You don't even need to google for that one.. www.slingbox.com

But in short, it is a device that lets you watch/control your home TV over the internet.

Why would you need Power Vision? My understanding is, you just connect to your SlingBox over the internet, so if you have unlimited Vision, shouldn't that work? Or, is it a question of bandwidth? BTW, I don't have my SlingBox yet, but plan to get one very soon. And hopefully, the rumors of a client for my Treo 650 by the end of the year are true. The packaging on the latest SlingBox products has logos of supported platforms on the side, and Palm is there, albeit with a black sticker covering it.

I would think it a bandwidth issue -

And as the other poster said, if you are paying for a powervision package then you get unlimited internet and you wouldnt be charged any extra -

If however, you do not have a vision 'plan' on your account, then you would still be able to watch but you would pay by the kb downloaded to your phone.

I have unlimited Vision on my account, but not Power Vision. Since the SlingPlayer software would presumeably just connect to the Internet, I am hoping that it will be able to do so just like any third-party browser or other network software would. As I said before, I hope it doesn't need the bandwidth of Power Vision to work. I guess we'll find out when the player comes out. One thing I may do is briefly connect my PC to the net using PDANet through the phone, and see how the player runs on the PC. That should give a good idea how it would work.

Well let me say this: there are no vision enabled devices that will work with Slingbox. If you want to use a Slingplayer on your phone, you'll need a Windows Mobile device (basically you'll need either the 6700, 700wx, or 830w), and by that time, you'll already have Power Vision. You may be able to keep your regular vision plan, but the point is, you'll need a WM device, all of which (that are currently offered by Sprint) have powervision.

Also, I'm quite sure you would need Power Vision bandwidth to stream a Slingbox at an acceptable quality level. The max bandwidth of a 1xRTT (vision) connection is 144 kbps, which is 18kbps, not nearly enough for proper video streaming. Consider the fact that you probably wouldn't hit 144kbps, then it comes apparent that Power Vision is the only way to go.
