Has anyone downloaded the new Sprint Mobile Email application to your phone yet? I couldnt find it in the content catalog, maybe will be out later today.

In case you didnt know, its a mobile application that uses web to do email for yahoo, aol, aim, sprintpcs mail, pop and imap with PUSH email via text messaging all for free (unless you dont have a web package or sms package). Just waiting for that app to come out....

Sprint Mobile Email aka the Blackberry killer. It is available for download, I downloaded it around 5:00 am this morning. It is made by Seven the same company that manages bcpe and bcee. Allows up to three accounts active at one time with a tabbed structure to scroll between email accounts. Has presets for Yahoo, Aol, Aim, Windows Live, and Sprint. You can also configure you personal POP or IMAP account. The application supports email push and send you a notification via sms when the email arrives. It is available as a free download under applications, email for phones that support it. Basically if its not in your content catalog, its not available for your phone. I don't remember all the phones it supports but it will have full functionality for MIDP 2.0 phones including the Sam A900, 920, Sanyo 8400, 7500, and the LG Fusic. It will have limited functionality for MIDP 1.0.

I personally am a fan of the free gmail app. Only thing I dont like about it is the lack of "push"...so you have to manually check to see if you have new messages. Cool thing though is how fast it loads and the way it displays the inbox and messages. Very cool.

I will have to look into this Sprint app though and see how it compares

For those looking for the app, use this link http://bcee.sprintpcs.com/downloads/sd_midp_samsung_a940/SPRINTJ2ME.jad

It installed on my Razor without any problems. Tricked it into thinking it was a Sammy 940.

Question for the group: I was able to get my Yahoo email addresses to work but was not able to get my Sprint or work email to work. I figured the Sprint email would be rather easy but no. It asked for my user id & password. I assume that this is only asking for my user name and not username@sprint.com. I also assume it is the same password I use to sign on to my account, since there seems to be no real logon to check my email.

Thanks for any assistance.

Enter in a fake email address and then it will ask you to configure it. Choose your provider and your all set. BCEE is using the same app.

It would be nice to know for the people who have gotten this email application which phone you are using. I am using a RAZR and, so far, I do not see it as a possible download. I am sure that it will work. Sprint is just slow to update the list of phones that a particular app is compatible with.

We know that. We're looking for someone to post the jad/jar files of the app so we can test it on other phones to see if it works. Seeing as Sprint is slow to update their content manager on phone compatability.

I'm not sure about the yahoo using pop thing. my out look on it was that it's unknown information. if i upgraded to the yahoo plus account, then they'd have to reveal this information to me, so that i could pop forward my email...to another account. that's the way i'm viewing it although i could b wrong.

the above link to the sprint mobile email program...you have to download to your computer first, extract the .zip file, then use the funformobile uploader to upload the jar and jad file.

It's a J2ME app. Why would you need it for the 700p? You get Versamail free. If you want PUSH, you can get Chatter and use it with an IMAP account. You could run it on a Treo with the IBM javasphere emulator but it probably wouldn't work right.

Works great on my RAZR, the only issue is when the push message gets sent to my phone it is a little tiny box in the upper left corner of the screen, prompting me to open the application. No text message or anything. And everything else on the phone is completely unresponsive until you either say "Run" or "Close"

Well, some of the uploaders are having issues with sending out the text-message notifications, so that might be the problem you're experiencing.

Steps to get Sprint Mobile Email on your 9000:

1. Download the zip file from this thread, save it somewhere you can easily access it.
2. Unzip the two files inside the .ZIP file, and save 'em where you can get to them easily.
3. (Optional) Edit the .JAD file to remove the time-limit on this app. Last line, starts with "Content-Run-Until:". Remove the entire line.
4. Go on over to the RP site to use their uploader. (If you don't know about this site, PM me on this forum.)
5. Scroll all the way to the bottom of the page for the JAD/JAR uploader.
6. Put in your phone number, and browse for the JAD/JAR combination, and hit Upload!
7. At this point you will probably see "Unknown Error Occurred!!". It's okay. Copy the URL the uploader provided to the clipboard and go to the next step.
8. Come back to SprintUsers, and use their text-messaging app. (http://sprintusers.com/textmessage/)
9. Put in your phone number, email, and paste the URL from step 7 into the message body box. Send yourself the message.
10. On your phone, view the message, and highlight the URL, and press Go.
11. Enjoy your newly installed Sprint Mobile Email app on the Sanyo 9000!

