Welcome to Sprint Users! :wavey:
You might want to take the phone into a Sprint Store to get it tested and replaced. The phone should not loose service that easy.

One other thing I can add to this is, that clamshell, AKA Flip, phones that have an internal antenna will lose a little signal if you are holding them. I prefer external antenna seeing as I don't typically have the problem your having.

It sounds like there's some kind of short circuit going on when you press or touch the buttons if it is completely losing service like that. Take it in for repairs.

It does sound like it might be a defective handset. What I was stating above earlier was a general issue with clamshell phones that have an internal antenna.

Take it to the store. If you have insurance or are within your 30 day return period, the work done will be free as long as it's a manufacturer's defect. If you are outside your return period and do not have insurance, there will be a charge, probably $55 as long as it's not been wet or intentionally damaged.
