Thank you edge23. At least someone's being helpful and not merely sarcastic due to the overwhelming feeling of superiority as a result of being a "post whore".

I agree with this too for a few reasons...its nothing really offensive and I think I understand where he is coming from. Should build more of a rep in the community and be known more before stuff like that is soo easily shared....and a few other reasons...but you should't take offense to that really...

And..ill share 1 more... youve posted once..haven't helped or contributed much..but right away come on here asking for free stuff right off the bat..... just be sure to help out if you know an answer to a question another user has too!

So let me get this straight. For me to be helped here, I have to have enough posts under my belt to be considered not a noob. So therefore, I have to lurk, ask a bunch of senseless questions (not related to anything I might actually want or need), and after having undergone a period of almost fraternity-like initiation, only then might I be considered a "brother in arms" worthy of assistance? Give me a bleeping break. I thought the name of this forum was "Sprintusers". I am a Sprint user. Only after being taught/helped by another more experienced forum member, might I be in the position to help another. That is the usual cronology of things in any field of knowledge. Knowledge and experience are passed down by others who have been there before. Stop attempting to make this forum appear to be some kind of pseudo-Kung Fu/Yoda like situation where you have to pass silly, meaningless tests to prove your worth before you're allowed to sit at the table with the "Big Dogs". And last but not least, yes, I will share what I have when I have something to share. But that won't happen if you chase me away with your holier than thou approach. Where I come from, you welcome new visitors and guests with hospitality, not rites of passage.

free games/apps are earned. or atleast should be. ask any question related to any phone/service and no one will have an issue helping you. the fact that you came here to ask to free games... and free games only is the issue. I'm not saying "DONT SHARE WITH HIM!!!!" i just think you being the n00b you are should have to EARN.. yes EARN your way to free content. free content has NOTHING to do with SprintUsers.

'Give to get' has always been my motto when it comes to free games/apps. what gives me the right to say that? because i'm the one providing a lot of it.

I just hope you stick around SU for awhile and didnt just come for free games... thats pretty much all im really saying.

and where i come from.. new people dont overstep their boundaries as a sign of respect. thats like walking up to a stranger and asking him for $$. atleast introduce yourself ;)

Yeah buddy...what prime said pretty much sums it up!! We do welcome you...lurker or not...your post i think just kinda came off the wrong way...and your getting pretty defensive about it if you really believe nothings wrong with it.
Just settle down...as i said in my previous post...there is no offense or any hard feelings intended and i hope you do stick around these boards and become a part of the community...this is nothing to get super upset over.

So basically what you are saying is that new users should have to earn the earn the right to steal content? Because unless these "free" games/apps are freeware or open source, we are in fact talking about theft.

Do these "free content" BELONG to SU? Even if it is, do you have such policy? And somebody please tell me that it is only these few people who are basking in their false sense of superiority, trying to claim seniority (at a forum, of all places!!!). I thought I joined a Sprint Forum...Did I miss a sign of Theta Gamma Alpha somewhere?
This forum has helped me tremendously in many areas even before I joined (If you are wondering, I HAVE expressed my gratitude). Am I going to be bashed for "stealing" information for being a "n00b"?

rudamchu has articulated my thoughts down to the last letter. KatanaMan, you crack me up!!

The point of it is that if you want something from someone then you should be nice.
Why would I, or anyone, give you something for nothing?
At the very least, the OP could have searched a bit and found the answers.

i support autoprime's statements. we've been around. we have helped. we aren't postwhores.

you don't walk in the VFW calling people idiots, do you?
or do you walk up to you a manager at a store and start asking for free stuff?

it's not superiority. it's respect.

now had you come correctly instead of acting a noob and not searching for the other 9,934 threads about free apps for sanyo products, i wouldn't state my opinion.

obivously on this "magical forum" you come from, you are already claiming superiority saying it's better than SprintUsers

have a great day and welcome to SU :tu:

You guys are priceless...

Let me sum this up: If you are going to ask for links to pirated (stolen) content, then you need to either ask very nicely, or have a post count > 10000000.

