I was skeptical at first, since I have been using Opera Mini to get to the GMail site, but this app is definately better than that old method! Props to Google for releasing this much needed app, and a big  to jh101_7 for posting this!

It's great except the only way for me to see "All Mail" is to search. I can't bring up the "All Mail" view in the options.

Anyone know how? :(

Is there a way to check other POP mail accounts using this app (other than forwarding your email from your ISP to Gmail)?

yeah, i wish all the views were accessible. i use the all mail view a lot. oh well, it's a great app.

now, i just wish they'd get gmail to send me a sms when i get new email. i know i could forward to messaging.sprintpcs.com but that doesn't always work because when there is a large attachment sprint bounces it back then gmail stops forwarding everything for awhile because it thinks the address is invalid.

Wow, this is just AWESOME compared to opera mini.

The app is OK but too bad they won't let you use smaller fonts on a 176x220 display.

Even at the "small" setting, you can't fit more than 20 characters on a line. Opera Mini lets you put almost 40 characters on a line.

This does not work on my Samsung A900. It just hangs at the JavaPowered screen. I've let it sit there for 30 minutes and nothing happenes. It just hangs there.

I've uninstalled, reinstalled the app 3 times. I have 41MB space left on the phone.

Any ideas?

Yahoo does, and has for the past year but it's only for Symbian Phones.

It's called Yahoo Go! for Mobile, and here it is: http://go.connect.yahoo.com/go/mobile

Actually I did know that, I remember seeing it when it first came out. But...alas, I am not able to use this much like many of the other users here. So thats why I said I wish yahoo would come out with something like this Gmail app for yahoomail.

Yahoo does have a java email app, but you have to pay for it. Look in the sprint content under downloads.

There is a pop/smtp email client called MailMan. http://mmj2.pp.ru/java/indexEng.shtml
It was written (and keeps being updated) by a Russian guy, some of the stuff got translated funny in the English version (like announcing "Sended" upon successfully sending a message) but it works great and allows to use multiple accounts. I have 5 now, don't know if there is a limit really. But the coolest thing is that it allows attachments. There are many java mail clients out there, but that's the only one I know with this feature. It supports SSL connections so it can work with Gmail too.
I didn't check the Gmail's app yet so cannot compare performance really, but it is very usable. Doesn't look very polished in terms of interface, but feature-wise, it can't be beat.

i go to enter the username, and 3 characters into it, the screen clears and the letters disappear. Weird. Has anyone, unfortunate enough to also own an A940, got this app to work on it?

Thanks

nevermind, it was my g key
