Hello All,

I would appreciate if you could help me choose between 700p and 700wx. I know the basic differences between these based on my research here. I have the following questions:

(1) Which of these two is more stable (less resets and hanging-up problems) - From my search here I saw that many had that problem with 700p, but almost none with 700wx. That sounds a little strange because we have come to expect these problems mainly from Windows-based systems. Also, in general what do you have to say about stability of 700wx or 700p.

(2) Bluetooth experience- Bluetooth headsets also seems to have a problem with 700p. What is your experience as far as 700wx is concerned.

(3) Voice quality is very important to me. Do you think one has better voice quality compared to the other?

(4) Speed - Is 700wx significantly slower than 700p in loading applications? What about internet speed; is that different or similar?

Thanks in advance. Would be very helpful if you could share your knowledge.

No one knows these things. I know it is difficult because very few people might have used both. However, it would be great if 700x users just write about their experience regarding stability of their device...the phone resetting itself etc. Same about the 700p users. Ii is possible that palm has fixed the issue by now and 700p has become more stable. So more recent buyers, I would appreciate if you can let me know what you feel.

Thanks for your help

Hello from a 700wx user

1) I haven't had any trouble in terms of stability. Sure, when I have added new applications, I have had to perform soft resets. But then again, that's pretty normal. Stability wise, I haven't had any issues here.

2) I use a Samsung WEP200 bluetooth headset. It works great with this phone. I never experience drop out and it works like a charm every single time. Great sound quality. Good battery life. I would highly recommend it.

3) I haven't noticed any issue with voice quality. Everything sounds just fine to me.

4) I'd say the 700wx is pretty darn quick.

All in all, I would highly recommend the 700wx. I've had mine for a few months now and haven't regretted it one bit. Hope this helps! Good luck in your search.

That was one reason I was hesitating on answering, just because I haven't used both devices. I've played with the 700w and wx and they're a very different experience for me since I've mainly used Palm OS devices. With that being said, here are some answers to your questions.

1) I get very few random resets with my 700p; I've probably had maybe 4 or 5 since I got it in early June. It also seems pretty stable... every now and then it will freeze or lockup, but that's with any phone I think.

2) I only use bluetooth when sending files to another phone; in doing that it's fine. I remember trying my Logitech bluetooth headset with a regular BT-enabled phone and it worked much better than with my Treo, but I don't remember if that was with the 650 or the 700p, as I've had both.

3) Voice quality seems fine to me... I haven't heard any complaints. Speakerphone is a different issue... most people tell me they hear a pretty severe echo when using speakerphone, so I only use it when I'm calling something automated or I'm on hold or something.

4) The 700p is pretty quick for the most part when it comes to loading applications. The slowest app starting for me is Blazer, which usually loads in a couple of seconds but every now and then takes almost 30 seconds, which is ridiculous. When loading apps from the SD card you have to wait for it to copy to the internal RAM 1st, so that varies depending on the size of the app. For browsing the web it's pretty quick as well... not as fast as being on a computer but I believe that bottleneck is with the processors they put in these things (~300 MHz).

Thanks very much Kulnet and Jaggrey. I really appreciate your comments. General search suggests that less people are having problems with 700wx and your comments seem to support that.
Kulnet and any other 700wx users, can you please let me know if you have had random resets and freezes/lockups.
Jaggrey can you please share approx. how many times you have had freezes/lockups (I am assuming that the number you have given is for resets which is different than a freeze.

I played with a 700p for a few minutes at a Sprint store. I tried to run live TV on it twice and it reset itself both the times about 5 seconds after the TV started playing.

Anyone else, if you could share your experience like Kulnet and Jaggrey have done, it would be very helpful.

Thanks.

Mine has never radomly reset on its own. Ever. Period. As far as freezing or locking up, that hasn't happened either. I run a lot of apps on mine so I'm pretty pleased with the results thus far.

I've had maybe 2 of each. It doesn't happen enough for me to complain about it. Every now and then doing something with the multimedia will cause it to reset, but then sometimes when u do the same thing it's fine... doesn't reset at all.

I thought very hard about going to the Wx but in the end, I've stuck with the P. I really like the Windows interface, but I think I would really miss the one-handed operation, most specifically email. I really don't have any problems with resets or any of the other problems that people complain of, except for some bluetooth issues. But I've found that is mainly my fault, for wandering too far away from the phone...

Thanks guys. Now you have got me thinking about these again. I had started leaning towards Blackberry (despite the other disadvantages it has) for stability and flawless bluetooth performance.
