Hi all,
Thanks in advance for help on this topic.
For those of you that are in the know, I have a few questions below and would like advice on what’s the best way for me to proceed.
My situation:
Been with sprint since 1997, and slowly adding more lines to this account…
Currently, sharing 800 min family fair & flexible plan. 3 lines total.
Each line’s contract is expiring shortly. One contract over on 12/9/06, another expiring on 1/7/07, last one on 2/1/07, so all are out of contract within 2.5 months.
2 phones are currently eligible for $150 upgrade/ 1 phone (I was told) only eligible for $75 upgrade + $50 credit due to the fact that sprint replaced my daughter’s phone when it broke (under warranty). Should not have had impact on rebate eligibility, but as I have read, sprint will try to screw with people that way. At least the $50 credit helps.
So here’s my plan details:
Sprint PCS Fair & Flexible Plan
Adjustable Anytime Minutes
$70 Minimum Monthly Charge for 800 min (Shared)
Nationwide Long Distance Included
Unlimited Night & Weekend Mins. Included (I can’t remember – I think it’s the old ‘after 9 PM’ plan)
Caller ID, Call Waiting
Three-way Calling
Phone #1
Total Equipment Protection: $6
Picture Mail: $5
VISION PICTURES PACK: $10
Phone #2
Total Equipment Protection: $6
Sprint PCS VisionSM Pictures Pack $5
Phone #3
Add a phone: $10
NVP discount is 27% off total
Monthly bill is currently between $95-$120
So my questions are:
1) Is it worthwhile for me to go for the SERO plan and if so, can I then split up the family plan into 3 separate lines, each on SERO (1 - 500 min and 2 - 1200 min SERO plans), and each with my NVP discount? Is this scenario possible?
2) Or should I just get the 1400 anytime minutes for $90 and try to bargain with cust care or ecare for perks and loyalty discounts?
3) I need at least 2 new phones as I am also eligible for full upgrades on 2 lines, partial rebate on 1 line. And I want a big discount on them. I want either the TREO wx or sprint 6700, not sure which I want yet. REALLY CHEAP. My daughter wants a decent music phone as she’s been clamoring for an ipod lately, and I think it’s crazy for her to have a new phone and an ipod when I can combine the two into one. Maybe a free or under $50 Fusic (have heard conflicting reviews, but maybe she will like it) or something similarly cool. She is a teenager, so she wants a cool phone.
4) I want some perks too. I’d like to have some SMS messaging on each phone. At least 100 – 300 if not free then cheap. And free Roaming is a must for all phones because my house in in a dead zone and their coverage map shows no coverage there. I get a signal there intermittently and usually have to be by a window.
5) I don’t understand the Vision, Power Vision, Picture Packs, Vision Picture Pack Plus options. I have looked on the website and have trouble understanding the differences – I have not seen a really good explanation of them and have no clue what goes with what phone and prices of these options. Is there any good link anyone can provide with all these options explained and prices? I will need this Vision of some sort for at least 2 phones, maybe 3. If I get a TREO or 6700 I will be using web and web email, taking/sending some pics and possibly emailing a little bit. I don’t know if that’s insanely expensive or what kind of vision plan this requires, but I'll need some kind of discounted vision.
6) I may decide to activate another line to get a better deal on a phone for my daughter – she’s not too stuck on her number yet. Can I add a new line and cancel her old one if her contract has expired? Or does activating a new line automatically renew all the lines on the account even if they expired?
7) If I decide to do SERO, am I better off getting all the perks I can first from Retention, and extending the contract, then calling up later and asking for SERO? Or will I get a better deal on the phones through the SERO plan?
Some of you are thinking I want too much, but I read so many posts about these FANATASTIC discounts, plans and perks people are getting, and I want in on the action too!
Sorry for the long post, I’m very confused (as you can see) and I want to do this right for maximum effect! Planning to do this within the week, so I appreciate helpful replies! Thanks!!!
