I have the Power Vision Pack for $10,free with the $10 credit. The music store doesnt thrill me too much, but I use On Demand alot. That cost an extra $5. So,I think that I will be sending ecare an email. Only thing is,I have PV free for 2 yrs with the credit. Will I lose that? All I want is the PV and On Demand. Lets see what ecare and *2 has to say.

if the service your accessing has an additional charge, it should be stated and have you agree to the charges or decline them. If you havent been asked to pay extra, it should be included

So if we have an existing PV Plus account it will be automatically upgraded to this new version? Or do we wait till after 10/28 and call or write in and ask? Or is this just for new PV accounts?

So a little clarification please, if possible. I've subscribed to PV Ultimate since early this year. After 10/28 am I going to be able to download 4 songs for free, or am I going to have to try through eCare to get that option added to the plan?

On Demand was on my 8400 and never asked me to accept a charge just to add my zipcode. I get the news, weather, movietimes and one other thing. I have a regular power vision plan. All I do is surf the web some . I don't watch TV or have that ultimate stuff. I did see where the Sirius Hits channel was free and tried it but I have Sirius in my car. The free download sounds nice. Its supposed to be working. There is an issue going on to why its not that is supposed to be cleared on 10/28. I'm sure if you contact customer service and tell them you thought it would be free since it is now part of your plan that they will credit it back to you.

I just wrote ecare and recieved powervision Ultmate for free! I called in to make sure and they said yes. When I go to the music store it says I have 4 free downloads!

Thank you for contacting Sprint together with Nextel. I will be happy to assist you regarding the Power Vision Ultimate Pack.

I am pleased to inform you that you can get the $25.00 Power Vision Ultimate Pack with the features mentioned.

The Power Vision Ultimate Pack includes Unlimited Picture Mail. You would still receive the $10.00 service credit you have been receiving against the charges of the Power Vision Pack added currently to your account.

Moreover I would like to mention here that you will receive the $25.00 Power Vision Ultimate Pack entirely free. To add it you can email us and we will be glad to assist you.

Thank you for emailing us. It was a pleasure assisting you and I look forward to more opportunities to serve you in future. Have a great day!

Yup, I saw that after I hung up. She wasn't the most informed rep re the matter I originally called in about so I was not too surprised she messed that up too.

So we won't need to call or write? It's supposed to be upgraded automatically?

Okay, so I just opened Sprint Music Store and all it says is "Buy 2 get 1 on us!" Should I wait until 10/28 and then expect that it should show that I have 4 free downloads?

That seems awfully generous of Sprint, and forgive me if I have a good dose of healthy skepticism about it being applied to existing PV plans. That seems more like something new they would offer to get more people to switch to Ultimate, rather than just flushing it down the drain by giving it away to all existing Ultimate users.

macpat
10-25-2006, 10:21 PM
It is not going to say "4 free downloads" when you first go into the music store. When you click on a song there is supposed to now be a purchase option, a download option, and a preview option. When you highlight the download option it will then tell you, that you have 4 free downloads. If you don't have the "download" option it should be there after 10/28 :fingers:

Out of curiousity I emailed ecare to find out what's going on with the new PV plans...

Dear xxx,

Thank you for contacting Sprint Together with Nextel. I will be happy to assist you regarding our new Vision Services.

In order to take advantage of our new Vision services you will need to remove your current Vision pack and add our new Vision pack effective on the first day of your billing cycle.

If you wish to this, I can future date the new service for the first day of your billing cycle and expire the old one for the end of your billing cycle in order not to incur additional partial charges.

Please be advised that our $20.00 Vision pack offers one free music download per month and our $25.00 Vision pack offers four free music downloads a month.

Please let me know if you would like to make this change.

Sprint Together with Nextel appreciates your business. Have a great day!

Yeah Shoshana, just as I expected.

There's no reason Sprint will be just adding for free 4 free downloads per month for existing Ultimate users, this most likely is an incentive to get new people to switch over to the service.

Ah well.

Dear Henry,

Thank you for contacting Sprint together with Nextel. I understand
your concern regarding Power Vision Pack. Do not worry, we are here to
help you in the best possible manner.

Yes, we are offering 1 free music downloads each month on Power Vision
Plus Pack and 4 free music downloads each month on Power Vision
Ultimate Pack. It will be available to you as well.

Power Vision Ultimate Pack for $25.00 offers the following services:

- Unlimited EV-DO (Power Vision) and Web Access;
- Unlimited Picture mail and Video mail;
- Sprint Music Ultimate( with 4 free music downloads each month);
- Sprint TV Ultimate;
- NFL Mobile

Further, on Power Vision Ultimate Pack also you will continue to
receive $10.00 credit each month.

