I have been a long time reader, first time poster. I thought that I would post this here rather than the merger because there is a lot more activity here. If that is wrong, please move it.

I have a Nextel Partners $99.99 for unlimited anytime minutes. My goal is to switch that to Sprint. I do not want to sign a contract unless they are willing to give me that new LG Fusic phone for free (as I see offered to new customers online). If I don't sign a contract I want them to activiate the account to a Sprint phone I buy somewhere else.

I've talked to a lot of different people including both sprint & nextel partners customer care as well to some people at a sprint corporate store. It seems the big deal is getting the same plan when I switch.

What is the best way to accomplish my goal?

I'm sure there are some people on here that would be willing to lend a hand. Thank you all so much in advice.

i seriously, SERIOUSLY doubt you will be able to keep the unlimited $99.99 plan. Good luck with that though

Wirelessly posted (Treo 650: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows 98; PalmSource/hspr-H102; Blazer/4.0) 16;320x320)

Never gonna happen.

Sprint treats Nextel Swaps as upgrades. There is NO discretion on upgrades (plans or phones)

You want a $330 phone for free and to pay $100 a month less than anyone else with unlimited minutes. Sprint Loses over $2700 on a 2 year contract.

If you go no contract the ONLY plan available is 200 ATM for $39.99 Mo.

Again I say...

Never gonna happen.

I know a few friends who have the same plan I have except with sprint. I appreciate your bluntness but there has to be a way. I've been told I can switch my plan but I'll have to sign a new agreement and pay $149 for the phone. Is that the best offer I'm going to get?

I'm not sure I believe ya'll on here but I thank you for your replies.

The codes might be there for the plan....there are codes for alot of special plans, but the key is actually getting it.

The best you could do is a FI plan add 6pm, M2M, and S2H That the only way around completely unlimited that i can see. You might even be able to score free 6pm M2M, Then you really be in business........

My Cousin has the FI 300/39.95 plan with Free M2M and 7pm and i tell ya its like he has a Unlimited Plan cause he just yaks away on the phone all the time..and he only pays 50$ a month after taxes.

IF you could get the FI/300 with free M2M and 6 or 7pm, And you knew how to make the most of your plan...You too could feel like you have an unlimited plan

Well...it appears that I can switch to sprint from Nextel Partners, and it appears that I can keep my plan, I just have to sign a 2-year agreement and pay $179 for the phone I want.

The Sprint people didn't seem to care that my contract is up in a week. I guess that you can switch without an early disconnect penalty even if you have 1 year 51 weeks left. Does that sound right?

This plan may be a little neaky but it may work. I thought about calling Nextel Partners customer retention, working out a sweet deal on an i870 phone or such. Then I can sell that phone on ebay and use the proceeds to pay full price for the Sprint phone when I switch.

I'm not sure if I want to do all that but I don't see a flaw in it yet. What does everyone else think? Maybe I should just keep Nextel.

Thanks all :)

Not sure, after that statement why are you asking about what you should do.

I don't think they are going to get too picky about someone that has some remaining contract, but I would think that they'd notice someone that just renewed and then tried to switch. Maybe not, but let me just say that the systems aren't as separated as you once thought they were.

It's all good.

The thing to consider is, in my mind, not what you can get for free, but what gives you the best service? In the end you are saving $100/month over what everyone else can get for an unlimited plan, so honestly the cost of the phone should really be a drop in the bucket. So, question is, between Sprint and Nextel, which gives you the best for your money, since the money is the same?

That is a question only you can really answer.
