 4 lines with SERo (3 @ 500 and 1 @ 1250). I'm looking to do a liability transfer and get the other 3 lines off on their own with their SERO plans. I also have FIMF and 500 texts on each line (1 line has unlimted text @ $8). Would these two addons come over with the plan on the transfer? I was also going to try to get loyalty discount (about to be 9 years with Sprint). Should I add it now for each line or wait till they are their own seperate accounts? Would my business discount go over with them too (if not can I get a CSR to add it to each)? Thanks for your help.

A transfer of liability should keep the same plan as long as they are keeping the same number. They are just agreeing to be laible for the service charges and termination fee in replacement of you.
It is unlikely you will receive a loyalty discount. SERO plans are so cheap as it is, sprint will not generally want to give you any other discounts.

Why not ask for the $8 unlimited pack? At $8 per line its a 50% savings over what you are charged for unlimited normally.
Sprint may charge for all texts, sent or recieved, but atleast they offer an unlimited plan that I'm told cingular doesnt offer.
Welcome to better service!

Ok, If I start a SERO plan I have tons of quest.
1. Can I use an old phone and just sign up for the plan without the phone/contract? How?
2. If I have a 23% discount on a family plan, can this one go on the same account? Will the discount be applied?
how about loyalty discounts?

1) No.... you have to sign a contract for all but one of sprints plans. SERO plans require a contract.
2) Discounts are not supposed to be applied agianst SERO.

1. Get a popular phone that is cheap on thier website, such as the Fusic, then ebay it. The phone will cost you 50, then sell it for 200. Keep the 150, and you have 75% of the ETF if you ever wanted to cancel.
2. It shouldnt be done, but that doesnt mean it hasnt been done.

I had quite the experience setting up a new sero line under the savings@ email address. After filling in the info and submitting it to infonic/wirefly/sprint/whatever, I got an email from 'sprintexpress' telling me that the order was received and the status can be viewed by clicking the link to the whereismyorder.com/whatever site. After a few hours, the link claimed that sprint had denied my order, due to either needing more information or a lack of credit - I forget the exact words. I connected to one of the online chat people for inphonic, and got them to give me a contact number and credit application number so I could figure out why Sprint would deny me - after all, I have had another Sprint account for years and years. Anyhow, they told me to call 8665421248, press 2-1-2, and give them my cXXXXXXX number. Turns out, that's a number for 3rd party vendors to call and check on customer credit problems/etc. After a while, I ended up speaking with a nice rep, and told him I was confused.. I had been told to call this number because I was declined. I explained that I placed the order directly through the sprint website, that I was then handed off to someone else, who then appeared to be trying to sign me up with another carrier (that's the offer they had listed, anyhow). He told me that I was approved, without a spending limit or deposit, up to five lines.. So I called Infonic four different times on four different phone numbers (after waiting about 15 mins each time before speaking with someone apparently from India [no offense]), and finally got them to tell me that they would have it manually reviewed by their activation department and they would get back to me within 24 hours. This was last weekend.. Then on Monday, I see they were able to see that I was in fact approved although they had told me on the whereismyorder.com website and in live chat that I was denied.
Long story short... If they say you are denied, better check with Sprint.. Try to get the application number from inphonic through their online chat system using your order number, and then call that number above. . When I called it, I said yes to the first answer 'if I was reviewing', and was xferred. Then, 'I said I'm not sure' to the question about dealer number and played the part of the dumb consumer and explained what was going on. The guy at Sprint was very nice.
Phone arrived a few days later. Sprint's website had my new plan with nights starting at 9pm, so I had to call cust. service and let them know that the referral flyer I had along with the sprint.com/sero website stated my nights started at 7pm. It was an easy fix. Went to a local store, but they apparently are prohibited from looking at or modifying any SERO plans. They noticed that I didn't have any picture pack attached to the plan. Called cust care, and they put unlimited text on the plan for 10.00 without any trouble at all. They also added the code for the picture/video pack that was missing. Maybe I can convince them for the 5.00 rate that my old plan has on it, but I am not holding my breath.
Anyhow, thought I would share my thoughts on this.

