View Full Version : Switching Browser User Agents?

Here's the rundown... I want some older Sprint games only found on older phones(such as the LG 535). Somewhere the phones tells the webpage what model the phone is. This does NOT rely on the ESN or Vision Username as I have a Katana ESN and Fusic Vision name on my A900.

I found the registry.dat file which I believe contains the user agent. This is why I say "I believe". I have a a900 flash file(.bin) which I keep handy.. it's much easier to search through one giant .bin rather than file by file with QPST/Hex Editor. So I found THIS (http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/4364/pic54200641455pm814200650416pmun6.jpg) in the .bin file. I finally found a similar string in the registry.dat file in the brew > mod > obione > msm folder. So I edited the 900 to say 920 just to keep things simple. Overwrote the file(I'm using QPST btw)... checked the registry.dat after the reboot... says A920 still so I open up the browser and go to the Sprint home page.. go to downloads... still the same options for downloads.. so obv it didn't work.

Anyone know if this is even possible without a complete overhaul of the filesystem? Am I wasting my time? I mean.. I know this isn't important.. and isn't that beneficial.. but I thought it'd be a cool hack. If anyone has an insight.. or would like to take part in this 'project' and help out... feel free to post or msg me. I REALLY wanna accomplish this.

ok.. i can successfully download A920 games/apps/wallpapers from my A900(yay!).

You can further this experiment by posting your registry.dat and obigo.rdf files using QPST/BitPim/Something that reads the file system.

The files can be found within the brew > mod > obione folder. reg.dat is in the msm folder... obigo.rdf is in the stk folder.

im specifically looking for the files of a Sanyo 5600, Samsung A800/A880 and LG 535.

please PM or post in here if youre interested or able to help.
