I called into customer service in June because a SPRINT rep lied to my face about being able to keer my standard vision on my MM-9000. They gave me 500 text messages for free, and a $10 discount on the EVDO vision so I would be paying $15. I get a letter in the mail today saying that my contract has been extended to 06/2008 :irked: WHAT! I called customer service and explained what happened, the rep saidthey should not have dome that and some one would call me back. I said I'll take the 2 year extension if I could get a 700P. She said some one will call me back... :irked: :irked: :irked: :irked: I'm so f'n pissed off right now! Why is it that the people who pat thier bills, and do what they are supposed to do always have these probelms with SPRINT? If they change my contract back to January, and they don't give me anything for this I'm soo going to Verizon. I get 18% for my job for them anyways :deal:

This sort of thing happened to me too.

Long story short...My roaming didn't bill correctly on the primary line, but did bill properly on the sub lines. CS mentioned that a fix was in the works for my problem (apparently it was not just me) and that they would give me $120 service credit ($5 service credit / month) for the next 24 months so the service would be of no charge as an apology for their billing problems.

A couple days later I get a letter confirming my contract renewal. I called Sprint and a high priority note was placed on the account to honor the original contract since I never agreed to renewing my agreement.

Sprint is getting as tricky as the former AT&T in regards to contract renewal.

You can keep standard vision on . They have to use the P2K system for the swap

All you have to is call them up and explain that you didn't agree to a new two year agreement and someone should be willing to place a high priority note on the account honoring the original date.

If u want i'll note your account. i think that u are just upset about it right now. i mean i can put the note about your agreement if u want to. u have enjoyed your service and you enjoy being here and helping. i truly think that you are speaking in anger and dont wanna leave....

I don't know in practice, but in principal, they can't just send you a letter commiting you to 2 years if you didn't agree to it. Thats not legal. If your previous contract is up you should be able to cancel and walk with no termination fee. I wouldn't let it drag out. Make it clear that you don't agree to the contract extention. Send a certified letter with return receipt.

Exactly! When this ****ing rep said that in July 2004 that I wasn't supposed to have all these extras, she just went ahead and took them off without telling nobody. When I checked my account, that's when I realized ... huh? W-T-F??? I called in and said that we determined (her office) that you had too many free stuffs on your account, so we just took them off. W-T-F??? Just took them off???

It's a good thing I got letters from Sprint/Executive Services stating all of my plan and discounts in writing. I coughed it up and sent it back to them.

Until just recently, they refused to fix my account. Refused, as in totally ... beat it and leave sort of attitude. If you don't like it, just pack up your bags and leave planet earth. We run this place, and if you don't like it, just leave the planet.

Now, Lydia from Business/eCare and Sandy from the Loyalty group stepped in, read the notes, and basically said ... I can't believe this ... I can't believe this is Sprint, our company (yes, very nice) and fixed it all up for me. Mac added more minutes on Line 2 and all is good. Can't check until my next billing cycle begins, but should be all good.

Now, the question is ... how can reps screw up an account so badly that it takes years to fix it?

I have a thread on my issues around here somewhere..BUT I ended up getting them
to get my contract set back to where it should be..The guy I dealt with said that is called "Slanding" (?)..So when you speak to someone I would mention this..They will take care of it if you can ever get someone that is willing..Good luck...I know how furiating this can be..

Now, Lydia from Business/eCare

I've written into busniess eCare a couple times in the last week asking questions, and I've heard back from her twice. Both times she was great.. once even pointing out something that could have been a problem and offering to fix it without me even asking.

Thumbs up, Lydia. :tu:

Slamming. Its the practice of adding unwanted features to customers accounts without their consent. Highly illegal, btw. If the rep isn't fired, they can be held liable.

We just need to copy her a million times, replace all the bad reps with her and Sprint would be an awesome company to work with, do business with and just excellent all around!!!

Of course, what the company is probably going to do is take her off the front end and put her working the mailroom since it is actually doing the company too much good!

