Our Rep told us about this today and I had to try it out. Had a list of about 25 movies. Some actually pretty recent like Benchwarmers, and old classics like Ghostbusters. It is pretty much a movie rental on your phone. I paid I believe $3.99 or $4.99 to rent Spiderman-2 on my phone just to show customers today.
Pro:
Movies on the phone, Who wouldn't like this when you are bored in class or on a road trip, without a laptop or game system.
Cons:
Streaming video, this won't be a problem for most but since I am in a market that doesnt' have Power vision yet the frame rate was lacking. Glitchy would be a good way of putting it.
Movie rentals are for 24 hours, I heard some movies rent longer but the one I tried was 24 hours (Spiderman 2).
---------------------
I am very interested in seeing how this works out. Once we get power vision I bet it will be streamlined. I really wanna see what movie line they have in the near future, and see if they will extend the rental times.
Anyone else checked this out?

I am thinking once the deal goes through between Comcast and Sprint maybe they will extend it from 24 hrs to a longer time. Video On Demand on my Treo... That would be great! :headbang2

I rented Scarface, for $5.99, and it is a 7 day rental. I guess the rental times vary.

I'm curious where exactly this pay-per-view movie thing is? I'm on Power Plus and not Ultimate, so perhaps the pay-per-view option isn't available on my phone. I did see the MSpot movies, which seems to be the best movie option I've seen for $6.95 a month. Of course with MSpot you see what they show I think, and don't 'order' anything.

I just use orb.com to stream my own video to my phone - it's free, and if you have a pvr, you've got tons of content.

Sorry..late bloomer..where do I go to rent the movies? Does it work on a Treo 700p and/or Razr? I have both

personal video recorder - like a tivo - or a home theater pc (HTPC) - basically anything that lets you record tv to mpeg files that you can get to.

And only works with wm5 devices... or is this slingbox that only works with wm5. I know slingbox for sure, but not sure about orb. I have orb but have no clue how to use it, let alone get on it from my phone.. 700wx, or K1m

orb just streams to the device - works on my linux laptop, windows, windows mobile for sure, dunno about anything else - but if the device has a web browser and can play streaming mpeg, windows media, or realplayer streams it should work.

In your my content go to applications get new and search sprint movies. The program is free. The movies cost to rent and if you don't have vision you will get the standard .03 cents a kb. I am positive the Razr can, dunno about the Treo. You should try it out and let everyone know.

I was able to get access to MSpot but nothing pay per view. Can anyone confirm if this is something available to only the Ultimate package?

Orb streams fine to my Treo 700p. ALL media files on or attached to my pc - pictures, tv from cable, MP3's, documents even my web cam... I reduced power vision to the least expensive package for the EVDO... Orb does it all... and the best thing it's free!

I don't want to open a thread when it was already being discussed. I was keen to try this but needed more screen, anything more than $5 is too much and the shortest time to have a movie should be 2 days. When the Instinct is around maybe these ideas would come to light

Guess it doesn't work on the mogul.. that's really my only gripe with an otherwise good phone - no sprint tv.

I thought when it got the DOrA upgrade gps and tv were a part of it

orb.com is great i agree especially for my 5 hdd of pure movies and documents that i have. but for movies like in class or when i'm waiting in dr office or etc i just encode them to my phone from my own personal section. i think that $4-$8 is a bit much to rent a movie especially for 24hrs and nothing i can save to my memory card even if just for a license for 24 hrs. if it was a $1 like at these red box things that have spread like wild fire sure. 3-6 movies per week would do. since i watch that much on my phone. but for now i'm stuck like the rest of us using orb(real good) and just connect to my server.

They should make this like the Music Store, but with a twist rent with the option to buy like Blockbuster. Like the Music Store give the pc backup. They really do need to increase the time you have the movies, 2 days for new stuff and 7 for the rest. I will test it but not until there is a bigger screen, the Instinct is perfect but was hoping to have one that had ptt too. That's where my dream of the Pro 900 came from
