I've got an MM-8300. I'm a musician and have some of my own music that I think would be cool as a ringtone on my phone. What is the best and cheapest ( free ) way to go about doing this without using a data cable. Please be vary spicific.

I suggest using WavePad (Google it. It's free for 30 days, and after that you can just uninstall and reinstall it to renew your 30 day period.) to trim your song and from there save it as either AAC or M4A. I have the MM-9000, and M4A works fine for me. You might need to use trial and error, though. If you need to convert to another filetype, you should download dBPowerAmp. It is an audio converter, and it really comes in handy.

Both of those are Windows-only applications. Do you know of any MP3 to ringtone converters for the Mac? (And what should I convert an MP3 to? I have a Sanyo SCP 2400.)

Easy. Get a windows. Haha just playin. I remember seeing some really good stuff on Download.com. As far as formats, most phones support AAC for ringtones, as well as m4a.
