I want to be able to see where my Peeps are at all times on their A900's... for free!

does that site even support american carriers? I registered and it looked like you had to have european carrier..... and if you can't use that particular site, is there anything similar for the US?

I don't know if that one supports U.S. users yet but it's an example of what I'm hoping to get...

I keep hearing that but mine has worked well with about every app I've tried during local hikes and to record way points when fishing immediatly off the California cost.
When I go commando I use my hand held Garmin, and when I drive I use a Thomas Guide at the start of the trip and at stop lights.
I think what everyone is expecting is something to use in the car... for that purpose just about every screen on any phone is way too small for it not to be dangerous while driving.

Sorry!?!?!?
I'm a marketing guy by nature so I'm used to attracting attention when ever I write.

What a horrible idea. I hope that never works over here, or anything like it ever works here.
For the closest thing to it, though, Sprint's Family Locater or whatever it's called is about as far as you'll get.

Laursifer,
Just think about it, it's only a matter of time...
Wouldn't you want to know and see what others can, only then could you be in total control of what is seen.
I've seen tags on high end clothing that are capable of tracking the buyer "To determine what other stores they are shopping in".

I think it could be fun to have something like this. As long as you could turn off your visibility to your friends in the client/application when you didn't want them seeing you.
I googled and came up with a few urls on the subject. Including an article from today on npr http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=6097216
And here's mologogo's link

Here's a weird link to games for cellphones that use gps. I had no idea there were so many. Don't think any will work on sprint though.

Actually, no. I prefer to be seen as little as possible, and I prefer to see most people as little as possible. I'm a private person, and I respect others' privacy. Even if this "technology" allowed the user to hide his or her location, there is always a way around things like that if someone has the brains and determination to figure it out. It's bad enough the government has the means to do things like this. Now we're throwing this capability into the hands of the common man? Horrible idea, in my oh-so-humble opinion. I have no desire to be in total control of anything other than my own life.
But, that's just me. To each his own. :)

For those of you interested in this kind of application, Scott posted a good link. Looks like a neat little program that integrates chat. Still not my cup of tea, but those of you who do like the idea, give that a look-see. Only for Nextel right now, but it will give you an idea of things we might see coming this way in the future.

I was with a friend last night who uses MOLOGOGO on his POS Nextel. I forgot all about this thread... So as an FYI, MOLOGOGO is crap. Really slow. He also said it will only update once a minute, minimum (you could, if you were crazy, actually tell it to update every 10 minutes).
