Ok, there is a lot of rambling,

How does the 8400 compare to the 9000. I just ordered mine, and I can't wait to use it.

They both have about the same features, the 8400 has bluetooth and more memory, and probably a few more tweaks, like an equalizer and themes, just have to wait til someone actually gets it. Hopefully an honest person gets it so we can get a real comparison of the two.

The 9000 is big and the 8400 is compact. Not sure if the 9000 has a fullscreen option but the 8400 does. 8400 has bluetooth. I think the cameras are about the same but to early to tell. 8400 provides up to 4.0 hrs talk time and if Phonescoop is right the 9000 provides 3.2 hrs talk time. As far as build I like the 8400 better then the 9000. I never really liked the 9000 design/build because it just seemed weird to me.

I believe other than the smaller screen in the 8400 it is equal to or better than the 9000.

i noted this in the other thread and can't verify it, but it looks like from pictures that the 8400 has an icon bar at the top of the screen, unlike the 9000 which just places icons over your background. Essentially makes the screen smaller which might be what dragon was talking about.

My 9000 is cracking at the Top, I gotta get an 8400 ASAP, if it goes before that I may have to activate my 5600. I really like the design of the 9000. It was a legacy of its time. The design of the 5500 was in a way great too.

has n e one ever played with the 7500? and you know what the features of the of the 9000 are, right? put that in a blender with a bluetooth headset, mix them up, pour, and out comes the 8400... i got to play with one the other day... they're kinda cool... good picture quality.. all the usualy stuff of an evdo phone, "on demand, media, music, ect." it has a trans flash slot on the side... it comes with little face plates that clip on... they're kinda cool, i guess... i wouldn't use them, but thats just me... still has speaker phone.... and does the voice echo thing... just like the 9000, you can have voice dial on the phone without having to pre-record your voice... kinda like voice signal, but different.... it also has ready link... which can be used while using your bluetooth...

The 9000 is good phone but it's out dated. 9000 is as big or bigger then the first camera phone(5300)that came out 4 years ago. You would think the size differance alone wouldbe enough for some people to want a 8400 from a 9000. I guess some people dont mind carrying a pda size flip phone around.

And does a 2gb microcard exist?

And does a 2gb microcard exist?

Yep, SanDisk makes a micro SD 2gb card, I just won one off ebay on Saturday for 66$ plus 4.50 shipping and 2$ insurance.... i'm crossing my fingers that 1gb+ is functional in my 8400 , but it seems it will...the only warning in the manual is that one shouldn't exceed 1000 files on the TransFlash / mSD card

-Yes, it can be activated by pressing the middle of the volume side key for 1.5-2 sec's

- Plays video's, im not sure about video ringers...haven't tried that yet

-Not that i've found, it's been mentioned in the stickied review 8400 thread, but no mention of it in the manual or help section for the media player

-No, if u are asking about external buttons to do this one song back function... volume works for it... RL key does nothing, speaker phone key pauses, and camera side key advances... internal buttons allow u to ffwd and rwd and also browse through songs quite easily & u can select 'play all' or 'random' play mode.

-Nope

-Haven't tried BT for file transfer as of yet, just for the headset... if this is possible it will quickly calm me down about having to sign up for vision just for the data side to upload aac/mp3's to the web and download them through txt msg's ... the USB cable doesn't let u transfer to the internal 60mb of memory/ringer folder =/

-haven't tried much with the video stuff yet.. but from the manual and a demo in the store by employee , widescreen is sideways (maybe someone else can chime in on this and the other points i vaguely addressed)

I wonder the same... not that I want them to replace it with a 8400, but my phone has been acting up and I have the feeling that if I take it to the sprint store it will fail the test. The only reason I haven't taken it is because I don't want them to replace it with anything else other than the 9000. Now that the 8400 i feel a little better but still prefer the 9000. I could imagine if I take the 8400 in the long run if something happens to the 8400 they won't give me something comparable to what I paid for the 9000.

I had a Fusic for a few days. Rubber buttons and a non QVGA screen plus mo-money. The hinge doesn't snap tight like most phones either. For the money an 8400 can't be beat. Its your choice, just my two cents.