These are the EXACT steps I followed to get the app on my phone. It worked for me, it should work for you too!

I just downloaded it for my 8400.. I put in my phone number and now it shows AOL and AIM and Yahoo and it says Windows something.. I have Yahoo and Excite and then my main home e-mail. I don't use my Sprint e-mail.. What is the Windows Live Setup is that where you put in you regular pop3 e-mail or is that for the push of the text message to tell you that you have an e-mail. And for outgoing and incoming smtp servers do I put the ones in my regular e-mail cause it has insightbb.com already filled in and on my regular e-mail it's mail.insightbb.com something like that. And I don't know whether to check use SSL or use SMTP authentication.. Mine says mail server is not responding try again later.. The application doesn't use text messages, regardless of what it says when you're setting up your push settings. You know when you finish downloading a game and it asks you to Run or Shop? That's the exact window that comes up, except it asks if you want to start the Email app or Cancel, as some others have said. There is no text, which disappoints me because that means there is no sound to let you know you have a new message. The backlight on my outer LCD just lights up momentarily, and that's how I know there's a new email.

I only have this setup with my Gmail account, as that's what I was using to test it. Push comes through a little slow--almost 5 minutes. I'm also getting more than one notification that I have a new email. I can start the application, read the email, close the application. And 2 minutes later I'll get another notification that I have a new email, when I really don't. Seems it's just notifying me again.

I am pleased with Sprint's influx of free applications though... And when they first released their RSS reader, it barely worked with custom feeds. Now it works almost flawlessly. So hopefully any hiccups with this email app will be handled as well.

edog
12-01-2006, 07:16 AM
Laursifer- that is exactly what my a900 is doing with the Yahoo mail setup. It flashes "on" the outer LCD, but no other notification. Then when you launch the app to read the email, it vibrates the phone.

This would be awesome if the phone would vibrate as soon as the email was recognized or pushed. Or if a text was sent.

PrimeSuspeckt
12-01-2006, 07:26 AM
Not sure how many of you may know this, but yahoo gives you the option to be alerted by text in the preferences/options (one of the two) when you access your inbox from the computer.

edog
12-01-2006, 07:46 AM
That's a handy feature PrimeSuspeckt! I checked it out and I guess I'm being too picky. The Yahoo thing will send you a txt for every email received based on a filter (this filter also has to send the email in question to a folder). If you send it to your Inbox, you'll get a bunch of unwanted emails (and txts) because it overrides the other filters that filter things OUT.

It would be nice if Yahoo allowed you to set up a filter to receive a txt when mail is received from people in your address book only.

Or, if the Sprint Mobile Email app would "buzz" or vibrate the phone when new messages were received.

Didn't take long for me to stop using this... It really doesn't work well with Gmail, which is the only email account I don't host on my own. Much easier to use the Gmail app, if you're a Gmail user--the PUSH settings on Sprint Mobile Email really don't work well. I think it's even notifying me when messages go into my Spam folder, which is really annoying. And that was just about the only feature that made it worth using over Gmail--it's still a really nice looking app though. Gmail is also partially to blame, because of their whacky POP settings you have to choose from.

Again though, it just came out, so they may fix these issues--those that I've experienced and those others have experienced. It's at least a step in the right direction, this app :)

I have an address but if my friends are on there computer and need to send me a message they send it to my xxx-xxx-xxxx@messaging.sprintpcs.com so I get it right on my phone and don't have to go to the web to retreive it but that way they can only type so much. But with my insight it didn't work and as little as I read my mail on my cell I may just delete the program. Rose

I would think Sprint will update the software soon. Their is an update option under "Settings", so Sprint left the door open for updates. I just think it is cool because Verizon charges like ten dollars a month for this feature and we get it for free.

I have my Yahoo, hotmail, and Sprintmail set up through this program on my Katana. Works like a champ! I haven't used the push mail though. I just got it setup so when I travel, I'll be able to check my accounts.

