I have a Sanyo 9000 and I am tempted to buy an 8400 or should I hold out for an M1?

The MM8400 up close is not all that IMO. I saw the phone a while ago, and played with it for about a minute. Lets hope the M1 is not the same.

I guess guess it comes down to how much money you want to spend on a phone and what features you want. If you want a 2mp camera then wait for the M1. I was bored with the Fusic so I got a 8400 and if I like the M1 I'll get that as well. I got issues. lol
It's funny how people are on this "toy phone" kick comparison. I guess there is always something to complain about "the phone is to heavy" "the phones is to light" "the plastic is not Samsung plastic"etc. If the phone looked like the phone below then I might agree that it felt like a "toy phone". The 8400 feels a lot more solid then the Fusic that's for sure.

Sorry, but the Bear Phone is way too innovative to have been made by Sanyo!

to me, the 8400 is a way to pass the time between the 9K and M1. Once the M1 drops the 8400 will too...right off my account!

Not sure if the price differecne between the 8400 and the M1 will be worth it but regardless I will always try a new phone out.

even a slight improvement over the 9K but at 2mp will be enough for me. the 8400 camera has done nothing but disappoint me. wasn't sanyo the manufacturer that didn't have bugs at one point?

I can't believe 8 freaking people voted on whether or not the phone exists. This phone EXISTS. It's on a poster in my store for our sanyo contest as one of the prizes. I think it's been well heeled in another thread that this phone is out there. Dear god, the majority of the people voted on something being a myth while the phone actually does exist. Those 8 people are like dyslexic republics since the republicans go after fake stuff that they claim exists. These folks voted something fake that's actually there. Please re-do this as I'd love to see a good poll on this. I was hoping for interesting and got ridiculously laughable instead :(

you know what amazes me is that ppl on this site actually blow money left and right on phones. first they buy the 8400 then there going to buy the m1 and "drop the 8400 off there account"....but then again i cant critisize them cuz they are the ones keeping sprint afloat.
the only high end phone ive had was the A900 and going back to a mid range phone 8400 its a great phone. if the m1 had an antenna stub id like it. im going to pass

I may well do that for you when I get a picture of it, LOL. I thought it had been well established and that anyone lurking the Sanyo forums knew it was coming. Being as that was the case, I was so interested to see if people were really hungry for this phone or not and I voted (the 3rd to vote "yes") and when I get the results it's nothing but "maybe's" and "well if the f'er exists". I was so let down.

thank you :headbang2
it's just that after enough phones even the new one isn't enough. i thought the 9k was the perfect phone but then i tried some bt phones. got hooked on bt, got an 84.
I know what it's like to love your new phone (toy) but inevitably it'll wear off, unfortunately for some of us it's much sooner than others. No offense to the 8400, it's a great phone.

If you can afford it and it makes you happy why not. No offense but I think some people that can't afford buying new phones every 5 months just make negative remarks about the new phones just to make themselvs feel happy. The 8400 was $279 which was a good price for it's features and it only cost me $40 after I sold my Fusic. You really can't go out to dinner these days and spend less the $30 bucks. I hope the M1 comes out within my 8400 30 day trial period but I have a few rebates coming so I might just the keep the 8400 as a backup phone if I like the M1.

if it is the 8400 agains the fusic then the 8400 will obviously win. Fusic is getting a sota update in th enext week. Anyone who has an 8400 i san idiot. This is a 9000 in disguise. If you look at the 2300 menu, this is almost th esame phone except for bluetooth whic is the most unreliable thing since george bush.

they are idiots because this is a new phone with nothing new. Dont blow your money on the 8400. If you want mp3 play, get the samsung 920. If you want camera, the 900 has the best by far. The 8400 is a combination of 8300 features (which we loved), sprinkled with 9000 (which was okay) and an addition of bt(which can be hacked by a 3rd grade kid. This phone looks like a ready link 2300. Come on. if you want to waste money , let r. krlly piss on it!!
Ok, so someone hacks my bluetooth and then what? They get the phone number to the pharmacy I use? My work schedule? The reminder that I need to get TP after work? Who gives a ****?

Well I have three phones on my Sprint account, two of which I will be ready to upgrade 1Q and 3Q 07. I won't even mention another phone I still have on another service that will also be ready for upgrade 1Q 07.
I'm defintiely holding out for the M1 to upgrade my primary phone and may still consider the 8400 to upgrade the 2300 I have.

again, i think that its the wording of the poll and its choices, it should be, get 84, dont get 84, or get m1, easy enough, but to the 2nd part of your post.... :werd: :good:
i still dont know how to vote, lol. cuz its confusing :indiff:
its an alternate choice question, but gives you yes or no possible answers. its like askin someone if they want red or blue, and the choice answers being either yes or no.

