Hi All:

With very little to complain about with the 8400... I had to find something (grin). Anyone else notice that the phone is creaky? Creaky? Crikey! (LOL)

Seriously though - although it seems sturdy and well finished, the thing "creaks" quite a bit when you squeeze it / hold it - I figure it is the battery door on the back. Not a big thing by any means, until I start obsessing about it...

Are you finding that yours "creaks" here and there???

-TRANo....but alot of phones that use the battery door concept do that. So, here is what you can do....take a small piece of tape, fold it over, and put it between the battery and the battery door. ;)

Its the battery door. If you squeeze it hard enought it will. I just took a piece of foam and put it in there, fixed.

my 8400 doesn't squeak at all. it's quite solid, and the hinge makes less noise than the 9K

I noticed one of my 3 8400's sqeeked but I think I didn't have the battery door closed all the way. Try taking the battery cover off and put it back on or do what noname suggested.

Hi:

Thanks to all for the suggestions. I too was thinking a piece of foam would do the trick. I will give it a whirl. I am pretty sure I have the battery door on correctly.

FWIW - things I have noticed between the Fusic and the 8400...

Fusic - better built in browser for me - more legible pages more often - the rendering of some pages in the 8400 browser has fonts WAY too small for me - and changing the font setting does nothing at all. The sliding menus that open, for example, when you are on a call are brilliant - no need to hit the "options" softkey like on the 8400.

8400 - clear, side-by-side evidence of better reception - both with and without the 8400's antenna extended - not a huge difference, but still, a difference. Also, the missed alerts functionality in the 8400 seems better - on the Fusic it got flaky sometimes (would disappear even though it was not dismissed or acted upon)

Hey! Maybe I will get a Katana - love the form factor and really, if I want to see video, a tiny screeen ain't the way to go. MP3? Well, I have a 30gb iPod. Maybe I will go with "phone as a phone" - hey! What an idea! I can not begin to fathom the need for a million apps and ringtones on a phone (smile). I also have not seen a huge difference between page loading time between PV and vanilla vision. If I am doing serious web action... again, it ain't gonna be on a tiny screen...

Ramble mode off... (man, was I long-winded or what???)

(gasps for air) Oh...Oh please - stop with the rapier wit - I would type faster but I am doubled over laughing at your ever-so-clever comment. I think I already realized I was rambling when I poked fun at myself in my own post.

Considering you are a Steelers fan, I was starting to like you too. That feeling has passed (smile) Thanks.