Don't worry, someone will get it off their phone then post it on a web site for all to download. Were not allowed to mention the web site here, but if you need it, PM me for the info.

I would have to agree with laursifer that the software needs some work. The push doesn't work as advertised. It's nice to get my POP mail through my phone but I would really like real-time notification. They could do it the ESPN phone with sports scores and info, why not this application?

It's a step closer to what I would like though not quite. I'm still waiting for Sprint to get the smartphone/PDA act together.

Yes, the program was already posted in this thread, though I'm not sure what phone it was pulled off of and how well it will work with other phones. I can always post a 176x220 and 240x320 version again. Since it's free from Sprint, I have no issues with posting it here (until instructed otherwise).

I say give it a few weeks, and hopefully the issues will be fixed. Took them a couple weeks to fix their RSS reader, so we'll see.

I had the same issues with Gmail and my 8400. I have deleted the app and installed gmail's. I also have all of my emails forwarded to text as a "push". Works very well. I also send myself emails through SMS all the time. I have set filters so that these notes go directly to archive and skip the inbox.

Question for you... Do you have Gmail set to Enable POP for All Mail or Enable POP only for mail that arrives from now on? I pretty much found that both settings sucked, at least while using Push (which, for me, is the only advantage over the much-better-looking Gmail app). Enabling it for All Mail didn't really work at all--My Inbox would show mail from over a year ago and that was it.

I'm going to download it again in a week, see if they fixed the Push thing. I was hoping since they sent out their texts letting us know it was available, that maybe they fixed it. I was wrong, but hey, a girl can dream.

I want push!

I just downloaded this app and it seems to be hit or miss on my phone...I use the LG 550 and it is officially supported as I downloaded from my content manager...when I set up my internet pop account through this app sometimes it works OK, and other times I get connection errors...I also get ghost notifications when there are no messages, as others have mentioned...and lastly, although I can receive, I've never been able to send successfully...I have emailviewer from reqwireless functioning fine on my phone with the same internet account, so the account is not the issue...please let me know if you have any suggestions or updates... thx

I'm using this application on a 8400, specifically to read from my IMAP account (fastmail.fm). I've been using EmailViewer, but this is MUCH nicer! I love the fact it downloads all the mail at once (as opposed to having to wait for each email to open).

Unfortunatly, I can't get my IMAP folders to work... I only see a list of 6 standard folder (none of my others) and they all appear to be empty. When I select send/recv, it takes me back to my inbox contents. I'm guessing their IMAP implementation needs some more work.

Push works nicely-- although I was already using text messages from fastmail to notify me of new mail which takes a few seconds. Push has taken 1-5 minutes.

Some people were mention the new mail alert: If you want an alert (tone) when you get mail, go to menu->settings->mail. Turn Mail Push on, and Mail Alert off. Mail Alert seems to be the vibrate when you get new mail and you're already using the app (not sure how useful this is).

Finally, when setting up my IMAP account, I couldn't find a place to enter my "from name", so all of my emails are delivered with just my email address. :(

I hope sprint/seven will continue to upgrade/enhance this app -- this is really great start for a free service.

Nice to see someone from Seven on this forum and interested in Sprint users
feedback. I did download the email app and it is working fine BUT I can
not find where to enter info for a POP account or two. Help would be appreciated.
When I was in the process of downloading the app there was provision for
entering POP info and when I entered one field the rest of the fields automatically
populated - which were incorrect for that POP account. I could find no way to
erase and enter the correct info for those fields so I had to abandon that process.
As mentioned above the app is loaded and working but I see no provision now
for adding the POP accounts. I will send this same query to feedback@seven.com

Sprint Mobile Mail on a Sanyo Katana is working with both Comcast and Yahoo. Yahoo was a snap to set up, Comcast "Receive" was no problem, but took several tries to get Comcast "Send" working. I am not using the push feature, but sending and receiving is working fine. The only real drawback I have come across is that the "body" for sending only seems to allow one line, and doesn't allow carriage returns. I also always get a "This application will expire on 10/01/2034" when starting up, which is a minor nuisance.

