if you don't mind a getting a new line and canceling that one you could get the 6700 or 700wx (or p) free (After 100 rebate) from SprintNetwork on ebay.

I had the PPC6700 and it was ok but I just didnt know any better till I switched to the Treo 700wx. The 6700 was really slow for me. There was always something wrong with it. I had it exchanged 4 times before CS gave me a new 700wx. It was always going to sleep and then never waking up. I bought it in for the tech guys and they couldnt do anything so they just ordered me another one. That happened 3 times. The fourth time the phone wasnt working. I could call people but they couldnt hear me so they said they would exchange it for me again. I just couldnt keep getting my phone exchanged every three weeks and Sprint gave me a different phone.

I do not know much about the specs of both phones but I do know that I installed the same apps on both the 6700 and the 700wx and I was always running out of memory with the 6700 and had to go in and clean a lot of stuff up. With the 700wx I still have a lot of storage and memory.

I am just totally happy with my 700wx. I'm so thankful I dont have to reset it at least twice everyday, I'm so thankful I can see my screen in the sun, and I'm just overall really happy with the 700wx.

Ive been with sprint with 3 months so I dont know anything about retention. Sorry

8703e blackberry

only thing you'll run into with the blackberry is having to pay $40 bucks for a blackberry plan.

with th 700wx or the 6700 all you need is a $15 power vision plan.

My favorite by ranking:

1. HTC 6700: Great phone once tweaked to suit your needs. After a few hacks and removal of un-needed programs, this is a great phone to own. Since I use web a lot, the large screen is a winner for me.

2. Treo 700wx: Great PDA phone out of the box, lot's of memory and very fast. If you want a device that's well thought out and very easy to use, this is the one. Would be my number one except for the screen size.

3. Treo 700p: A must if you like palm OS. Very easy to use and has a great looking screen. I find myself still using my 700p just because of the form factor and beautiful screen. No multi-tasking with palm os makes it seem a little out dated.

Don't buy a 6700 because they all have the EVDO bug and have also been discontinued by Sprint. Your choices are the 700wx and the 700p. Each has advantages and disadvantages but you can't go wrong with either one.

read about it at pdaphonehome. You can't receive calls if your phone is transferring any data.

6700 here.

So what if the phone is a little bit slow at times, so what if they phone needs to be tweaked. The matter is that the 6700 is now a year old, yet I am more satistied with it now than I was when I first got it in the mail.

People keep missing the point with the 6700... At the end of the day it's a G'd@mned phone. A phone that it allows you watch tv, get the weather, connect to the internet, use a GPS, run TS sessions, open office docs, play games, listen to music, take pictures, listen to sirius and much more is just a bonus.

If the screen were a little bigger then this phone would replace my laptop.

There is no perfect smartphone.

The 6700 and any other slider phone is out of the question for me because of the limitations with respect to the type of case you can use. You're basically forced to use a holster rather than a case. That's a deal-breaker for me. It's also hard as hell to use one-handed.

The ideal formfactor is that of the Treo, so it gets my vote. I prefer the 700p over w/wx.

HOWEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you use BlueTooth you should be warned that it does not work properly on ANY 700 series Treo. You will get constant disconnects between the phone and your headset -- as in after almost every call you will have to reconnect. It's a major pain in the arse, and while every BT manufacturer will tell you there are problems operating with the 700's, Palm and Sprint (I can't comment on other providers) deny that any problem exists.

Go to the Treo forums and read up on this problem. We are all hoping for a firmware upgrade, like the 650 got after its release. But nobody knows if it will ever happen.

Yea thats the deal breaker for some... My brother could have waited two weeks for the wx but decided he'll use WiFi.. I dont think he regrets it.

im also lookin not to change my cell phone number is there any way that i can get the phone for a cheap price and not get a new number maybe by cancelling the treo line before the months over and just staying with the phone and just transfer it over to the original line or do i just go throught the retention dept.

I could be wrong but I think if you were to cancel the new line you would be charged full price for the phone. I just had pretty much the same problem though - I wanted the 700wx and wanted to keep my same phone number, but I'm not eligible for any rebates and won't be until early next year. So on Saturday I called them up and asked what they could offer me and I ended up getting the 700wx for $300. I should have it within a couple days!

I did the email deal with the new blackberry. It all depend on how your account is set up. You have to set up a new line of service. If you cancel the account at any time you will be changed the full price of the phone as you are on a contract for it for 2 years. What I did was get set up on a famaly share plan and then just add the current phone I have on to it for 10 bucks. Now you can switch the phone numbers on the phons but you have to wait 30 days before doing that. the deal dose work and its great. Me and about 5 of my friends all did this.

sounds good.........

I want to get a the wx, but keep my number and save some dough, with in the next two weeks

I already hae a family share plan, so I just add the treo, wait 30 days, and then what do I say to Sprint, exactly?

also I'll want to drop my 7400 from the plan and have the treo for my main phone, my son's phone stays untouched

I talk directly to my ebay seller. He is able to do everything on my account that I need and he is able to give you good deals.

Hi, I'm new here...1st post.

I would prefer to remain a Sprint customer, but their PPC phone choices leave me worried. I want to combine the function of my VM4500 and my iPAQ 5550 and would prefer to have a decent camera as well.

I understand the PPC-6800 is on the horizon, but there are no specs on it yet and Sprint continues to list the 6700 everywhere. I have not found confirmation of EOL.
What is the status of all this?

I have stayed away from PCPhones because memory has been very limited and even my iPAQ barely measures up so I keep some big SD cards...but they are sloooww.

I really need to make a decision in the immediate future for financial reasons and seek the best compromise. I don't like my wife's Treo 650 very much.

I lean towards the 6700 because of Wi-Fi, but people are SO polarized about it...you love it or hate it. THAT's what worries me the most. If *I* don't like it, or they come out with the 6800 shortly, am I doomed for 2 years???

Sorry about my verbosity.

You can change phones as often as u like within the two years. You just won't be eligible for any discounts on the phone. So if you end up with the 6700 or the 700wx, you're definitely not stuck with it. The 2 year contract is for the line/account, not the phone.

Several people have been very favorable to the Treo 700wx, so I'd give that a look.
