I searched but didn't really find a thread like this one.
I haven't played with the 830w yet so I got to that, but just wondering how it stacks up against the 700wx. I compared spces and pda's are new to me so not sure which one has more memory but I know that the 830w processor is 500MHz and the 700wx is 312MHz. I didn't like the sliding keyboard on the 6700 but I don't think I would mind the 830w sliding keyboard to much since it's probably easier to push down. For the most part I don't really have any issues with the 700wx but wouldn't mind a bigger screen. I use my 700wx a lot and I don't have any problems making it a full day on a full charge but probably couldn't do that with the 830w. I probably would never use the 830w over seas so that feature doens't matter to me.

Don't do it.
I only say that based on your previous posts. I'm sure the 830 is a great device as long as it fits one's needs and preferences.

Here's a note I made about the size difference: http://www.sprintusers.com/forum/showpost.php?p=1221813&postcount=65
According to PhoneScoop, the 830w has more memory.
Yes, it is fast. (I haven't compared it to a 700wx, but...it zips through things)
It has a smooth "springy" slide......no effort to open or close. Oh and it has a keylock switch, as opposed to a key combination or menu option.
Also.....the IP-830w comes with a standard and extended battery. :)
If you have any other questions, just post away!

Mr FlootMatt ,
Have you compared this to a 6700 yet?

I have yet to compare it side by side, but I shall sometime! I only glanced at a 6700 recently, and haven't dug into it much.
The IP-830w lacks WiFi, but has International GSM capability instead. Has a SD I/O slot, so you could add a WiFi card. Keyboard orientation and size is different, of course; the 830's is similar to the Treo. Oh, and a keylock switch.
Just a few nice things that are on the 830 that I see:
VoiceSignal (Speaker-independent Voice Commands, just like my A900! WOO! That's something I wanted to make sure to have, when I went to a PDA phone.)
OBEX FTP (I'm not sure if the 6700 or others has this app, but it makes sending or retrieving files, via Bluetooth, very easy.)
Remote Control (I know others may have this, or it's available to buy, but it's included on this phone. I have set: my TV, Home Theater, DVD/VCR, and Home Theater. IR is at the top of the phone, and works well.)
OnDemand (No need to explain it, but...it's on here.)

For some reason I thought the 830w had a camera but it doesn't right? Even though the camera on the 700wx is not that great I don't think I can buy any phone without a camera. I would like the voice signal. There might be hack but one thing that kinda sucks about the 700wx is that when using a bluetooth headset you have to say the name of the person your calling into the phone instead of the headset. Sometimes if you say the name loud enough you don't have to have the phone real close for it to dial out on the bluetooth headset.

Well, OBEX BT is pretty standard in WM5 and you can use Resco Explorer to readily send files via BT to any device. Very easy in fact.
OnDemand is a simple .cab file that I posted here months ago, so any WM5 device can install it (though it's crapware since it relies on .NET CF 2). It's also stock with the 700wx.
The special Samsung software is in the process of being ripped since some members at ppcgeeks have the ROM, so that Remote program and others will probably soon by floating around for all WM5 devices ;-)
And yeah, no camera on the i830.
Honestly, unless anyone needs the "world phone" capabilities I can't see what real advantage the i830 has, unless you just like the format.

True True.
Oh, it also has a Launcher (but of course, that isn't very special) with different categories and applications (that you can edit).
So yeah, if you like the design.....processor speed.....world phone capabilites....or can get one at a good price, then why not. :) It's always good to try something in person, if you can. As for me, I hardly ever (but get lucky).

Yeah, I'd love a camera too.....but then again, I don't find myself actually sending many pics from the phone (A900 for instance). So, perhaps a regular digital cam is good for me, someday. :) And, I can still receive from other people.
I like the Speakerphone on here; loud (with the stereo speakers on back) and clear.....plus, you just press and hold the Talk Button to activate or deactivate it.

you know I was turning my nose up at the 830 for not having a camera but I don't use the camera in my phone now. and every phone I have had it has been the feature I have used the least. other than that pocket pc magazine gave the 830 a 10 / 10. I use my phone for playing games listening to music and watching movies. the 830 would be good for me I know. time to save up and put a lil money up for an 8gb sd card also

This is my first real Samsung phone purchase, being a Treo & Sanyo person, and depending on a person's needs and wants with a phone it's not bad at all.
In my experience so far:
The i830 definitely supports a 4gb SD card which is great for heavy multimedia storage along with any other files you need to store, transfer, work on....
So far it Plays my mp3s & midi saved on my Storage Card fine in Windows Media. iTunes access would be nice to play protected m4p files.
The sliding keyboard is nice, not as ergonomically easy & comfortable as the Palm Treo, but nice, sturdy and juice resistant. I Accidentally spilled some juice on mine but it did not soak through the keyboard to damage any inner components. This is a plus to me for a good durable phone. Haven't dropped it yet, but that super sized tail of an antenna makes it hard to slip away. Although it's about the same size as the Treo length wise when slider is closed and close to same width & depth when using the standard battery it does feel different in your hands, but not as slippery even though it has such a shiny pretty blue coat.
It has a great Speakerphone and also has a pretty fast UI. It has no camera but handles and renders pictures & movies very well on it's big screen.
As mentioned in a different thread, unfortunately the i830 is not yet supported by Mobitv so there's a little glitch with registerring this TV product for continued use after the trial runs out. I have tried and had to cancel. Otherwise Mobitv works & looks good on the phone but will not register for continued usage at this time.
I am still trying it out and discovering things about this Windows Mobile phone and will say this Pocket PC is not for everyone, but for someone who can really use it's many features plus needs the international access it's a good buy. Come June I will be personally testing out it's overseas capabilities. Otherwise if Palm had a CDMA/GSM Treo phone I would most likely have upgraded to that model.

Nope.
It only has 2 International GSM bands on it: GSM 900 and GSM 1800
The US uses: GSM 850 and GSM 1900