I think the GMail app is better overall, and would probably use it if you could set up multiple pop3 accounts in it, but Sprint Mobile Mail will work fine for receiving.

Hi spirintdragon,

Saw your post on the issues that you are having with Sprint Mobile Mail on a Sanyo Katana. Would like to trace them down, but am a little unsure of the scenario that you are using. It would help if I could ask a couple of questions:

1. It looks like you set up Yahoo for the list of Primary ISPs ( from the Yahoo icon ) and that you set up Comcast as "Other IMAP", is that correct?

2. Also from the Menu list at the bottom there is an "About" option that has the version that you are running. If you could state that as well it would help.

Thanks spirintdragon,
Greg, Sr. QA Engineer | SEVEN

Hi Greg, thanks for the post. Great that Seven is monitoring this thread.

1. Yes, Yahoo is set up from the list of Primary ISP's and Comcast is set up as "other pop". Both are working perfectly now, it just took a few tries in getting the Comcast smtp settings correct so that I could send messages.

2. The version is 6.7.3.405.

I wrote in my previous post that the body size when composing emails was only one row. But that's actually user ignorance and not a problem, after I actually used the software I found that the body field will automatically grow in size, wrapping text so that it will display more than one row.

The only problem is that the body field won't accept a carriage return, but I usually send very short emails from the phone anyway. There's still the 10/01/2034 expiration message that pops up whenever I start the program, but that's really no big deal.

Overall it's a great and very useful piece of software, thanks for the great work!!! (and thanks to Sprint for paying the bill to Seven and making it free!)

Any hints on how this thing handles mail on your mail server? I have two Comcast accounts that I'd like to check regularly (since Gmail's app doesn't support adding other POP accounts). Does this app delete messages from my mail server once it downloads them or does it leave them there? I prefer viewing my mail on the go when necessary, but like to leave the permanent deletion to when I'm on my laptop or desktop and can properly read the email first. When I got this app I had my email up at work and noticed a message on my phone that was not showing on my inbox on my computer, which leads me to believe the app is deleting mail from the server. Is this true and, if so, where is a setting that I can change to make it leave my mail on the server and only download a copy?

sprintdragon
01-12-2007, 06:02 PM
BrentD, on my Katana it doesn't automatically delete messages from the email server, and will only delete them if I delete it on the phone. I haven't had a problem with any other messages that have been downloaded to my phone, they have all remained on my mail server and I have been able to download them using Outlook.

If the emails aren't showing up in Outlook or another email software on your computer, one guess might be that the email software is downloading only unread messages, and any messages that have been read on your phone are still on the Comcast mail server.

Some comments from a Fusic owner to the developers at Seven Software...

1) There are ghost notifications still going on...I'll get a prompt to check for messages when there are none in the in-box...
2) Is there a way to change the outgoing sig and email? As of last time I called customer service they said they might work on a fix...for instance, I forward a school account to my sprint account, but my "from" and "reply to" address are both my school address...I forward to Sprint so that I can check easily from my phone when on the go, but I don't want people to see the sprint address...to the extent you could implement this, it would be great, especially for those people using this app for business purposes
3) Can you implement a setting which asks users during set up whether they want to pull copies of messages, or the originals...or conversely, is there a way to prompt the user to delete "read" messages on the original server, and not just on the phone? I use reqwireless' email program and it gives you the choice and ability to delete the original message remotely...
4) I think this push email program is a great concept and certainly applaud the efforts put into the development thus far...to the extent you could implement any of the above, I think it would be nearly perfect...

thanks

When I was testing this app, the notification didn't make any sound. Since it doesn't come through as a text, I don't know that it's even possible to get it to make a sound. I never tried it on anything other than my A900, but I would assume it works the same for all phones. I also haven't tried it since it came out, so if they've made any improvements I wouldn't know about it. Just chuckin in the ol' 2 cents.

Sounds like you might have experienced the same problem I am having. I can't seem to get my POP3 mail account to work properly. I can recieve mail, but sending is a problem.
I was told by a Sprint rep that they outgoing mail server HAD to be their mail server: smtp.sprintpcs.com. However, it also requires SMTP Authentication.

Any help you can provide?

