Sorry. I know this has been answered before but upon searching, got WAY to many hits.

I have 4 phones in my plan, one is elegable for 2 year rebate (not mine).
Can,,,,, If I get a new phone from local store utilizing the one phone that is elegable for the two year rebate, and come home,,, maybe next day,,,, call Sprint do an ESN swap to MY phone?

If so, what would be the negatives? would my phone's, rebate contract be restarted? Would my line be extended two years? or any other type of negatives, or not really negatives, just what will happen (if i can happen)

Like i said, i am sure it is in here some place, but when i searched for "esn", "esn swap" i got allot of hits, so I am sorry for starting yet ANOTHER topic that has been discussed before.

Any help would much appriciated.... :wavey:

Yes you can do that. There's nothing illegal about it. You wouldn't even need to wait any length of time. If you upgrade the other line at a Sprint store, just tell them you wanna do an ESN swap with another line of your account.

Well I was thinking Best buy for the store. But...

I could go in and get a new phone on the 2 year upgrade price on line 4, come home,
call sprint, and swap my phone number to the new phone that i just got on line 4?
Now i have found here that by doing that it DOES NOT reset my rebate time line on my line? but for line 4 (since I used the rebate) the rebate status would be reset..

also by doing the esn swap my line would not be extended out two years because it was just an ESN swap. Right?

thanks

Yes, you're correct.

Your line:
-Contract would not be extended by any length of time
-Rebate status would not be reset (although some reps do it without mentioning it, so I would make sure to clarify with the rep who is doing the swap, that you're rebate status is remainging the same)

Line 4:
-Contract would be extended by 2 years
-Rebate status would be reset

It worked. The CS didnt even question it. I did verify that nothing on my line changed, but of course the line i used to get the phone was extended for 2 years and the rebate was reset. I expected that.....

Thanks again for the help/

FYI when this happens before the 30 days , you will sometimes get billed for the difference for the new phone. Its called flip flopping and I have taken many escalations for this issue. Policy is that you wait after 30 days reason being is that, some customers will do it within first day and then 2 days later with old phone on the new # and new phone on existing line, cancel out and they also get billed and then get mad about it. Just be careful apparently it was a new rep that you were dealing with.
