I have been missing occasional text messages for the pass couple weeks. As in not receiving them at all, not even a day or 2 later.

Furthermore, every once in a while, I will receive incomplete text messages. The message will cut off, but not at the 160 char limit. Sometimes as little as a couple words into the text message. Even telling the person to resend the message doesnt help... it will still be cut off.

I have a samsung a900 (upgrading to a a900m very soon)
The person whose texts i am seeing this happen with is on another carrier (verizon i think)

I have read about how whole messages can get lost due to too much activity (still dont think that should happen, but anyhow...) but what about the partial text messages I am getting.

I tried clearing my inbox/sent folders but that didnt seem to help.

This happening to anyone else? Is it a network issue or a phone issue? etc

Any help would be great.
Thanks!

I've been experiencing the same issue since August. I've filed an FCC complaint, and am waiting on a response.

I don't have a problem with missing text messages, however I was getting truncated messages from one of my friends and we figured out the problem.

Whenever she would send me a text message with an "@" symbol, the message would be truncated. For example, if she sends me a message that says "I'm @ my house", all I will receive is "I'm".

You might want to look into this possibility.

Nah, let's get the Federal Government involved.

Will find out for sure later but looking through the truncated texts, "at" would fit as the next word so sounds like a winner. Thanks

as for the missing texts, ya it is a little rediculous. I would rather have it returned to sender or something then just vanish....

I am sure everyone wants to hear what comes of that.... if you need more people/help let me know.

I'm not getting my messages either. I didn't have that problem prior to getting my 700p last Tuesday. I don't think the change of equipment should be an issue. But sometimes, you just never know.

mine stopped working since around noon yesterday. i HATE calling cusomter service though; all they do is tell me to take my batter out and then try having me reset my phone with the MSL and then i have to put everything in again. i KNOW its not my phone thats the problem. the service!!!!!!

hmmmm.... maybe they already are. Maybe it's like the phone monitoring stuff. maybe all text messages are being routed through security sniffers first. mmmmm...

hard to feel good about paying for text messages when they go through slow if at all. To me text messages should zip out and to the other person fast like an instant messenger. :thought:

anyone know a direct way to get ahold of a tech? a direct number or something. I don't feel like wasting 45 mins with a customer service agent convincing them that taking my batter out will not fix the problem. i want to open a real ticket so the issue can be looked at from a service point of view

I've been having somewhat related problems with people who send texts to my phone via AOL Instant Messenger on their computers. If the message is longer than the 160 character limit, I'll only get the first part. As in, it will say "1/2" but "2/2" never arrives. This wasn't a problem on my 4920. Any idea why my Fusic would be rejecting the rest of the IMs? It's really frustrating.

I'm having the opposite problem.. lol. the phones on my account send the same texts multiple times, and one of the lines doesn't have UL texts, so I'm having to deal w/care every month to get them credited..

I didn't. I started having the issue in late August, and I filed in early October after having gone in circles with Sprint. I gave Sprint 4-5 weeks to announce a fix.

Having the same issues. Switched phones to the 700p and it worked fine for 4 days. On Sunday it felt weird I hadn't received a message in more than 6 hours and when I received a call and picked it up got about 10 messages. Called Sprint yesterday and created a trouble ticket. In the meantime have to call voicemail or *2 to receive messages.

here's a weird one. A text message coming in from a cellphone on Virgin Mobile shows up immediately on our Sprint PCS phone. But the reply sent to the Virgin Mobile phone never arrived. And what's very odd about this is that Virgin Mobile's calls are handled by the Sprint network, at least where I live anyways. (my daughters btw, so we know how immediate the problem was)

Never mind this one...got bad info from one of my daughters...it was simply that one side's messages took a bit longer, but they did get through. sorry. (wish I could've deleted that comment.)

Okay, so it's not my phone. I was going to take my brand new phone back to Sprint and tell them it's defective!

:bang:

I'm in So Cal too.

It doesn't even do that sometimes for me. It bugs me because there are some people that I talk to only via text messages. I don't want them to think I'm ignoring them.

It seems to be more of a regional thing, if you are having issues. I can text people no problem, including people on different carriers. Then again, I wasn't having any issues when people were reporting them back in August.

Just got off the phone with Sprint's Treo team and they told me that they are having issues with SMS and Treos. It's not my phone, it's an issue that they're dealing with right now. No ETA as to when it's gonna be fixed.

Come to think of it, Deval told me the same thing. I should have listened to him.

Once again, I'd say that it was limited and not an issue effecting everyone. I've been texting with my Treo to both Sprint and T-Mobile customers and have had zero issues. Definitely not saying there isn't an issue, just stating that it seems to be sporadic in its effect. Always go with the fact that you'll miss the ones you really wanted to get, and get the ones you didn't want.

 Yeah. It seems like it's a So Cal thing. A lot of my friends who have Sprint are complaining that they're not getting their text messages.

So what you are saying is that I can say there is finally a single benefit to being in Kansas City instead of SoCal? Oh it's a reach, but let me just have this one! :hee:

Hubby has nextel, I have sprint...OFTEN since I changed from nextel to sprint he doesn't receive my text messages or often receives them as late as a week later. My niece who has sprint sends me text messages I never receive or sometimes I will get them hours later. I get about 3 out of 10 text messages she sends me.

Down? In that you can't get to it, or that it doesn't work? I can get to it fine, so figured it meant that it wasn't working properly, but wanted to make sure.

Can you clear your browser cache and try again? I've tried it from different machines, sent a text message, which was delivered, with no problem. I know that we post a maintenance page during outages, which sometimes causes issues because of the browser caching that page. We try to ensure that there is a message stating that if you continue to see this page, to clear your browser cache and try again. Obviously it appears that this wasn't done for the messaging application.

I am seeing the same thing - trying to add a number to the accept list, every time (on three different PCs, four different browsers, 4 different internet connections) I get that error message when I try to SAVE changes to the preference. Note the "send message" page comes up fine, as does the page that shows my preferences and allows me to enter addition accept entries. It's just the Save page that fails.

This is the URL it's trying to post the saved change to:
http://messaging.sprintpcs.com/textmessaging/savesettings

LOL! I had just emailed customer support 10 minutes ago about this, and I just re-tried it after I posted this reply.... and it WORKED this time!
