Verichat?

Anyone having problems connecting to any of the servers? Mine was working fine earlier today, now I can't connect to any IM servers. I keep getting an error saying, "Cannot connect to IM proxy server." What gives??

I'm connected to AIM right now. I have had problems with AIM in general (via PC) so I think something else is going on?

Naw, its working now, but had major issues yesterday. Did you use it yesterday? And it was definitely their servers, everything else worked fine, as did aim and everything from the desktop.

I've emailed their customer service department several times before and have NEVER gotten a response. Ugh, I hope this problem is solved soon because I've tried using other IM clients and I can't stand them...they don't come close to Verichat. I emailed them several times once, and they finally answered me a month after my original email, and only after I threatened them since this is a subscription/yearly license we pay for.

It does suck that there's no real other options. Agile just doesn't cut it. I LOVE Verichat 99% of the time, but when it doesn't work and there's 0 support it sucks.

sorry I was out most of today (was at a taping for the Colbert Report :clap: ) so I didn't use Verichat at all.

In short, yeah I had problems Monday with connecting and I also had problems connecting to the AIM service on my desktop, not sure if they were related. I'll probably give it a shot tomorrow.

well, we're primarily talking about the ppc version here but anyways, it's understandable that some people don't want to pay.

personally, i love the convience of verichat and the "always on/relay" system. Shoot, I can close (not sign-out) from verichat, restart my PPC numerous times, wait 3 days and still get a chat message (which, has happened and kind of freaked me out!). That's impressive and a nice feature.

I didn't even look at the phones everyone had. Mundu supports that feature as well, but AFAIK it is Palm OS only. It isn't quite as robust (it wiill not survive through a soft reset,) but it does receive messages while the phone is in standby, which is really all I wanted it to do. It is also 5-way friendly, and the Palm Verichat has a few niggling issues with that that annoy me.

Someone really should write a good open source messaging app. Although I've noticed in general there isn't a lot of open source PDA software. Weird.

Weird, I still can't connect. I've even uninstalled and reinstalled. This seems to be a common theme though. A lot of users seem to have periods where they just can't connect at all, and it doesn't seem to be congruent to other times that other people have troubles.. I'm gonna uninstall, clean the registry, and try a fresh install of it just to be sure.

Did a complete uninstall, and cleaned the registry.. but it still didn't get everything, as when I reinstalled it still had my registration hidden away in there somewhere. Either way, it still won't let me connect to AIM/Google/MSN/Yahoo/etc through VeriChat. Everything else on the device is working fine.

Any other players besides Malatesta able to check their's to be sure?

EDIT: Should add that I can't connect via the ActiveSync connection either when plugged into the computer.

Another update: Did a restore from a week ago and it still doesn't work. It worked fine last week.. so it should still be working, but I tried the restore just in case and it still doesn't work. Argh!

Further update: Since I had a backup handy, I did a hard reset. Installed only VeriChat, completely unregistered, still won't connect. I can't see how it would be an issue with the device, since some other people are having the random issues too. And its obviously not a program conflict because its a fresh reset of the device and brand new install.

Now I'm thoroughly stumped.

I've been having issues as well. Verichat seriously needs to get their stuff together, even their support system is terrible. I've had to download several other IM clients just to use as backup for when Verichat is down. The program may be great itself at times, but when its down and there's no support, it really SUCKS.