If you wish to add this option, please write back to me. I will be
happy to add it for you.

If there is anything I can assist you with, please feel free to write
to us. We are here for you. Thank you for emailing us.

Thank you for contacting Sprint together with Nextel. I will be happy to assist
you regarding the music download.

I understand that you wish to get the one music download free with your Power
Vision Plus pack.

As you are valuable to us I have made the necessary changes on your account.
From now onwards the Power Vision Plus pack added on your phone line #
xxx-xxx-xxxx includes one music download for free.

You will continue to get $10.00 credit against this pack charges.

We value your loyalty and look forward to serving you for years to come. Thank
you.
Since this is my teenage son's phone, I'm sure he will enjoy this. I will wait till the 28th to try it out. And then my new month starts on the 1st so he can have 2 songs quickly. I just hope this works out.

I think I'll stick with my current plan for now - thank you.

Are the prices still the same? $20 for the first line and $10 for the second?

Thank you

OK so this confused me even more - I don't actually have a promotional PowerVision Plan - I pay $20 for primary, $10 for second line of PV+. (Minus the loyalty and MVP thing)

And she keeps talking about Vision - not Powervision. And where I expected to see Powervision Access, it says Vision Pack for $15. But Vision doesn't include tv does it? And PV Access never included Pic mail...

Oh well. the 28th will be here soon enough...

Oh and I wrote back and said "Don't change my plan".

OK... eCare last wrote me telling me I'd need to resign up with 'Vision' to get the new upgrades. So I told her no but how much will it be for lines one and two ... and got this

I received a mearly identical response from eCare, although I think the reason I received that type of respose, was because I was as thorough as I should've been in my original email. I replied and explained to her how I was currently receiving Power Vision for free as a part of my SERO 500 plan, and asked if i would be "required" to upgrade my Power Vision Pack. Here's what I included towards the end of my reply:

"If I would be required to switch to a new Power Vision Pack, like the Power Vision Ultimate Pack, in order to receive the 4 monthly downloads, I would be more than willing to do so, just so long as I would continue to not be charged for Power Vision as is the current situation with my SERO 500 plan."

I know some of you are gonna see this and think I nuts for even asking that, but hey, it's worth a shot. We'll ssee what she says. ;)

Alright, so here's the difinitive answer for SERO plan holders:

Dear Zach,

Sprint Together with Nextel thanks you for your reply. I apologize that I previously did not fully understand your previous email.

I verified your account and Service Plan. Every plan except the Sero plan is able to remove and re-add attachable services. I apologize because your service plan has Vision attached with your plan code which means it cannot be removed unless I completely remove your Service Plan and add another.

Once more, I apologize for the inconvenience.

Please let me know if you have anymore questions. I would be happy to assist you.

When are they going to fix this problem? The due date for it to be fixed has come and gone. I have a power vision ultimate plan and I still don't see anything when I go to the music store about 4 free downloads. It says it on the website and all. This is just a little disappointing is all.

Well, the given deadline for the supposed "fix" is today, the 28th. But as I've stated, and has somewhat been confirmed by a couple of eCare responses, I believe you're going to have to re-add the PV Ultimate plan, thus extending your contract.

anyways I asked about the free music and she also said it will be credited back at the end of the month.

well they messed up my plan again and now they told me it was back to normal. we will see what happens come the end of the month and the month after that.

as for the songs now though. they took my old ultimate pack off for 12.50 and added it the new one for 25 which i never told to do. just asked if it included the 4 songs. now this rep told me that my old plan does not include this but the new ones do but i would have to pay 25 for that.

im passing on that and just going to stay with what i have. which better be what i was originally promised b/c i purposely changed my plan to be locked in before the half off for shared lines disappeared.

I did the same thing, I bought 2 - Sanyo 8400 on September 30th to get locked in on the half off shared line. Will I found out I was put on the full price shared line. I called Sprint and was told the old plans do not exist any more and can not get you your half off.

I just called tech support and supposivly he changed a few things. Supposivly all the old codes should have migrated or something along those lines. But he said since it wasn't working that he changed a few things and to give it anywhere from 30-minutes to 2-hours to notice the changes. That was an hour and a half ago and I still don't see any changes. I'll see what happens by the end of the day. I'll also log into my account to see if it says anything different under "my plan". I have Very little faith in sprint resolving my issues. It's very rare for them to solve and actually fix any issues. I still have an open ticket that was created July 15th 2006. It's pretty pathetic.

I mean in the context of having no ability to get 4 free music downloads per month?