When I signed up over the phone last week (had to call to port my Tmobile # cuz the SERO site doesn't have an option), they told me that I'd get 7pm N&W, and after a week of thinking I had that, I checked my online account summary and it says 9pm. I do have picture mail activated though (i think--it let me log in, and I have the option on the phone), which i thought they usually forgot to do too.
what should I do? anyone think i might be able to use this as an excuse to segway into 500 free texts?

IMHO, the 700p is better suited as a phone, while the 6700 is better suited as a PDA. I've had both, preferred neither, and generally have used Windows/CE/etc over Palm. An opinion, of course.

yea ive never used either in the past. i had a 10 yr old nokia and im a nerd, so i want a phone like one of these. i figured id need to try both myself, cuz both are rated pretty much the same on places like phonescoop (treo edges out a bit usually). i dont feel like the phone on the treo is really great. people say they cant hear me very well either. o and i heard that the 6700 is faster with evdo. that sells me. i like the higher res. on the treo tho

Perhaps a bit further... The keyboard on the 700 is a pain in the butt. I wouldnt say that I have huge hands, but it's the type of keyboard that you have to pay attention to in order to use it. No wifi = deal killer for most. Text messaging, in additon, doesn't have predictive text like the 6700 (at least, mine didn't). The 6700, while great since it's based on Windows, sucks battery life like no other especially when you use wifi, and the screen is hard to see in the day time.
Both have their quirks.. Perhaps the newer Treo 700w might solve some of these issues, or the newer Blackberry options.

I'm wondering what I'll think of the 700wx (mine is on its way - should have it at the end of next week)....I touch-type entirely. I never look at the keyboard. I am extremely slow when typing with one finger but can crank out about 75 words a minute touch-typing.....I suppose it will take some getting used to.

Well, I have pretty big fingers/hands myself but I don't find any trouble typing on my 700wx.
I've finally switched to SERO!!!
I bought an a900 the day afterthanksgiving for cheap and when I found out about sero I didn't know if I'd be able to switch but all I did was call CS and ask to switch my plan. It did take MANY calls, about 15 total, but it's done!
Some reps had never heard of sero and some have. As for the free texts, I've emailed ecare, and ecare1,2,3. i just bcc'd them the same message and one came through and i now have 500 free texts!
I did have a few problems though:
1. several reps said "it's not possible with your phone/current plan." or "this is only offered online" or "only for sprint employees" or "need the referrer's email/id. If any of this happens just say thank you for you help, and CALL AGAIN. The only thing I needed was an email but I think you can get by without it. Depends on who you talk to.
2. When I finally got my plan switched, I checked online and saw it was the wrong sero plan. This meant MORE calls, but I got it fixed.
3. I also had 9pm nights. This meant MORE calls but I had them put a note saying 7pm nights, free vision, can switch to other sero plans later on my account. So I got it changed to 7pm nights.
If you ever get stonewalled or someone just doesn't sound like they know what they're doing, just say thank you, and call again.
Also, I now ask what dept i'm being transferred in case I get disconnected or they transfer me elsewhere by accident and I can get the new person to transfer me to where i'm supposed to be. This way you won't have to recall cs and start over. (learned that the hard way.)

Hey folks,
I'm still in a bit of a sticker shock but ....(drum roll)...I managed to get the SERO plan after talking to a nice rep last night! Hehe...which make me wonder what I did "wrong" because I never manage to get the good deals out of the reps unlike other folks here ;) (and I've been with Sprint for a long time )
He wasn't able to put on the 7 pm though. Well, I called them after an hour and got a nice lady rep who after my pointing out that currently Sprint is offering the 7pm nights, she did some digging and noted that I didn't have 7 pm but I had 800 minutes on the plan. Well, I requested her to give me the 7 pm and take the minutes down to 500 if necessary and she said "Ok" and I think she just left the minutes as they are and gave me the 7 pm (when she was summarizing, she said 800 minutes so I'm not sure if she changed the minutes or not).
A question for all of you experts here: is there anywhere on the Sprint website where it lists the NWLD minutes that are included with the plan ? I see the following under my plan details but no mention of minutes:
Sprint Fair & Flexible Plan
* Adjustable Anytime Minutes
* $30 Minimum Monthly Charge
* AMERICA - ROAMING Included
* Nationwide Long Distance Included

