I received a Katana from work and it came brand new in the mail today. I havent decided if I want to transfer my number from my 8300. Anyway I went to look threw the menu today and it says Katana LOCKED then when u press a button it says UNLOCK CODE. Why is there a code? Where do get the code to unlock it?

And you're SURE it wasnt activated? Have you called Sprint and gave them the ESN number to double verify if it infact has never been activated? Someone's messed with the phone before you recieved it and has locked it. It very well could of not been activated ever, but someone has messed with the phone previously, probably locked it and didnt know the code. I'd have Sprint send you another one just for piece of mind. Especially if you get the lock code correct, check the life timer and calles made, data transfer, etc to make sure.. Keep us posted!

The codes to try:
0000
xxxx (Last 4 of Phone #)
1234
xxxx (Last 4 of acct holder SSN)
6285
If those do not work, you can try the following (only works on some sprint phones):
##3282# and choose Advanced>View>Lock Code and it may tell you.
If all else fails, call customer service.

Well, that is just the sprint data service menu that most newer sprint phones have. Some of them, however, still allow access to this menu even while the phone is locked. This is a security flaw, and can allow a trained user to see the lock code even if the phone is locked. Just FYI, I can verify that it works on the Fusic, but not on the a900 or the a900M. I have not had a chance to check other sprint phones.
