BitPim is very finicky on certain phones...
so far, I've had problems transferring my phonebook to my 5500, as well as my 8300...
the data appears to be fine, but you will notice that the phones will SORT the entries all wrong... kind of a weird phenomenon... I had to go through on both phones and simply edit them and save... (no changes) and then they sorted properly...
I wonder what Sprint uses in-store? I've never had a problem when they transfer it for me...

I messed around with bitpim for about 2 hrs yesterday trying to get my contacts off my 5300 and onto my 9000. It finally worked, but alas, i'm not sure how or why it all of a sudden transfered.
The 2 hrs it took was borderline worth the $15 sprint was going to charge to do it for me. You make the call.

I've had tons of problems with the 5500 and bitpim... if one of your phonebook entries has an invalid character, somehow, which happened multiple times... the phone will crash and you have to reset the memory....

That's not so good maybe it needs to make a full clean read to make it work. so far so good with me, even backup some pic's. maybe the problem could be the phones software.

it's probably because I sort my phone book by putting numbers in front of the name... 1-friends 2-family 3-businesses, etc... every phone responds differently to this, and I have had nothing but problems...
why the hell don't we have CATEGORIES in our phonebook? damnit! every other carrier has this... I still haven't seen a sprint phone like this... maybe the cheap nokias have it or something... but I've just never seen it... :(
