View Full Version : Get rid of the annoying "permission check" in apps, and change to "always allow"

 I have finally found out how to give you the option of "Always allow" in all the apps and games. :clapping: (I am assuming whoever reads this has some knowledge using Qpst) This is how you do it:

-First you need to connect your phone your computer via usb.
-Next run Qpst (if you dont have it then 'google' it, there will be a link to download somewhere.)
-Once Qpst is open use the EFS Explorer to open the following folders in your phone: brew/mod/obione.
-Once in the "obione" folder, right click on the "_policy.txt" file and select "copy from phone..." then save it to your desktop.
-!!NOTE!! create a backup of the file in case you mess up your phone!!
-Now, open up the "_policy.txt" file and look for the "domain: embedded" "domain: Bell-Trust" "domain: Silver-Trust" and "domain: untrusted" titles
-Under these titles it will say either "allow" "blanket(oneshot)" "session(oneshot)" or "oneshot(oneshot)" for all of the services.
-Change the items you are having problems with to "allow" under all 4 titles.

Example: (To change 'Multimedia Access')

domain: untrusted

oneshot(oneshot): Net_Access

oneshot(oneshot): Message_Reception

oneshot(oneshot): Message_Delivery

oneshot(oneshot): Personal_Data_Write_Access

oneshot(oneshot): Application_Self_Start

oneshot(oneshot): Multimedia_Access

oneshot(oneshot): Device_Connectivity_Bluetooth

oneshot(oneshot): Location

Changed to:

domain: untrusted

oneshot(oneshot): Net_Access

oneshot(oneshot): Message_Reception

oneshot(oneshot): Message_Delivery

oneshot(oneshot): Personal_Data_Write_Access

oneshot(oneshot): Application_Self_Start

allow: Multimedia_Access

oneshot(oneshot): Device_Connectivity_Bluetooth

oneshot(oneshot): Location

-Now save the changed file and drag and drop it in the "obione" folder in your Qpst EFS Explorer window. It will ask you if you want to overwrite the file. Select "Yes".
-Now restart your phone.
-And there you have it!!! Now when you open a new app or game, it will only ask you the first time you open the program wether you want to "always allow" "never allow" "allow this time" etc. etc. etc...... and it will never ask again.
-The phone that I tested this method on is the Samsung A900 under "bell mobility" and it is 100% effective.
-Any questions just ask. Hope some people find this useful. :)

or, instead of all that work, you could just hit "always allow" and have it do the exact same thing as you just did!

This would only work for that particular application. What he is doing above is setting your phone to "always allow" network access for any application installed in the future.

well what's the point in that? i mean, cool hack, but....why risk making a paperweight for a click?

fix the 900's bluetooth issue...9000's static issue...the A800 period. :tu:

This hack would be good for people who own a 5600 who everytime they run some apps such as Telenav it asks for GPS access.

A lot of people are having problems with the newer phones like the a900 where you dont have an "always allow" option. So i posted this hack as a way to enable these options. Once I did this to my phone you still have the options to "never allow" or "allow just this session" etc etc.... So you still have the same security but YOU choose what has access and what dosent. Not Sprint or Bell etc. It is quite annoying using google maps (among other programs) when every time you zoom in or use a feature that requires one of the phones services like multimedia and it only asks if you want to "allow this time" or "never allow". In a lot of forums like howard forums etc. where people were posting this problem, most people would come to the conclusion that there was no way around it. Well I found the way. :ty:

if someone turns their phone into a paperweight on this 'hack' you deserve it. even deleting the policy text wouldnt cause that issue.

this lil hack does a lot more than just whats been mentioned as well :)

it was better left not posted on a public forum as now sprint will change this in future models...

oh im sure you're right. so much gets ruined by posting on public forums. :indiff:

some people just like helping out.. others think they might be considered cool by releasing info.. eh.. whatever.

as for the nai feature... theres a reason im still keeping my older a900s as well ;)
