I have been with Sprint for over 6 years. I recently had a mm7400. Had a major problem with it, and Sprint replaced it....with an mm8300! A downgrade, by any stretch of the imagination. And i won't even go into how the store treated me. i went to another store, where an assistant manager said she would switch me into an mm7500, that should have been done in the first place. Well, when the other store, being the only store here in Columbus, OH having mm7500's, found out that it was for me, after lying to me and being very rude and obnoxious, they refused to transfer the phone to her store, and actually would not give her any 7500's after that, even for new customers would have to go to the other store to get one. After 100's of minutes used up to call many CSR's, calling corporate, Calling retention, only to be offered many apologies, was told only that it was up to the stores descretion, and to go back to them. I finally called after a break of about a month, got to someone in CS that seemed to want to help, but she ended up transferring me to retentions, and they said that we can help you cancel your service!! I then said how can they want to have a customer cancel service, instead of satisfying a customer. She finally offered to have my mm7400 cost toward another phone, I would just have to pay the difference. I went through alot of stress and anger to even get that. What I would like to know is if anyone knows how I can keep the 8300 as a backup phone for my trouble, instead of returning it. Or will by account be charged for it if I don't? Any input would be appreciated!!!

Your account will be charged for it. the only way to be able to keep phones is if they credit your account for it. There is no way that they are going to let you keep that seeing as they just sent it out to you.

btw 7400 is not considered higher than the 8300.....they're about equal in today's terms.

Yes, other than the screen sized being different, they are generally about the same. BUT, the casing on the 7400 is much different than the 8300. One of the main selling points for the 7400 was the durability of the reinforced construction of the outer phone casing. The reinforced hinges, the rubber coating, the heavier plastic. Sanyo knew what they were doing. But, low and behold when it comes to replacing the phone, the selling point of the casing, which is a part of the construction of the phone, magically becomes "cosmetic" as Sprint reps claim, which reps at Sanyo scoff at. When it comes to selling the phone, you are told one thing, but when it comes to giving a phone that matches the durability and construction, it changes and doesn't matter any more. A little consistency would be refreshing for a change. The difference in the outer casing of the 7400 and the 8300 is like the difference between a Chevette and a Cadillac. One is made thicker, heavier, and will withstand a major collision, while the other breaks on impact. Not comparing the inside and amenities, just the outer construction!!

Welcome to my world, Sprint pulls variations of this sh*t on nearly all their customers. They don't have a clue (as a general rule) what good customer service is. Try calling executive services again and ask them about keeping the phone for your trouble. Is your time dealing with these rascals worth something. I think it is....... ;) :)

i don't think they're observation is based on outer casing....and it shouldn't be

Wayne 1, thanks for the support. This is very poor customer service. Having been in customer service since my Marine Corps days in 1995, until the present, Sprint is one of the few companies that I have ever dealt with in all of my years of GIVING excellent customer service that has a bunch of whiners and apologizers, but very, very sparse on anyone that will actually DO anything!!! And Ree, I could give 2 SH*ts about Internet speed, which is one of the few differences from the 7400 to the 7500. The heavy, durable casing that I bought the phone for in the first place is continued in the 7500, and should have been given to me. How can an assistant manager at another store, a new store within the past 6 months, agree with me and tell me that Sprint KNOWS that this a questionable replacement, unless she is being truthful, or is a wack-job. I believe she was being HONEST, which at the original store the were everything but honest, like those used car salesmen at those little shady lots around town. "Yeah it gets 32 miles to the gallon. Yeah, I know its a 72 cadillac, but that was the year they made the pistons shorter so there would be more combustion at a greater frequency, thus the better gas mileage! Cadillac was ahead of there time in 72" Yeah and J-Lo was smaching my A** last night with a cold, wet halibut while giving me the hummer of a lifetime!!! Oh and Santa and the easter bunny were in the corner watching!!!

Did the rep actually send you a return kit? If not they want you to keep the old phone and they will give you a credit on your bill for the new one. Atleast that's what I interpretted from your your post.

ehh....not quite.

just do the honest thing, request the return kit, and have piece of mind that you wont get billed full price for the phone later on.

the first option for exchanging a phone with sprint is the same model. so if they didn't have the 7400 that is why they went to the 8300. sprint didn't sell a lot of the 7400 that is why they are not availible to order from the warehouse most of the time. second, i have seen more 7400 with broken hinges than 8300 and sprint has sold a lot more 8300 than 7400. just because you got sold by a sales rep when you bought the phone doesn't mean that you r being lied to now. my advice to u would just wait for the 8400 because it is going to be awesome and send back the 8300 because they will bill it to your acct.