Slamming is illegal, but lots of companies look the other way. I took two long year to sort out my mess, and that rep probably got a promotion before she left the company on her own. Lots of other people experienced the pain of slamming or have unauthorized changes to their account. It really shouldn't be this way, but it does happen. There is no incentive to keep the company slammers out of customer accounts.

For reps that slam accounts, they should have them wear a sign around their neck, get paraded around the company lounges and the front lobby very slowly by corporate security, then left out by the garbage dumpster until the next trash day!

I was helping my friend to get free roaming and/or free Sprint to Home just this week and the eCare rep we got was a bit too eager... so I can see how some reps can make changes and not even tell you. I merely "inquired" about it and he replied back stating roaming could not be done but he gave my friend a 15% discount and Sprint to Home at $5 but without confirming with us first... He just put it on the account. He said to write back and he could revert the changes if my friend didn't like it.

I wrote back thanking him for the discount, but reminding him that Sprint to Home should be free of charge because my friend has Sprint Long Distance.

I just had never seen things changed without asking for confirmation. Everytime I've asked eCare for something, they write back stating what they can do and if I want the changes, to write back to confirm I accept.

I always like to confirm that the contract date will NOT be changing whenever I've accepted a freebie/promo... I'll also call the next day and re-confirm with a different rep that this is the case. These are the only proven ways to cover yourself, I think...

The freebies were from the lies that were told to me, and I was also told that they wouldn't effect my contract. All SPRINT reps lie, all SPRINT reps don't care how long you jave been a customer. I haven't been told the true by one rep either instore or on the phone. They seem to solve problems, but cause more! I've already complained to the BBB! If you don't know your job or truely don't care about making up for mistakes without forcing a new contract on people get a new job!

Doesn't that make sense, since you only got them on your account for renewing a 2 year contract?
All this talk about reporting them to the Better Business Bureau is ridiculous. READ your bill, and if you had ONE rep who was dishonest and didn't tell you your contract would be renewed or you'd have to pay for services after the first free month, don't accept free stuff again. Or ASK if it will renew your contract. Don't paint the whole company with one brush. Some of them do know what they're doing and customers who threaten to walk after one problem are welcome to it. It's makes the line shorter for the rest of us.

4 things:

1-This is a hell of a way to make an entrance! You wasted your first post on this site!

2- I know more about Sprint then most people. Common sense would tell any Sprint rep that optional services cannot extend your contract, if they are given for a screw-up on Sprints part

3-I read evey line of my bill every month. Your contact experation is not listed. maybe you should read yours

4- Too late! complaint has aleady been filed

When a Sprint customer is nearing the end of their contract it makes them eligible for a selection of 'free' things such as 500 text messages, free vision, 10% off their MRC or a one time $50, $70 or $120 service credit (depending on their MRC). They're free in return for a new 2 year contract. That's probably what they were offering you.
And I have been reading this forum for months and now that I have a new phone I have questions about I decided to register so I can ask them. I read comments like yours all the time and finally decided to put in my two cents, which is what the forum is for.

I remember seeing the contract end-date on the part of the site that offered the free phone upgrade (Special Offers). It would be displayed when checking for your eligibility for the free upgrade. I no longer see the Phone Upgrade offer, possibly because I took advantage of the Phone Upgrade offer in May and would not be eligible at this time. I don’t see it anywhere on Sprint.com or my invoice.

I also thought, but not positive, it was part of the message when calling *4. I called tonight and it was not included in the message.

Dear Jeff,

Thank you for contacting Sprint together with Nextel. I will be happy to provide you information about the plan details. Power Vision pack is free for you along with picture mail option. 500 Text Messaging option is also free for both these lines. However, this information will not be available online. The above information will reflect on your bill. The service credit of $150.00 has also been applied on your account. This credit will reflect against the monthly charges on your future bills. Thank you for the email, and let us know if you have any further questions. It is our pleasure to assist you. Candance S.
