I was just wondering if you werent with sprint, which provider would you be with and why? Im considering switching providers in teh near future and would like to know what you guys think. Im trying to look at it as best overall with network, phone selection, price and features.

Verizon has the best coverage here in Hawaii, but very expensive for data and things. Cingular is great too here, but lacking in certain spots. I like Cingular's rollover minute plan, but still, more expensive than Sprint. T-Mobile here ... well, sucks when it comes to coverage. If it wasn't Sprint, well, maybe I'll go back to my landline phone?

I'd probably hit up Verizon. Data is more expensive at every other carrier, so that's almost a wash. However, I am NOT a GSM fan at all, so I'd stick with CDMA and right now I'm kinda liking the looks of the LG Chocolate, so that may sway me if i were to consider moving.

id be splatting with cingular. they have 92% of the coverage here in kentucky. everyone here has cingular. im in western ky, but in eastern, and central ky, thats all everyone has. id get a p850, 8500, e770, lgcu500, or w900.

http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/compare.php?id%5B%5D=909&id%5B%5D=899&id%5B%5D=860&id%5B%5D=951&id%5B%5D=893

the phone has to have the 850 gsm band though, cuz it gets rural here n ky.

i can pick up a RS 3rd party employee plan through cingular of $20 a month and 2,000 min but i dont need 2 carriers like some ppl...*cough* Teh_Toidi *cough*

I now have a Verizon E815 "Navy" phone now that replaces my old Nextel. I have to say I really like the phone and coverage has been great.

Id have to jump to Cingular as well, they have a lot of coverage in the 1900 mhz band, and you gotta love the features of those gsm phones.

probably try t-mobile as my husband has a t-mobile line, that's his "personal" phone. He also hogs my sprint minutes!!

Verizon, for the sole purpose of staying with CDMA voice quality. No option for early night/weekend calls is poor though.

Yep, good call on the VZN lack of 7pm. God, now that we're all down to debating it, seems like as much as we have some gripes, good ole Sprint is still kinda a front runner???? Why doesn't the rest of the USA know this yet? LOL

I had a bad experience with them and would never go back, but they do have one thing that Sprint doesn't have and that is all holidays are free minutes, including Mother's day.

I'd have to go to Cingular, just because my son works for them. I do like the idea of being able to switch phones anytime I want.

The others big companies su*k, so why would I consider anyone other than Sprint? If Sprint never existed or goes out of business I suppose I would go with Verizon since they have the best customer service according to what I've read. Thats the only part of their operation that is better than Sprint! :bang:

Alltel and Verizon have coverage in areas where Sprint is spotty.

My sister has had everyone. The only service that worked where she lived was Verizon. Everyone else lost signal.

Wierd how that works.

Yup, Verizon phones are like crippled to the max!!! I used to have an Audiovox 9950 phone (same as my Toshiba phone) and guess what? It had none of the features that my Sprint phone had. It was like a voice only phone! Terrible!

As much as i would hate to, I would have to give VZW my money (Best Coverage and Call Quality just like Sprint to me anyway)....God I hate their Data Prices and I would go insane if i ever had to go back to 9pm nights

There are so many factors for the reason I will not leave Sprint
1 My Plan
2 6 and 7 pm nights
3 M2M (My account uses on adverage around 12K a month)
4 Data (EDGE and 1XRTT suck compared to EVDO, VZW is toooooo high and strict with their EVDO)
5 I have different Area Codes on My account (267, 201-973, 412), No one else will let you have a family plan with different CSA's
6 Having the ability to bill equipment to my account is nice

I look at the whole package with each company, not just one or two factors. For me Sprint is the only choice. The others still s*ck.

Thanks for the input every1, seems like all the other carriers have some pretty big faults although i do like the idea of being able to buy an unlocked phone. Looks like im sticking with sprint for now though.

Verizon Family plan so I would get the unlimited IN calling and most of my friends who do not have sprint not have Verizon. I would hate the price for Data on Verizon thou.

Data isn't that bad $15 for unlimited vcast, mobile web 2, and email.

I had a bad experience with them and would never go back, but they do have one thing that Sprint doesn't have and that is all holidays are free minutes, including Mother's day.

I'd have to go to Cingular, just because my son works for them. I do like the idea of being able to switch phones anytime I want.

Do they really give you the holidays?? I didn't know that, where can I find it in writing??

edit: this is the only link (http://www.vzwshop.com/popups/customerinformation_popup.aspx) I could find that even mentioned holidays but it doesn't say if its included or not

They used to give free holiday's, but don't any more. That changed earlier this year.

Well, I had Sprint for 3 plus years and left in December 2004. Went to Cingular because the coverage was equivalent to what I had and at the time, the pricing was equivalent, as well. They also gave me four lines when Sprint wouldn't remove my ASL, so that made me happy. The upgrade program was miles ahead of Sprint's and I found the audio quality better. In addition, the prospect of unlocked phones, SIM cards, and all that was too enticing to pass up.

I got a T-Mobile pre-paid line six months ago. I give it out as my home phone number. That's just cuz I could.

If I had to go CDMA again, I would go with either Qwest, which is the Sprint network minus all the Sprint bulls**t. Or Helio. I may actually be testing out Helio here very soon, I just can't seem to bring myself to activate the phone (thanks Jake). But, I have no intention of ever using Sprint again as long as it continues with the policies that it currently employs, which I feel are worse than they were when I left. And I'll never use Verizon again, either. They're worse than Sprint.

Can't beat that unlimited plan that landline plans have, only drawback is you can't carry it with you.

Oh ya? Those were really cool when holidays were considered off-peak. Verizon changed that? Oh wow ... they hurting for cash too!
