Hi,

I have A800 right now and I want to get a power vision phone. I dont want to lose my grandfathered vision and unlimted sms plan.

Is there any way that can be done?

In the past, I remember that if you bought a phone w/o a rebate it was possible to just do an ESN switch.....still possible.

Please let me know,

Thank You

I just upgraded from a Sanyo 8300 to a 700wx on monday and I didnt change a thing on my plan. When I called Sprint to activate it, the guy tried to convince me to start paying $20/month for Power Vision, and $15/month for unlimited texts, when I already get unlimited vision for free, and I pay $5/month for unlimited texts! The Power Vision thing I could somewhat understand, but not the text thing!

Anyways, so as of right now everything is working just FINE, but we shall see what happens when I get my next bill...

Ok, how did you guys do this? I really need help because I got turned down by one of the sprint stores in my area...

I want to upgrade to a Sanyo 8400, but I don't want to pay an extra $35 for what I already have. on my 8200 I've got unlimited vision (picture mail is included as it didn't even exist as a seperate option when I signed on) and unlimited text messaging.

They said if I didn't pay their crazy charges, I'd be charged for each kilobyte of data, and each text message both incoming and outgoing.

I don't really care about powervision as an upgrade. Yeah the speed would be nice, but I'm fine on regular vision. However I do want a new phone that has better signal quality and bluetooth. Oh yeah, I'm stuck on Sanyos, and love the 8k series.

Paying full price of the phone without rebates is fine as long as I don't have to give sprint an extra arm and leg to use it.

thanks

this has been done to death, you will have to change that plan or stick with regular vision not power vision. the deal with the 5 dollar sms package, is you can get it as long as the vision package you have remains on the account. when you take it off, the sms package goes with it, forcing you to do the plan change. if someone overrides it, it will be caught by the billing system when you do ANY change and force you again to decide what you wanna do. Stick with regular VISION phone (KATANA) not Power vision and you'll be COOL!

Not so...
I was told that I could keep my PV and my $5 unlim sms

you cannot buy an EVDO phone in store and have them assign it to an existing vision plan...there are a TON of threads on this topic so please search and then come back with followup questions once you get the low-down...store reps use the RMS system which will not allow an EVDO phone on an old plan...many phone reps (but not all) have access to P2K, a system that does allow a lot more code compatibility, and which many people have used to get new phones while keeping grandfathered vision and associated perks (like pics/vids/text)...

I'm sorry for not searching before posting. I was hoping to find some quick info since it appeared that somebody else was also asking question along the same lines. Thank you for your help, I will search for the rest of what I need to know.

On the flip side, it sounds like I may be able to actually pull off getting the phone I want and not getting screwed out of my current package.