Well, good luck to others out there. FYI: It did take me having to call and talk with a few diff reps last three days and was earlier given the runaround as a lot of them don't even know about the Sero plan. Last night, I went with the attitude that if they do it, well and good else its not the end of the world. Trust me, its not!
To the nice Sprint reps if ur reading this: thanks muchos!!! I've been loyal and thanks for recognizing that.
Happy holidays,

Why not ask for the $8 unlimited pack? At $8 per line its a 50% savings over what you are charged for unlimited normally.
The thing is, I don't see myself using/recieving enough texts to need unlimited texting, which is why I'd be happy even if Sprint could even just give me free incoming texting to match my Cingular plan (yes, I know its not something they offer.. they've told me!)
I did the math and as long as I get fewer than 33 texts per phone/month, I won't need to sign up for a text plan after all. Since I can send texts from the internet and through my free picturemail, I think I can keep under the 33 text mark.
Maybe after the influx of new customers slows a bit, I can try to get comp'ed texts again. It just kills me to have to pay to recieve a text! 15 cents? Yuck.

1. Get a popular phone that is cheap on thier website, such as the Fusic, then ebay it. The phone will cost you 50, then sell it for 200. Keep the 150, and you have 75% of the ETF if you ever wanted to cancel.
I cant edit my own post. Odd. On the SERO website it says you must keep the phone active on your account for a certain time period (180 days), so disregard my advise to buy a phone and ebay it. They may not charge a fee if you dont keep it active, but do so at your own risk.

They offer 500 text for free.
That's 250 in and out if you look at it that way.

You must be on a plan of 34.99 or higher. Just the base plan, not including insurance, texting, or anything else you may or may not pay for. The good news is you save much more than 150 dollars a year with SERO, and if you save up that money, you can feel free to upgrade whenever you want. If you are out of your contract, it should be pretty easy to get retentions to agree to give you a deal on a new phone. If you switch plans a year from now, and you have had your phone for 24 months, but are not out of contract, it will be tougher, but possible.

Problem is, they aren't offering 500, nor 300 for that matter... to me. I tried through e-care and customer support, hoping they'd do something to match my text plan at Cingular... no dice. If you know a way to get this free texting that they offer, let me know. I'm in.

Has anyone tried this "savings@sprint.com" to sign up for SERO and had complications with it when you call in and they ask you to verify the employee email yet?
didnt the posted image of the flyer have "openaccess@sprint.com" as the listed email address?

each plan i believe. shared plans base the MRC off the primary plan.
$30 SERO technically wont get a rebate, but the rebate program will probably change 5 times between now and when you would be eligible!

Currently my month bill is 62 dollars with 27 dollar worth of discounts plus about 4 dollars in taxes. So I end up paying about 40 a month.
I want to switch to the SERO plan, but having a hard time deciding which plan. I basically can switch to the SERO 500 keeping all my discounts and I'd be paying like 24 bucks a month but I won't be able to get a discount on a new phone in 7 months (my A900 is starting to show its age).
Or I could get the SERO 1250 and keep all my discount and I'd literally be paying the same thing I do now since I wouldn't have to pay for Internet separately anymore.

Actually, I just switched over, this is my first time with Sprint. I'm so happy with the price of my SERO plan, I'm not going to push it.
The original point of my post was that I was wondering if any other new customers had success getting free texts.

I have been with Sprint for 5.5 years. The first three phones on my account have free text (as all phones did back in those days, as it was a selling point for SMS capable phones, and please no SMS/TEXT debates!)
The last three phones on my account do not, however one of them does not even have a vision plan, and is not charged for vision or for text. It also gets a $5.00 DL credit each month. I have no idea why it is any different than the 5th line which was opened at the same time with the same exact phone type.... I have yet to find a CSR tell me why, the only explanation they can give me is for the 5th line which gets charged $0.10 per picture mail sent, even though it has the pictures pack....
I have tried to get free texts, I requested 20 or 50 and they will not do it.

For existing users trying to switch to SERO, they should not refer to this image since it specifically says it's for new lines of service. It's probably best to try and get by with the email address by itself. I can't see any CSR taking a look at the flier and then proceed to switch anyone over.
But I'm sure stranger things have happened....

One option i do not see that you can easily add on through the SERO site is insurance (TEP). I guess that's something you should just call in to CS after your account is established to add on (within 14 or 30 days ofcourse). Any thoughts?