Rose... Insightbb has special ports: Maybe this will help:

POP3 Server: mail.insightbb.com
Username: [your whole InsightBB Email address]
Password: [your InsightBB password]

SMTP Server: mail.insightbb.com
Username: [your whole InsightBB Email address]
Password: [your InsightBB password]

POP3 SETTINGS:
Use Port 995

SMTP SETTINGS:
Use Port 465

I was setting it up to try it for you, when, genius of genius, I realized I haven't charged my phone in a week, and it went dead... I'll have to wait til tomorrow to finish checking into it for you. (I'm not sure if this app allows different ports, it may not.)

I would like to delete this program as well. But I can't find the option. It works very sporadically on my m610.

The main prob. I have is when I get a message my phone just goes to a screen and asks if I want to launch the program. It doesn't notify me untill after I hit yes to launch program. Then it beeps and vibrates but if i don't have my phone sitting in front of me where i can see the outer led light up then I have no idea i need to launch the program.

Anyone else having problems with this app lately? A few days ago it starting asking for my cell phone number on startup -- then, I get Error S7110:Please try again.

I re-installed the app and get the same problem.. So, basically I'm stuck :(

Can anyone from Seven offer help? I loved this app and used it every day since it came out.

Thanks

Yes! A guy from Sprint just called me back yesterday with the solution:

1. Erase the application from your phone
2. Turn the phone off, then back on.
3. Go to the webbrowser, and delete your cookies (follow the menu to preferences). Then, from the browser's menu, select restart browser.
4. Download the mail application again (content, applications, get new, whats hot).
5. Run the application

This should get you back to the original setup screen -- you'll have to re-enter your mailbox information.

By the way, I'm not sure step 3 is necessary (why would the app's preferences be store in a browser cookie??), but that's what he told me!

Good luck.

I thought this might be useful for some of you:

1. Configure your Gmail to allow POP access (http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=13273&topic=1556)

2. Configure Gmail as "Other POP" account and use the server information from here: http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=13287

3. As your username, replace your username@gmail.com with recent:username@gmail.com (http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=47948&topic=1556)

The third piece is especially important, as otherwise you might see emails appearing and disappearing.

Sprint Mail is finally working with the Samsung M610. I loaded the app and set up some email accounts. No problems so far.

Does it alet you when emails come in?

I have a Samsung M610 which, according to Sprint Tech Support either does or does not work with Sprint Mobile Email. Personally, I am leaning towards does not. The application installs and reads email, but so far as I can tell neither the push nor notification work in any meaningful manner.

As I understand it, "push" technology is supposed to actually push a message to your phone. Email never come to my phone save through manually selecting Send/Rcv. That is cute functionality that I can take or leave.

More important is notification. I know that a notification occurs when email comes in, because a message comes up on my screen if the phone is open. I would expect a beep/vibrate to occur when the phone is closed, but it doesnt, and several sessions with tech support have not revealed why this is.

i work in the tech support department and i messed around till i got this to work on my phone... try to see if you can get anyone to bring up the email support tool and reset your password that way and you should get a text with the password you would have to enter when you are setting up your sprintpcs mail .....your user name is the going to be the actual @sprintpcs.com name which you can usually find in the phone info part of your your phone then enter the password that was texted to you and it should work email me if this works

Today I tried to run this app on my Samsung Upstage M620. Following a previous posts' installation instructions I got it to install correctly.

However, when you first run the app it asks for your phone number. This would be no problem on most phones but for the Upstage you have to flip the screens to the small one to type numbers.

However if you try to flip while this application is running it will shutdown the program.

Thus a catch-22.

Has anyone tried to get this to work on their Upstage?

I don't remember all the phones it supports but it will have full functionality for MIDP 2.0 phones including the Sam A900, 920, Sanyo 8400, 7500, and the LG Fusic. It will have limited functionality for MIDP 1.0.

How do you confirm the version of MIDP that your phone has? I have a 9000 and can't seem to set up more than one account. Great program BTW!