Thanks for the laugh. Its been a rough week and I needed it.

nothing about post counts... but your first post on a forum shouldnt be asking where the free illegal downloads are... like i said.. atleast say hi.

and it aint stolen... its provided by myself and a few others that extract stuff from our phones. i'm well aware that ppl pass this stuff around and i dont think im in control of it even tho im providing it... its just a shame to see someone thats never posted before get all the goodies and most likely just run off.

a simple greeting would have been nice first. i fully understand that people want free warez. if he would have introduced himself.. and not have come off being a total schmuck after reading my response.. i would have been glad to help him with anything he needed. im a nice guy. i help above and beyond the normal person. id do a whole lot more than point someone to one website. you think RP is where its all at? think again.

How exactly is it not stolen? Just because "everybody does it" doesn't make it right. And don't think that I have never used warez in the past, because I certainly have as have most. Don't kid yourself though, it is definetly theft.

Firstly, the content does not belong to SU and SU has nothing to do with it. Because it is somewhere on that illegal line, we're not just going to come right out and tell you where to find it. And I, personally, also don't appreciate the people who come here only for the free goodies with zero interest in anything else. Half the time you never even get a thank you. Accusing some of the most helpful members of being post whores also doesn't make you look too great.

The people on this site (the coolest ones at least) have taken the time to learn how to do this so that we can share it. Spread the love, y'know. But we're not going to hand it out like candy. If you have a problem with the fact that we would like you to earn that respect from us, then so be it. I have no shame in expecting that from people, no matter how bent up over it you might get. If we advertised these things all over the place, and told first-timers where to go, suddenly too many careless people would know and these places could get shut down.

Show at least some interest in what this site is really about before milking people for free content.

The two best free apps for the Katana are Opera Mini, and Google maps.

To get Opera Mini, go to http://mini.opera.com/ with the phone.

To get Google maps, go to http://www.google.com/gmm with the phone.

There are also a whole bunch of free apps at http://www.midlet.org/. I havn't actually found any there that I use because most of the apps seem to be designed for smaller screens than the Katana, so the images are very small.

It's not really an app, but Gmail works very well on the Katana, using the built-in browser.

You can't be serious...

When you "purchase" a game or application, you do not actually own said app/game. What you are purchasing is the right to use it. You are not purchasing the right to download it from your phone so it can be freely disributed. So in your scenario, you are not technically stealing, but everyone who downloads the pirated app without paying for it is stealing, and you are commiting copyright infringement for distributing software that you do not have the right to give away.

All I've ever read from you is a plain desire to not help ANYONE out. So why are you here, exactly? To prove your superiority on teh internets? To prove that you are
the most l33t w4r3z pwning internet badass? To prove you're the queen of a bulletin board, "the person who spends the most time online wins!"???

Yeah, I don't post a lot and this particular account may be new, but why don't you read some of what I did post and see that I've actually SHARED knowledge instead of just hoarding it. Instead of posting some "gift" and then giving a demeaning "don't ask me how to use it (http://www.sprintusers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=113999)" to someone, maybe you can try being helpful for a change. (follow link to see example of yet another demeaning post by autoprime)

And in case you missed it, my original post was what they call sarcastic. It is ridiculous and quite sad to judge my worth on the basis of how many SU $ are next to my name. Not that anyone actually gave a crap and PM'd me, because you can rest easy they didn't. Point proved.

So now we're going to turn this thread into a "it's stealing, it's not stealing" tirade? I don't think so. You guys are acting like spoiled little kids who didn't get their way. It's gone off-topic for a good bit now. Thread closed.

When you learn to constructively discuss things, or when you learn that there is a much better way to speak your mind than to rattle off complete nonsense and call each other names, go ahead and make an attempt at a new thread. Or, you know, you could actually search this forum and that pretty little site called Google. It's always fun to take initiative and learn how to do things yourself.

SprintUsers.com was created in January 2002 as a resource for users of Sprint PCS products and services to learn about and share information. We have cll phone reviews, Cellular Accessories, Downloads, PDA reviews, Ringtones, all of the latest Sprint PCS news and information, an area where you can find help in creating a ring tone or custom image for you phone, and so much more. The most popular section is the message board where visitors can read and write messages, ask questions, and get advice about their cellular phone from other users.