I emailed ecare through the website to confirm changes to the SERO plan on my account and got an email back (from ecare3@cc.sprintpcs.com) stating Nights and Weekends start at 9pm. Also they say since I switched to the SERO plan, I'm no longer eligible for my corporate discount.
Anyone have similar issues?
When I talked to the rep on the phone to make the switch, she told me 7pm and that my corporate discount would not change.
I guess I have to call CS tomorrow to straighten this out. Why can't Sprint get their information straight!!!??? :bang:

New SERO plans have 7pm nights according to the site. eCare is generally based in India and therefore may not have access to the same info as domestic call centers have.
Technically SERO is not supposed to have additional discounts. Honestly, the plan is dirt cheap as it is! If you manage to get your discount, be very happy!

15% Loyalty Discount

I assume u were able to remain with the same phone number and were u on or off contract? Did u get a new phone with this? Did u do this by email or phone? I seem unable to get my plans changed to sero. I only have 2 months left on contract and then will likely just cancel and restart with sero if i cant get it done before then.

I was able to get Customer Service to change the 9pm to 7pm on my account. I must have called 5-6 times to talk to a rep who had the correct information on their computers. I told her the sprint.com/sero website showed N+W starts at 7pm but she had limited access on her computer. She finally found the correct SERO code which is #C SERO F&F 7N EVDO.
I also asked her about my corporate discount and she said it's still in effect. I guess ecare did not make changes to my account.
Hope this info helps someone.

Is it worth switching to Sero from a retention plan? I have 1,000 anytime and Vision for $50 per month. Seems like switching to the Sero 1,250 minute plan will cost me the same $50, but give me 250 more anytime minutes. Everything else seems to be the same. Am I missing anything?

It really depends on your usage and needs.
I have a coworker who switched from a family plan to 3 seperate sero 1250 plans but his usage is really low. He could actually go with 3 sero 500 plans but he wants the "pillow" just in case. His internet usage is mainly picture mail and ringers.
Don't switch your plan if it's working for your needs already.

I can agree with that. I gave up on trying to get SERO. What really attracted me was the free Vision. I called in to discuss something not related to SERO and at the end of the call, the rep gave me free free Vision for a month. Nothing out of the ordinary. A few days later, the only time I have touched Vision was when I forced myself to. Looks like I don't need SERO after all. A new phone might be nice though.......

Newbie here...been reading this forum for a little while though, especially this SERO thread.
Could use some advice from some of the "discount geniuses" here (particularly jumonjii - but everyone is welcome for input!) :)
I understand it's best to try to get all the discounts/freebies before trying to switch over to SERO. I also understand that I would have to have 2 seperate SERO accounts being I currently have the add-a-phone deal now. Are these both correct?
My current contract expires in March 07. I have been with Sprint for over 4 years.
My Current Plan:
---------------------------------------------------
Sprint PCS Fair & Flexible Plan
Phone 1
Adjustable Anytime Minutes
$70 Minimum Monthly Charge
Nationwide Long Distance Included
Unlimited Night & Weekend Mins. Included (9PM)
Caller ID, Call Waiting
Three-way Calling
Voicemail
+ $6 Total Equipment Protection
Phone 2
PCS Add-a-phone
$0.00 Monthly Service Charge
Caller ID, Call Waiting
Three-way Calling
Voicemail
+ $5.00 Sprint PCS Vision Pictures Pack
-23% Corporate Discount
Total = approx $76/mo for both phones
-----------------------------------------------------
What kind of promotions are available that I can/should try to get discounted? I definitely would like to get the Night & Weekends to 7PM (6PM would be great!). Free text and Vision? Also, to get these discounts, should I email all the eCare email addresses (using bcc as suggested by jumonjii I believe  )
I'd also like to get a new phone (probably the A900-anyone know if I can get this for free somehow?!). I should try to get the new phone before switching to SERO, correct?

What I really want from the sero plan is the new phone. While it would be nice to get the SERO 500 plan, it doesn't seem like a slam dunk. Does anyone know if its possible to get the phone for the SERO price? I'd love to get the Treo 700 for $299 instead of $649.