Hi, just wondering.... I am responding to your post on Sprintusers.com regarding the sprint mobile email. I have an Sanyo MM-9000 and followed the steps later in the forum post to get the zip file on to my phone even though it's for the Samsung A900 (or something)...but when I run the app on my phone it prompts me that an updated version from 6.7.3.408 to 6.7.4.485 is available to update my client...but when say yes...it brings me to the content manager which states that it's unavailable (I guess since it's not originally intended for my MM-9000). Can you provide the Jar and Jad for the latest version? Thanks so much.

I got 6.7.4.485 on my mm8400 a few weeks ago.. Very nice update. They've streamlined the push notification process -- now, when you're notified of new email, one button starts the app and takes you to your mail (which already seems to have the new email loaded).

HOWEVER.. starting a few days ago, it stopped notifying me of new mail. I've tried to turn Mail Push & Mail Alert off, then back on, but that didn't help. Is anyone else having this problem?

I guess I could delete and re-load the app, but it's such a pita to enter all my server info.

This was really annoying to get these to work. And I'm not 100% sure they will. They will definitely download, install and run (well, they should--all is well on my LX550 and M610). However, I'm curious if the push feature will work, as I had to delete a Push Registration line in the JAD files for Sprint Mobile Email in order to get that app to install. So go ahead and get them setup on your phones and let me know if push works at all. I'm thinking GMail should be A-OK.

Thanks so much for extracting these! I tried installing on a MOTOSLVR L7c and received an Error 910 at the end of the download using gtoal. Wouldn't even give me a Run screen. Tried using rumkin (with only the jar file) as well, that would run and immediately exit. Even tried the RP site with the same results.

Oddly enough, Sprint supports Sprint Mobile Email on the RZR and KRZR, according to this:
http://nextelonline.nextel.com/en/services/email/mail.shtml?id16=sprint_mobile_email
The SLVR is essentially the same phone (even uses the same firmware), but I guess it must be some sort of bastard child Sprint forgot about.

EDIT: I should add that 6.7.3 claims the SLVR is a "samsung a900", I'm not sure if the old midlet I download was for a different platform?

That sucks :/

For what it's worth, I've tested the push setting with my 'cracked' versions of the app and with the untouched versions from Sprint, and GMail push is not working on either.

KatanaMan

The Error 910 is definitely a problem with the .jad file though I can't seem to narrow down exactly what. I used the .jad from the previous version, edited the jar size and both version numbers and it was able to download without the Error 910.

Then it bombed out with some LCD error, no doubt a compatibility issue. I probably just need the jar and jad from a Motorola RZR or KRZR....

I could strip down the JAD enough to make it work probably, but you'll lose most of the functionality that makes the app, well, worth having.

*Edit: You can try removing the Midlet-Permissions line of code to see if that will work. Usually that's guaranteed to create an immediate issue & will kick back an error before download, but if another JAD is working with it, maybe removing that line will help. Can't hurt to try.

I've got a IC-902 handset running version 6.7.4.521 downloaded from Sprint's site.

The Push and Alert functions do not work - The handset doesn't alert/beep/vibe at all when a new email is received (alert), however when the flip is opened, the application will automatically launch and proceed to download the new mail. Sometimes I have to wait for a minute or more, depending on how many emails need to be downloaded.

This really defeats the purpose of having mobile email with push.... Does anyone have a different story with their IC-902?

Thanks!

I'm unable to install the Sprint Mobile Email application from Sprint on my A900M. I get an error that says Download Failed "This issue has been reported. Please try again later 911".

I tried installing it multiple ways but manually uploading the jad/jar files on uploaders, using QPST to manually install, and the Sprint Digital Lounge.

No luck at all.

Does anyone have any advice?

Also...I was able to install it using the applications that were posted in this topic, but PUSH (text alerts) does not seem to be working.

Thanks,

Is there an official spot where we can post feature requests for future releases of Sprint Mobile Email?

The app works great, a bit on the basic side.
The ability to disable alerts during certain hours would be key.

My phone wakes me up at 2:00am because of an email... I hate having to turn it down or shut off the phone at night, mostly because I forget most of the time.

If it's the same as SME for the treos, then to change the alert function, go to the preferences, and under the "Mail" section, there's an "Alert" subsection. You can change the notification options from there. To turn the push functionality on/off, go to the "Schedule" section of the preferences. There's a checkbox that you can select or deselect.

