What's up SU!! I have a question. I just ordered the wonderful Sanyo M1 on one of my phone #'s so I could get the $150 off, but I plan on using it on my other #. Any thoughts on me having a problem?

You'll have to wait 30 days to do the ESN swap, or you'll get charged for the 150 discount you just recieved. Beyond that, you're good.

Can't I just activate the phone under the line I want, instead of the line I ordered it under?

Is there any way around it? Like not activating the phone for a month? Or anything?

That brings up a question myself...

I ordered the m610 and paid full price. I was going to switch my A900 number over to that one when it arrives. I also ordered the M1 and chose a family plan, that will be combined with the m610. What would I have to do to avoid issues?

Swap the m610 & A900 when it arrives, then combine that with the M1 when it arrives?

Confused????

wait, you ordered it but it's not assigned to an account yet?

now this is more the scenario I was talking about. If the phone is coming already assigned to a number (IE new line activation) then you're stuck with that number on that phone for 30 days. I think the OP might be ok to assign it where he pleases if it's unassigned, but again, if the ESN if assigned, you're kinda stuck

Yeah, I'm not worried about swappng the second line (M1) with the first, I'll take whatever number that is. I just want to swap the unassigned m610 with my current account line A900. Shouldn't have any problems should I? That swap will happen first, then once the M1 arrives, which was bought as a second line, I will combine it with the then swapped out m610.

That will cause no problems, since the phone was full price with no rebates involved.

What if I activate it with line b and ESN swap line A and B?

When I ordered the phone, I told the CSR what I wanted to do and she said all I would have to do is call back to do the ESN swap.

In your case, it may end up being ok since you got an instant rebate up front (I'm assuming). But, others have said in the past that Sprint could come and charge that rebate amount back to your account if you fail to meet the terms of the rebate. One of those terms I believe is that the equipment will remain activated on the line for a minimum of 30 days. Would they catch it, who knows? But, IMO it might not be worth taking a chance.

actually...for what it's worth. I had a customer come and activate a new account with the KRZR and he went outside and esn swapped onto another account (ie what you are talking about basically)...Customer service new about it and did it for him. He told them what he was doing. He never got charged 150...but I would still do it at your own risk. Seems like a bad loop hole...I do know the person who set it up initially (ME) gets charged back for it which is stupid.

Makes me want to add a line and then swap/cancel... I'm just to loyal to my beloved sprint job and it's ethics...lol...plus I'd probably get griped out by my superiors.

The rebate was up front. I paid $213 after taxes. They said the phone would not be activated.

I would just call *2 and ask them about the situation when you get the phone and have them place notes on your account about what they told you. Then, if all else fails and you get screwed down the road, just call retentions and have them straighten it out.

Sprint needlessly complicates things like this - both for themselves and their customers. One big net negative to their bottom line IMHO.

They need to top the stupid tying of rebates to specific ESNs staying with certain phone numbers for conescutive months, etc. They should make rebate eligibilty ibdpendent of ESN assignements. Rather rebates should only be a product of how long it has been for each account/phone number. What you do with the phone after that and how many ESN swaps you do in the meantime - why should it matter?!?

Sprint is stuck in the stone ages in this respect, meanwhile the GSM world is eating their lunch due to this kind of complicated and customer unfriendly policy.