Your best option would be to email ecare. For whatever reason, they are being very particular when you respond. Include the folling information in your emails:
account username
phone number
account number
mailing address
Depending on how long you've been with Sprint depends on the options they will offer you.
Sometimes they will tell you to call in.
My approach, to prevent that response anyway, was to tell them (in the email) that I've had nothing but problems with *2 reps (rude, hung up on, wouldn't help, etc) and that you are emailing because "a friend" said ecare is more responsive. If they suggest to call a rep, the next call I'll be making is to executive services.
Only use that option if there is a legitimate gripe, not if you are inquiring about promotional offers.
I personally don't like the a900 but that's just me. It's unlikely you will get a discounted phone without a contract renewal, or if your rebate status has been reached. It's more unlikely you will get it for free.
I would inquire if your account qualifies for "promotional" offers first. Specifically 6pm nights, texting, FIMF, roaming, or mobile to mobile.
Then I would inquire about the holiday special on sero that is available to everyone using the referral email savings@sprint.com. Telling them you have no problem extending your contract for the plan may help.
Good luck!

As long as ya actually got mention from a sprint rep of sero, then it's easy to just phone *2 (granted takes a few times to get a rep who even knows what sero is at times), took me 5 calls to them to get it sorted.

Well E-Care has been worthless for me. I currently have 2 phones on a 2500 min shared plan, w/ unlimited Vision & SMS on both phones. I also have a data card. I emailed E-Care asking if I could get switched to SERO under the openaccess deal. They basically wrote me back and said I had to use the web page, I had to lose my phone numbers, and I had to pay a $150 ETF x 3 lines. They said it wasn't possible to switch.
I wrote back saying "friends" have been able to do it, and that it was stupid to pay $450 to "cancel" nothing, since I wasn't canceling! The same idiot wrote me back and basically blew me off.
Any ideas? I really don't want to deal with the idiots at InPhonics, I really don't want a new phone, and I don't want to pay a damn $450 ETF when I'm not even canceling!

please dont do it!! anything but that! lol. do yourself a favor and go to a sprint store, go the the razr, open it, dial a #, and then watch in awe as you see how slow they are lol. that has to be 1 of the biggest pos phones ever made. i still dont see y so many people get them, probably cause you can get em so cheap for any carrier. if i had to choose between the a900 for 5 years and the razr for a month id take the a900 lol.
if you like thin phones samsungs new phone isnt bad, much better than the a900. its the m610 heres a link for it http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=1058
a little bit lighter, thinner, better cam, microsd card slot. the only thing the a900 has on the m610 is the external screen.

i just told the girl i got on the phone with that i sent ecare an email about switching to sero and they said id be able to, but had to do it on the site and if i had any problems i could call that number. i told her that i called because on the site it only let you pick with a new phone and i was just getting the plan. tell them your friend was able to switch his the day before or something(thats what i did), and it also helps if your at a computer as you do this and you have the sero page open with the plan details. thats how i made sure i got all the right things on mine.
the reps on that number seem to be a lot more helpful than when i dial *2 and i get connected really fast instead of sitting on hold waiting for 10min before i even speak to someone, but expect to be on the phone for a good 20min or so if your switching to sero, they usually have to get approval from a supervisor and they put you on hold a good 5-10min.
hope this helps you or anyone else thats trying for sero and not getting any luck.
p.s. use the openaccess@sprint.com email. the savings@sprint.com email ended so it wont work anymore

Long story short, I have two numbers on a family plan that I want to port over to new SERO accounts. One number is not under contract and the other is until the end of next week (12/29 or so).
Is it possible to port the numbers? Do I jsut do it conventionally through the sero website or do I have to call them? OR should I call *2?

i think right now you can just call *2 and get changed over to sero of your choice but i don't know if they are offering new phones as well

well...
i'm still having absolutely no luck at all getting switched to SERO
I've tried ecare a bunch, called in easily over 100 times in the past week or two...
I'm about to just get a $20 prepaid phone at walmart, and port my number over to that for a few days, then back to Sprint for a SERO plan...
has anyone done that? did they have any problems doing it ??
I am still in contract, but I do have a $50 credit if I renew my contract right now, so I'm just going to call up and have that credit applied, then immediately cancel, so my ETF is only $100... Then i'll be able to get a new phone, and then just sell my A900 on ebay or something, to make up for the $100 eft.
i guess maybe i'll have better luck trying to switch, when I seriously call in to cancel...

also, i've been a sprint customer right now for abou t1.5 yrs.
canceling and getting a prepaid number for a few dyas, then porting back to sprint for the sero plan, will that "reset" me being a sprint customer back to 0 yrs ?? (i hope that makes sense)
I'm assuming it does, but i want to check...