My wife just got this phone, and the email client is completely different than the Sprint Mobile Email on my SCP-8400. In fact, I'm not even sure the DLX's email client is "sprint mobile email" - it appears to be a native app (not a downloadable java app), and it looks quite nice! Has anyone else seen this email client? Is it just a newer version of SME?

BTW, on the email setup on the DLX, it asks for the name of the standard IMAP folders (saved mail, trash..), AND it asks for the IMAP path.. Unfortunately, the account I was setting up didn't have any additional folders, but I'm assuming the client would display them properly if it did.

I have it on my Katana DLX it's different fromthe Sprint mobile e-mail. Mine works with Yahoo and AIM. I can't get it to work with my regular home e-mail which is insight. But it's nice to have cause like I usually will send a text to my friends e-mail and she just replies and I get it as a text which is fine and easy. But today I had alot to type so I used my Yahoo and could type more characters. I am always out when I know my one friend is home at her pc so I send a text to her home e-mail and she just replies. But using this e-mail is easy and I can type more I like it. I wish my home regular e-mail would come to it though. Rose

I deleted Sprint Mobile Email from my Treo 700p because of several issues. I attempted to reinstall it to give it another try from Sprint's Web Site.

I was sent the text with a link to download directly to my Treo. However when I click it I get taken to the generic Applications Download page. I tried a week ago and today with the same result. I copied the link to the Blazer address window with the same result.

It would not surpize me if they stopped distibuting Mobile Mail. There were many problems I encountered before not the least of which is VERY inconsistent response. I tried both Hotmail, Gmail and Yahoo with Sprint Mobile Mail. I often had test emails take 1, 2 hours or even longer (once it was overnight) to come through. This was while my friend with a Blackberry/Yahoo mail settup was getting the same emails in about 10 secs.

There were other issues but unless they address the poor reliablity the service is pretty much useless. I wish they would solve their problems as I have a lot of need for a reliable/low volume/push email.

You know I had the same problem with my 755p and I emailed ecare. They got back to me and it was fixed. I downloaded it to my moms phone and she had the reset problems. It didn't even let her get into the app as soon as you launch it, it would reset. So I finally was able to delete it but haven't even bothered with it since. Its a shame sprint allow their customers something like 54.5 mil to download an app which clearly doesn't work on all phones like advertised ie. TREO 700 & 755p

Has anyone figured out if you can do a carridge return in the body of an email on a Katana? Maybe Seven could add a carridge return symbol to the symbols menu that would do it.

Good luck.

I have the IC902 phone... the software was working fine until as most people have stated, the error above comes up. I have been wanting to delete the software, but it tells me that I need to purge the downloaded attachemts that I have or else, I'll lose memory space... I don't want to lose any memory thanks to some old attachments that I can't even read anymore because the software will not open...

Any help???

Thanks.

Looks like Seven has released a new update of SME for Treo. This version is 6.7.4.1041. They did fix the problem with SME locking on to the main Email button after every startup. I now have SME as Option + Mail button which is what I want.

However, it still doesn’t look like Seven or Sprint has fixed the Push Email reliability. Notifications of new Emails can be within seconds, hours, or never.

I have felt for a while it is some kind of backend server problem. Probably a server hosted by Seven, Sprint or somebody else to handle the notification from Gmail for example and passes it on to the Sprint system which signals the phone to retrieve new messages. The server(s) is probably overloaded or poorly designed and drops the ball in the notification chain. Just my speculation...

Too bad. I like the design of the program otherwise.

I was wondering what is going on. I have a RUMOR and the email feature was working up until a week or so ago.

It's really pissing me off, because one of the reasons for my purchase of the rumor was to get my pop3 mail delivered to my phone.

i have been round and round and no solution so far.

I get the dreaded s7122 error.

Using a Treo 700P

It looks like the SME email push notifications are getting better for me. The Alerts seem to be more reliable now. Typically I will get a Push notification in 2 to 3 minutes while sometimes it is 5 to 10 minutes. On rare occasions it's an hour or so. While I would prefer most notifications within 1 to 2 minutes, it is still better than it was.

