View Full Version : Retention / Contract Question

So I broke my phone the other day and just discovered that I'm not under contract anymore with Sprint. I'm not eligible for a handset upgrade until December though.

My primary question is that I was under the impression that my mom IS under contract for almost 2 years still and we're on the same account. Is this possible? If so, how much will they care about losing me since my mom's plan would basically stay the same?

Also, I'm guessing you get this constantly but assuming a ~$100/mo plan with some nice grandfathered benefits, what can I expect? I'm assuming getting my rebate bumped up to now would be no problem at all; should I ask for more?

Each line can have different contract dates. Shared plans will have the same features, but the contract agreement can still expire at different times.

If you're under a shared plan, they probably won't care unless the added line is an addition fee.

Not knowing what your extra perks and such are, it's hard to say what Sprint will offer you.

Depending on what your situation is, you could always cancel your line out...being that it is not under contract, then add a new line of service from some place like wirefly.com or letstalk.com and get a free...or deep discounted phone.

You'd loose your number....unless you have somewhere you can port it, but you'd get a new phone.

Is it a bad idea to mention that I'm considering something like losing my number and coming back on via wirefly?

I think I'll just call and see what they offer. All I really want is to use my mom's old phone (which they said was broken and talked her into a new phone) without paying a fee, resetting my rebate, or starting a contract. Even if they offered to bump up my rebate to now I really don't have the money to spend on a new phone.