When you port out and cancel, I believe you have to wait 30 days before you can port back and are considered a "new" customer.
I still can't figure out why switching to sero is so difficult.... maybe it's what people are saying...

I gave them the openaccess email, I told them I didn't need a new phone, and I told them a friend did it. They didn't seem to care.
And sorry, but 1-888-211-4727 is just the external number for Customer Care (*2). Same people, same queue, same everything. You just happened to get a "good" rep, that's all. :(
To the person that asked why is getting SERO so hard. You tell me. I have a feeling it's just a mix of Sprint not communicating the openaccess@ deal properly internally & the fact that they just want to encourage new signups, not give existing customers a deal.
I hope they realize that this BS is NOT making me want to refer more people to them, however.

It very well could be what I'm saying... but i dont know
I'm never rude to them (except once when the rep cussed at me, so of course i let him have it)...
it's just, for me, 99% of the time I call, the rep knows exactly what SERO is, and they immediately direct me to the website, and say i have to get a new number...
I've told them my friend just called in and got switched no problem, but that does nothing, they tell me it's impossible

It's the call center I bet. Business Customer Service is more helpful that regular customer service. So is Employee Accounts.

WOW !! :headbang2
i'm still in a little shock
Just got a rep who switched me over with no problems, effective today
I called 877-812-1223
said my friend just switched over to SERO500, and I was interested in doing the same.
she didn't put up a fight or direct me to website or anything...
it did take her a good 15min of either searching or doing something, but she got it switched.
Then i asked her to verify, and it was all right, nights starting at 7, everything seemed right !!!
I'll have to wait til my online account updates, to see if it's all set.
does anyone know when that updates?? or does it just depend ?
anyways. Thanks to everyone in this thread, and dont give up. I called over 100 times, and finally switched !!

Business Customer Service. Gotta love em
The update online depends on how the rep set it. If it's immediate, then usually within an hour or so. Don't be shocked when you get a large bill due to prorated charges.
If you have the rep set it to switch at the start of the billing cycle it's much smoother and less confusing.

If you've been with Sprint for...apparently a good 2 years, why don't you call into retentions? They could probably do a lot better than a SERO plan, and way better if you keep the family plan :deal:

I'm having trouble with SERO as well. I talked to so many different departments today my head is spinning. I heard all of the excuses; "new lines of service only", "not available in your area" (except it is on the website), "I can't find the code, I'll call you back", "call this numer", etc... It's driving me nuts!!!
Right now I have 550 minutes for $59.99 on 2 shared lines. They gave me 1000 minutes for $60 starting next month but that is it. I was nice to everyone I talked to but I'm ready to blow. :)
I am trying ecare now, hopefully that'll work out. :fingers:

Honestly, just stick with the 1000AT for $60 and see if they will thrown in:
6 or 7pm nights
roaming
500 text messages per line
discounted vision
loyalty discount
business discount that you may qualify for.

I am an existing customer 4+ years and have been out of contract since May.
Yesterday, I signed up for a SERO account on the inPhonic website. I checked off the port request to keep my existing Sprint number and was approved by Sprint. I then called inPhonic's customer assistance to have the shipping address changed to my business address and asked if I was approved to keep my Sprint number. The rep (who was apparently in India), took down all my information and said everything was approved.
Later that day, I checked the www.whereismystuff.com site and found that my shipping address had NOT been changed. I then initialed an on-line chat through the www.whereismystuff.com site. The shipping address was changed, and immediately reflected in the site. The rep wrote that my order had to go back to Sprint for approval of the line port.
This morning I initiated another on-line chat and was told that the account was still being reviewed by Sprint, but that they would ship out my phone overnight. Later today, I received an e-mail from inPhonic saying that I "currently not eligible to transfer your existing phone number to Sprint PCS ®." I had a choice: either keep 2 lines (my existing and the new SERO) or cancel the SERO line now. :irked:
I then called Retentions and regular CS. One rep told me I was her first SERO, but ultimately was unable to help, and suggested that I cancel my old account. One CS rep said that he could not access SERO, and neither could his supervisor and sent me to Retentions. Finally one Retentions rep gave me the number for Employee Accounts (as he could not transfer me because the system is slow)
I talked to a (male) rep in Employee Accounts who took the openaccess@sprint.com and, after half an hour, switched me to a 500 minute SERO account effective today, and sent me a Treo 700p for $249.99, 2nd day shipping. :headbang2
Since I have a Vision Phione now, I was given the Vision SERO and will have to change to a PowerVision SERO once my Treo arrives. At that point I will see about getting some free texts. :fingers:
MORAL OF THE STORY: Persistence pays off!
UPDATE: I just checked the Sprint web site and it shows the normal F&F SERO plan. However, it also shows that I am still purchasing Unlimited Vision for $10.00.
Oh well, another call to Sprint. Or do any of you think it would be better to go through e-care and see about 500 texts at the same time? I don't want to be greedy or push my luck. However, no guts, no glory.
Thank you to all who posted their stories and tips. It really helped me!