I ordered the 8400 online last week - unfortunately they sent me the blue instead of the black - so my gratification will be delayed until the black one arrives next week.
I do have a question though, I obviously am not a phone junkie as I have only had 2 cell phone total - an older non flip (can't recall brand) and my current Sanyo 8200 of which I have been pleased. [Recently the hinge on the RT side broke, thus my need for a new phone] I am used my upgrade to purchase the 8400 and was excited of it's release and patiently awaitied it.
Now I see posts about the M1 coming out in a month. Can you tell a simple lay person like me - what would possibly be the advantages of having waited for the M1 to come out instead of purchasing the 8400?
I use my cell phone for the basics and just that - as a cell phone. I do not go online, or care that it plays music, etc. I occasionally will receive or send a text message. I also use the camera on occasion. So for me, the features that are important are the ones that enhance the PHONE portion itself. What would I have gained by waiting for the M1? Is it only advantageous if you are into surfing the web, texting, pictures, etc? Will my 8400 suffice and bring me the same satisfaction the 8200 did for 2 years?
Also, does the 30 day return option hold true for online purchases and if so, if you got the $150 rebate and the additional $30 - would they reinstate that upon return if you wanted to switch to the M1?
Thanks in advance for you answers!

i'm in the same boat, and from my understanding... no , the rebate is a one time deal, and does not re-instate ...
... in that case, you would probably be better off selling it on fleabay or here in the classifieds for like 200$ and using that to purchase the M1 if u wanted to

I'm like you guys also. Cellphone "call" performance is of paramount importance and so far the 8400 has shown me great reception, clear earpiece, clear speaker and quality build. The only thing I'm not too terribly impressed with is the camera but I hardly if every use it. As a good reliable cellphone, you can't go wrong with it.

my opinion for anyone whos still debating:
the m1 is cool and im kinda tempted by it, but i got the 8400 - its cheaper and has the same basic features (like power vision, on demand, sprint music store, sprint tv, bluetooth and ready link )except of course the 2mp camera and the gig of internal memory, but ..you can pick up a 1g micro sd on ebay and do just as good. thats what ive done. and you can keep that card when you get your next phone and not have to transfer all of your stuff again ;) you may be sacrificing some on the camera and the screen but like i said for the price.. the 8400 works for me :)

Annette06,
Since you don't care about the music-playing abilities of the M1, just stay with your 8400 if you want. The 8400 feels solid and not like a toy-phone as some people have said. The 8400 is a really good phone in my opinion with a surprisingly good battery life.
The M1 is better for music-playing because it has better equalizers, a stereo speakerphone, can play music while surfing the web and can play as a stand alone music player for a really long time without using a lot of battery.
So just stay with your 8400 since you only use the camera as an extra feature and don't really care for mp3s, power vision, etc.
The 30 day return policy is good for online purchases.
The M1 looks very fancy though if you are into that sort of thing :)

Depending on what you want to do with it. They are kiind of on par (save the camera pixels) . But when you get down to it , the most memory you can have on an sd card is 2 gb. The m1 has no expansion and has 1gb built in max. You can buy a 2 gb card these days on e bay for $40. You are not limited on memory. M1 costs 79.99 more,, has a 2.0 mp camera and 8400 has 1.3 (not much difference to the untrained eye). The M1 looks like a fat 900 and the 8400 looks like a new 3100. Desingwise (including software) i like the M1 . The 8400 menus are bassackwards and look like a 2g phone. But on the other hand if you are looking for expandability, the 8400 (albeit with its outdated design) is the way to go. Design (M1), over expandability(8400).

best thing to do in 30 days if it is a new account is cancel the line and get the other phone. If you are trying out a phone (not sure if you will keep it with established account) buy from a store so they can exchange it. If you buy it online be sure to tell loved ones you will be in disposed for about an hour a day with telesales cause most of them cant send / dont know how to send a return kit worth crap. If you are still with the phone i agree. Sell it on ebay.
I'm thinking of picking up an 8400 for My birthday which I think I might like better for some reason. I prefered the 7500 over the 9000 after I received one from LL and had to go through heck to get it swapped out at the store. I love My M1 but would probably be using My 7500 if I still had it. Or maybe I just want another back-up phone. :)