Apparently the PowerVision Plan for SERO is "binding", so I couldn't even opt out and re-join PowerVision for a contract extension if I wanted to.

That's what I meant by being Screwed, and I think you'd agree too when I describe the context in those terms.

Ok, so I have a SERO plan, and I emailed ecare asking about getting upgraded, and if it would be free/available to me as a SERO plan user. The answer I got leads me to believe that we CAN change our services on the SERO plan, but he also made it seem like I would have to pay for it (when it is a free service right now). Heres a copy:

"Thank you for contacting Sprint together with Nextel. I will be happy to assist you regarding your Power Vision Ultimate pack inquiry.

I have reviewed your account and learned that your current plan includes Power Vision. In order for our Power Vision Ultimate pack to be placed on your current plan you will need to add the Power Vision Ultimate pack to your line for an additional $25.00 per month, per line.

Our Power Vision Ultimate pack includes; Unlimited data/web access, Unlimited picture and video mail, Sprint TV ultimate, Sprint Music Ultimate (with 4 free downloads a month), and access to NFL mobile. If you would like to consider changing your plan and adding this feature, simply reply back and I will be glad to make that change for you.

Sprint appreciates your loyalty and values your business. Thank you for contacting Sprint together with Nextel. Have a great day. Please feel free to reply if you have any further questions or concerns regarding your account."

I don't nned picture mail or video mail so I guess I am ok with what I have. Eatching some TV would be nice when I am am somewhere with nothing to do..

What is NFL mobile just to get sports scores? It says only available on certain phones is it on the 8400? My dad may be switching to Sprint soon and he likes my phone said he can hear better on it then his Cingular and my ringers are louder.. Do they still give you 1 or 2 months free trial on Powervisioin when you get a new phone like they did with Vision? Thanks, Rose

No, it has not been independently verified yet. A few of us have communicated with reps, and they say that it applies, whereas a couple others say it's required to re-add the Power Vision pack. Until someone gets their bill, we won't know for sure; but I have a pretty good feeling that it's likely that you have to re-add the pack and extend your contract in order to obtain the free music credits.

Am I hearing correctly that under the new plans the shared lines are NOT at half the price of the primary lines for Power Vision plans?????

I signed up for Power Vision Plus at $20 for main phone and 2 additional phones at $10 each. These last few posts make me think that if I call up Sprint and ask them to make sure they update my Power Vision Plus plan to the new one where I get 1 free download a month and get Discovery Channel then they'll modify my account and start charging me an additional $20 a month.

And how about for the new folks signing up? Have they really changed it so that the additional lines are NOT at half the price of the primary? To me this just does not sound like something they'd do.

After I don't know how long, my music store and Sprint TV has updated. I can now get my free 4 downloads and the Discovery channel now shows up on my listing. And no, I did not have to extend my contract for 2 more years and to my knowledge tech support did not have to drop and re-add my Ultimate Vision as that was tried 2 weeks ago.
I think the reason it showed up today for you is because the rep re-added your Ultimate pack effective 11/1. That's what I was told when I had my Plus re-added. And, effective today, I have my free download.

My billing cycle does not start over on the 1st. He would have had to re-add it affective the 15th for that to happen.

As of October 1st add ons for shared lines are full price not half price.

that bites.

Wait a minute.
You mean November 1st, right?

I mean I got my plan a couple of weeks ago and they were doing 1/2 prices on all the plan add-ons for my shared lines. Not just in the store but when I called sprint.

If they have to change the cost of the power vision plus on my shared lines from 10 to 20 just to get 1 stinking free song a month and discovery channel I ain't going to mention it because it's not worth it. the hell with that nonsense.

Not true, my discovery channel is now indeed a live channel. On my 8400 with PV Ultimate one Dicovery short entitled "Physics of Baseball" is in Sprint TV>Sprint TV Ultimate>Entertainment. Additionally there is a Discovery folder in the same location with two more shorts entitled "The Italian Gondolla" and "Who Will Go to the USA". Each of the three are shorts on a spcified topic; not the live Discovery TV Channel. If you actually have the same channel that broadcasts on television, I'm baffled as to why we would have different content. Perhaps mine didn't get set up right initially.

Would any other Ultimate users confirm whether the Discovery content on their phones (#) contains the same channel that appears on television or just the shorts above?

I have a 7500 with Ultimate Powervision. I goto Sprint TV>Ultimate Folder>Entertainment Folder....There I have the option of the Discovery with the lil camera icon that leads me to the live channel and I also have the Folder option for Discovery that leads me to the short clips.

There is no Discovery Live channel in my Ultimate folder.

