Well, I have been with Sprint for 6+ years and never got a phone through them other than the first one I got. (all of the other phones were ones that I bought from other people or hand-me-downs) So I told them that and I told them I wanted the best deal possible on a pda and was offered the 6700 for $250 and I just asked if they could give it to me for 150 and they said yes (i got a really really nice rep). Then a couple of days later I called and asked for another 6700 and they wouldnt give one to me for the same price so I told them to price match that one that I got before. This guy was trying anything to NOT give it to me for that cheap but them I guess he called over a supervisor and the supervisor said it was ok. (i heard him talking to someone else on his end other than me)

echaos, opinions really vary on the two. personally, i like the 6700 better just because i don't like how small th ebuttons on the treo (and i have small hands for a guy).
to the original poster, i got my 6700 for $100 and probably could've pressed for better (the guy didn't put up any fight at all, just gave it to me right away). i had a pretty ordinary play that was like $30 a month and had it for maybe 4 months but never missed a payment. all depends on your rep.

what did u do to get that price and do u happen to remember what the reps name & extension was. Is it anything I need to say to get that price. Currently I am a nextel customer but I was sprint for 3-4 years b4 that, but it shouldn't matter w/ the whole sprint/nextel merger. Let me know what to do, I would like to get one of these phones here in the next week.

well it all started when i wanted to mirror my mom's account (i set up sero with all the perks and discounts). when i had it mirrored, turns out my contract was extended. i simply called into retentions and asked them to return my contract to the original contract. when i was asked why, i told them that i was really looking forward to a new phone and if i had my old contract, i could terminate it so that i can get a new one. the guy asked me if i'd stay if i could get a new phone and i said sure. asked me what i wanted and how much i wanted to pay for it. i said 6700 for $100 and he said no problem.
what i was prepared to do, however, was make up some story about how i was at a new verizon store that opened in my area and that the manager offered me a 6700 for $50-100 if i ported my number over yada yada i feel like i should be a valued customer. seems like that stuff should work but i remember people saying that retentions is getting stingy now so you might not be able to get deals as good now.

I've also tried to get a treo at a decent price but the couple people I have talked to won't go less than 350. Thats trading in my fusic and knocking off the price of that phone on the treo's retail..
Can anyone help get me a treo for the mentioned $100-150?

Hey I've been working on retention for the last week or so and right now I got the plan where I neeed but I cant get the 6700 for the 100-150 I want to pay for it. I spoke with someone earlier that offered it for 250 and I could stay on the line so I had to hang up and try again tonight (she was an easy rep too). Well tonight the rep I spoke to said the lowest she could do was 450 and she wouldnt budge so I told her to note my account for the plan she offered and I would call back for the phone. Anyone think I can still get the phone for less that $150? I know retentions has been tough lately.

I don't know, but I read somewhere here on the boards that they were going to offer a $100 rebate on the 6700 pretty soon, so if you get the phone down to a price that you like and add the additional rebate, you might reach a price that you like. You will have to wait for the check though, but that's what I did to get mine and I'm happy with what I paid.

Kfra315,
There's a guy on eBay selling many brand-new PPC-6700 for $0.99 "Buy-now" with instant rebate and no activation charge. Only catch is you have to start a new service or add a line to your existing lines. He has 100% postive feedback, so he has good track record. This beats every deal I've read or seen.

That ebay deal is a good deal, however being with sprint for several years has to have some effect on what they're allowed to offer you retentions wise I'm certain (if they try to be tough/not budge they're obviously just having a bad day I can bet).

A couple of months ago I was in between on what phone I wanted. I ended up with the a900. I haven't had as many problems as others have but I'm wishing I would have gone with either the 6700 or treo. At this point however, I don't think I can get a deal on a phone unless I go the ebay route. Which, isn't all that bad. I just don't want to pay the additional $10/month for a line I won't use just to get either phone. Over 2 years, I still end up paying $250.

I had a similar experience to other users posting here. I had 3 lines of service, 2 out of contract, customer since 1998, never used any phone upgrade credits. I wanted a PPC6700 or Treo700. Cindy my retention CSR wouldn't budge on the $200 price I was willing to pay, she would only go $250. Ultimately, I cancelled my 3rd line instead of getting the deal I wanted. All after about 1 hour on hold, waiting patiently and courtesly to see if she could do better, again and again.

Is there a plan minimum and or time that you have to have the extra line activated in order to recieve this discount? For example what the heck do I do if I just want the phone on the current number not a new one. Can I open up a new line and then switch the 700wx with my A900 and have the 700 on my current number? Any help would be great.

I think you can do that but you have to have the new line active for a certain period of time. Basically you have to have the line even though you won't use it. After the time period, I think you can move esn's however you want to. If you don't have to pay for the third line, then great. But if you are paying the $10/month, you still end up paying $250 over the life of the contract. I guess it depends on how you want to do things.

I was looking into the ppc-6700 for my dad.
They now have a $100 mail in rebate, which if you include the $150 upgrade rebate, the final price comes to $199. Thats still good deal in my opinion.

Were you close or at the end of your contract?
I'd still like to go cheaper. Otherwise I should go the ebay route and just pay the $10/month extra for the third line. I don't really want to do that but it looks like if I may need to do that.

Hey hey, first post, but i been reading around and eager to get my hands on a discounted ppc or 700wx. Only problem is I been with sprint for about a month now. Yea i know!!! I been with nextel for like 5 years but I am sure that doesnt count as far as retention. I have the Katana right now and its a nice phone but treo 700 would be ooo soo much nicer

We were not at the end of our contract. May 2006 my hubby needed a new phone an re-newed out contract for two years. I got my phone in September. Renewed our contract for another two years.

you could always try this route
goto into a corporate store sign up for a new account and have the store manager match the 299 price on the site. Tell him that you hate rebates and if you can get it for $199 which is the post rebate price. Then cancel the account in a few days then switch it onto your existing account. then mail in the $100 rebate and you have a 6700 for 99 plus tax

That wouldn't work because don't you have to have the account active for a certain amount of time? Doesn't the rebate people check on if the account is still active before mailing the rebate back? Also, if you cancelled the account, wouldn't they ding you for the full price of the phone unless you took it back? Someone help me here but if seems like alot of holes in that line of thinking.
Someone also help me but someone told me that recently employees and family could get treo's for $50. Anyone confirm this? If true, I missed a golden opportunity.

I just bought a 700wx over the phone with a new SERO plan and paid $499 minus a $100 mail in rebate. Blah.
Maybe I should call them up in a week or two while I am still in my trial period and ask them if they can match Verizon's $299 out of pocket deal or else i'll cancel. ;)

Heard that Sprint ran some Oracle World promo this past week. They were offering Oracle employees a range of phones including a $50 6700 and $100 700wx. You had to sign up for a weird 0-minute flat rate plan though for $22/month. Anytime minutes were $0.06 each but you do get night&weekends at 9PM, unlimited SMS, and unlimited data.

Been with sprint for about three months, but four plus years with nextel. I originally purchased two samsung a 900 phones. I have not been happy with the phone and it has been documented through retentions. The best they told me they could do was knock off 150. Gonna call and threaten to leave unless they match the verizon price of 299. I have read this working and just wondered if I even have a chance. Any help is appreciated.
Edit. the phone that I am after is the 700wx

IS there a more simple way to get a 6700 for around 100? I'm new to the site and smrint (almost a year) and i'm not really sure what retentions are. MY plan is a family shared plan and my mom isnt too great at paying on time. Is there a simple way to get a discount?
