I just bought a new 9000 at Radio Shack the other day for $250. I wanted it because it has all the features I want (except smaller size) including use as a modem without having the PAM option on my account.

Does anyone know if you should be able to use the 8400 (disable NAI I guess) as a modem as easily without the PAM option?

It would be nice to have better battery, bluetooth and a smaller form-factor if I can still use it as a modem. So I have a few days to return the 9000 if I want to and try to get a 8400.

Thanks.

i don't have the MSL for the 84 so i'm not sure if NAI can be disabled or not. given the latest trend with sprint phones, there may not be a way either. i think the Fusic was that way. hopefully i'm wrong...

Anyone know yet? Can you disable NAI on the 8400?

I just saw in this http://www.sprintusers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=113902 thread that someone was able to use bluetooth to connect a Powerbook without PAM or any other special settings.