I guess us Plus users still don't get Discovery then...even after we switch over to the "new" Plus with the free download.

I know I saw that Sprint had the Discovery Channel for Plus on their website. Now it has

The Music Store still isn't telling me I have 4 free downloads. Not a huge deal since my niece is the only one who uses the store, but it sure is taking a while. I called them today about it while I was waiting for my delicious burrito and the lady I spoke with said it should be there. So she opened a trouble ticket. We'll see.

Isn't it obvious that Sprint means this to be a tradeoff? If you have Power Vision Ultimate for $12.50/mo right now, you can re-add to get the 4 free songs per month but then you'll be paying $25/mo.

Sort of... the 4 free songs finally kicked in, btw, when I'm in the Music Store. Technically I am being charged full price, but they've added an additional discount to my account to sort of make up for the difference in a round-about way. This was more reparation for what I went through with my bricked LX-550 than anything else... at least that's what I used to get another discount to make the switch worth it. The first 2 reps I spoke with were willing to move me back to the "old" Ultimate package, but said I would not get 4 free songs. The 3rd rep took the time to read all of the notes on my account from the past 2 months of Hell, and thought I deserved more than a $25 service credit.

And I'm not getting free songs on each line. My A900 technically still doesn't have a PV plan 'cause I ESN-swapped on that line (main line), so that's still on an old, grandfathered plan.

I have been through 4 different emails with customer care, numerous cs calls and tech support calls , have added and taken away the power vision 2 different times and still it is a no go with the free downloads. Sprint has been no help whatsoever with all the reps basically telling me to go ahead and buy the songs and then fight for the credit on the backend but here is my thought on the matter. I got switched over to a "business" account due to the 10 percent discount for being a credit union member so I think it is that my "business" account is incompatible with the free download plans. (just my guess)
Has anyone actually gotten the free downloads? Or am I just wasting my time?
thanks,
Charlie

Having a business account has nothing to do with it...I have one too.

Go to the Sprint site and click on your plan details. Then click on the PowerVision package you have. It should say that you have 1 free download (Plus) or 4 free downloads (Ultimate). Then just go ahead and download your free song(s) onto your phone. At the end of your billing cycle, a credit in the amount of your free song(s) will appear on your bill. Simple and easy.

I sent this to eCare this afternoon and got an answer back this evening. It claims they reimburse one month in arrears, i.e., the month after the month you buy the songs

Thank you for contacting Sprint together with Nextel. I will be happy to discuss your billing inquiry with you.
The charges for ring tones are adjusted once the bill is printed. Your next statement will show the adjustments for ring tones as 'Vision - Premium Services' credits. Our system has already adjusted $5 that I can see, which will appear on your next statement. I apologize for any confusion this matter may have caused.

Thank you for your continued loyalty to Sprint.

from my email from ecare--Note: If you see a charge on the Buy page, then you will be charged for that purchase (It's not a back-end refund).
I have been told so many things by sprint now that I have stopped listening. I am just putting four songs on and fighting for my credit when the bill comes because everyone at sprint seems to have a different story or says there is no such thing!!!! aaaarrrrgggghhh!

I also have a Business account, so to speak, due to a discount I get and I am now getting the 4 free downloads acknowledged if I hop in the store. To those of you who still don't have this showing up, my advice would be to use your free downloads this month if you absolutely feel the need to, and then write ecare to have the charges reversed if they show up on your bill. Once a new cycle starts for you, and those free downloads still aren't showing up, then I would begin battling with ecare and tech support directly. That's my advice :)

Are you saying that (a) you never asked Customer Care to do anything about this, and yet (b) the Music Store is now explicitly saying that you get 1 free download?

---
The pricing of the listed music will not change. When you download the music, you will be billed for it on your next invoice and then an applicable adjustment will appear on your bill for the free downloads that you have used. I apologize for any inconvenience.

Should I believe this, and download 4 songs? Or am I supposed to see a 4-free-songs notice in the Music Store itself?

(a) You have to call or email Customer Care and have your Powervision plan removed and added back again to get the free downloads. (b) yes, the Music Store is now explicitly saying that I get 1 free download. After I downloaded my free song, it's back to the normal charges for additional songs.

OK, this rules me out. This would change my additional lines from half price to full price; and on my main line, it would probably remove the $10/mo credit for Power Vision Ultimate that I got as a retention deal.

I really wish that Customer Care Email weren't so deceitfully clueless, though.

Ignore those casual 3G events... For now. They show up a lot, but mean nothing. I think it's more of a way for Sprint to track things on their end than anything else. That's just my guess though.