Also, with the latest update I downloaded, V 7.7.4.1348, the battery life is MUCH BETTER! All day with 15 emails, just a little talking, down only about 25%.

Does anyone know if there is a manual or instruction guide for the Sprint Mobile Email program? In particular, on the "Schedule" menu in Preferences, I am trying to understand the difference between:

* Push messages to my device

and

* Enable schedule connections

I am using the program to connect to Gmail, Hotmail, and Bellsouth. Thanks for the help.

"Push messages" will send the messages to your phone as soon as they're received.

"Schedule" will check the server for new messages on the schedule that you set.

I have the LG Rumor and it came with it on there already. Its awesome and saves a lot of time when you dont want to use the laptop or desktop. When did this come out though? I was looking for it for my last phone. The LG LX350...

Around the date of the first post in this thread (November 2006).

I think it might have actually come out in October... but we'll just go with Fall 2006 :)

This app is rather frustrating.

When I try to connect to my IMAP (ExchangeMyMail) I am told the login information supplied is wrong.

When I try to connect via POP3, the login works just fine, but it only downloads the 25 oldest messages!

Are there known IMAP incompatibilities with this app? And why would the POP mail download the oldest messages?

I'm not sure how much help this will actually be, but using the HTC Touch, I had Messaging running all of my e-mail accounts just fine -- although Comcast was a bit slow.

Anyway, like an idiot I installed Sprint Mobile E-Mail (Although, now I've read that it already exists on the ROM somewhere?) wanting to check out the hype about "push e-mail." I had no clue I would start receiving texts from Yahoo!.

I removed the application, then received the actual garbled/encoded text as an actual SMS (with the client installed it was invisible and never received in text messaging inbox) in my text inbox.

I reinstalled the client -- reset all data based on some other suggestions. Didn't work.

I reinstalled the client (again) -- deselected "push" feature, and reset all data again. Didn't work.

Called Sprint Technical Support and they initially tried to tell me it was Yahoo!'s problem since I subscribed with them. I explained that it was the Sprint Mobile E-Mail software that sent the "decision" to make that change -- as such, it is the responsibility of the Sprint Mobile E-Mail software and/or Sprint to reverse that "decision."

They blocked Yahoo! from sending me anymore texts.

Bu-bye!

P.S. Not to mention that this costs you EXTRA money without NOTIFYING you if you do not have a text plan -- which I do not.

If you want to uninstall Sprint Mobile Email, first you should delete all the email accounts you have set up.

This is because when you set up an email account, it sets up the Sprint servers (or SEVEN's servers, who wrote the program) to send the text messages that tell the application that a new mail message has come in. If you just delete the app from your phone, the servers don't know to stop sending the notification text messages.

You can fix it by re-installing the app, re-creating the email accounts, deleting the email accounts, and deleting the app. Maybe.

Sprint (or SEVEN) really should tell people to delete the email accounts before they delete the app, but I guess they assume nobody will ever want to delete their wonderful application.

This might not be the current version... I don't keep up with it. But you can give this a try. Since it's free from Sprint, shouldn't be a problem posting it here :p

Think I already have it posted somewhere else anyway, maybe even in this thread somewhere.

I can't, for the life of me, get Mobile Email to work on my Touch. I get a window "DMProcessConfigXME Error" setting up ANY email account. Then, it tells me to "Please re register the device" and then the S7110 error.."OK to Try again" . It's an endless loop.

I installed the Seven beta and it works fine, but I want to try Sprint's version becuse it have the Mobile Email Calendar feature.

It's good, but it bothers me that you can only setup a maximum of 3 Emails on the program. What about us that have 4 or 5 Emails?

i think its great but I cant believe theres no cut/copy/paste feature. Is there something Im missing? Im on a Palm Centro.

you can't copy while reading a message, but if you click the "reply" button, you're then able to copy the text from there.

Yes! A guy from Sprint just called me back yesterday with the solution:

1. Erase the application from your phone
2. Turn the phone off, then back on.
3. Go to the webbrowser, and delete your cookies (follow the menu to preferences). Then, from the browser's menu, select restart browser.
4. Download the mail application again (content,