Can some1 please help me decide if sero is best for me...
Right now, I have:
1000min, $50 shared
Line 1: 15$ unlimted vision, sms, pictures, vid ($10 Credit)
Line 2: $7.50 same as above
both have M2M, H2M, and free roaming
My bill after tax and discount comes to about $50
IS IT WORTH IT TO GO SERO500/$30 each line?

I ordered my Fusic about 6pm on Thursday. Spoke to a rep on Friday who assured me things were OK. Sunday, still no info on shipping on my phone. Spoke to a rep on Monday. When he told me that my phone would arrive by Friday, even though it hadn't even been shipped yet, I was a bit skeptical. So I asked him what call center he was in, what his name was, and what his representative ID was. He immediately put me on hold for about 5 minutes. When he came back, he gave me all that information. I checked the whereismyorder website, and lo and behold! Not only was there shipping information, but my phone was being sent next day air.
Moral: Always, always, always document who said what and when!

Inphonic has been massively slow about orders, I'm guessing Christmas rush ? When my husband got his Razr w/ SERO it took barely a day for him to get a credit check/etc and the order processed.
When I did the same two days ago for a Sanyo 8400, I was immediately approved for credit and the whereismyorder site said it would be shipped out as soon as my credit card was billed --- then that afternoon it reverted back to the "We have sent your order to Sprint PCS for approval" and it said "Processing" instead of "Credit Approved" !
It's been two days. What gives, Inphonic? I've never had an order take so long to even get to the processing stage. Are they (Inphonic) out of stock of the phone or is Sprint dropping the ball on this one? Oh and I have yet to receive any email about the order.

I ordered last Friday the 15th, still at "We are reviewing & processing your order".
The only e-mail I have received is the initial order one form sprintexpress.com.
I'm guessing they are swamped too. Christmas and the open enrollment.

It can be done.
I made one call to *2 and had my sisters line switched to the SERO 500 plan. They were trying to direct me to the website but I played dumb and they did it over the phone.

I'm still getting the SERO run around so I did ask about other options for upgrading my service. They put me on a new contract yesterday without my consent. :scare: I spoke with a man who offered me one thing, I told him I would have to think about it, and he said he would call me back. But when I called later they said it had been changed and I never okayed that. JERKS!!! I have been there 5 years, always paid on time or early, have never gotten a credit for anything, but they are still giving me the shaft. :irked:
I got 2 emails back from ecare today to my 1 email I sent. The first said SERO was for new customers only. The second one said SERO is for new or existing customers but I would have to get a new phone number. GRRR, they need to get their story straight!

Of course, a few hours after I post, here comes an email from Inphonic saying my order is approved and is being shipped :p
I hope the one I got doesn't have a buggy camera; anyone know if I would do the exchange at my local Sprint store or if I need to send it back to Inphonic?

I've got a tracking number, package expected arrival is 7pm today.
My SERO is a new account, I have an existing account that is approx 5 yrs old.
I was approved on Thursday evening, gave Sprint a deposit on Fri. I called InPhonics on Saturday, since there was no update to the whereismyorder page. I called InPhonics on Monday morning, as it still wasn't reading what I wanted it to (Like, your phone is waiting for you!).
I did get my credit union discount on my SERO line, but the rep said that I was only able to apply one (I'm in 3 credit unions).
