I've been with Sprint for about 3 years and have never upgraded my phone. So I called retention and said I'd like to upgrade. The guy was very nice and he looked up everything to see if he could add it. This was my 3rd phone call btw.
My old plan was $40 1000 F&C 8pm N&W.
He did the AAP thing for $10 and have me 7pm nights plus free m2m. I got the a900 for 79.99 (all instant, no rebates in the mail) and I also got a $29.99 phone as a second line to share the minutes. When I asked him about the 10% loyalty discount, he typed something and said that the system will only let him put in either the 10% or make the second phone free. I asked for the credit and he said OK.
Today I called back to confirm that everything was done. The CS rep confirmed everything but the loyalty discount. I told her what had happened and she informed me that discounts weren't stackable. I know that's BS and assured her that it was, in fact, put on the account. She checked the notes and said "The rep said that he couldn't give you the 10% loyalty discount but he gave you a $29.99 credit making the phone free... along with a temporary credit for the amount of your last bill."
What's the deal with this temporary credit?
And is there any way to get the loyalty discount without waiting another 2 years since I resigned the contract?
Any help and wisdom is appreciated, thank you!

Sprint systems will only allow certain discounts. If you take one offer the others disapear. It is stupid but ... However you might be able to get a monthly discount through your employeer.

See if you can get the AAP free...with your bill it ends up being more than 10% anyway.

The temp credit was pro'lly given cause phones can't be sent out with a past due balance. Ya the plan that you are on is a loyalty plan, and loyalty codes can't be stacked, and there isn't really an option for $0 aap unless you don't mind getting charged per min on that line, cause it won't share. :(

I have two lines with shared minutes.
I was paying $50 for 1000 minutes on the first line and $20 for the second line. After innumerable phone calls with them they gave me the second line for free- ( I had only asked tha tthe charge be reduced to $10. per month for the 2nd line but didnt argue when they gave it to me for free.
I was told I would get a 10% loyalty discount as well- ( in an email) but then later told I could not get that as well.
They also gave me free roaming ( again after innumerable calls and emails) but took away the 7 pmnights which I had. I was willing to give up the 7 pm nights as we never use all our minutes anyway and most of the after 7 pm calls are mobile to mobile which is also free.
It was a hassle- but I reduced my monthly cost by $20 per month ( actually $19.00 per month since I have a 5% business discount)and traded 7 pm nights for free roaming.
Thus over the next two years I will save almost $500- which isnt too shabby- but frankly it was such a hassle that it left a bad taste in my mouth- as they kept making offers and then reneged on them.
Of course Im giving some of it back as Sprint really screws current customers when they get new phones ( even with the $150 credit)
Unless Sprint's customer service and integrity improves in the next two years I will probably go else where when my contract expires if I can find something comparable to what I have for a competitive price

hmm i have heard of this happening lots of times. infact for most the accounts i view i would have to say only about one in every three of the accounts over 4 years old have any kind of loyalty discount on the MRC however 2 yearold accounts hardly every have any nor do three year accounts... im not saying it doesnt happen im just saying its rare because in year three most people are more interested in upgrading the phone then the discount. because the other entries were right as far as my understanding of our systems. there may be a few choices on save efforts but their just that choices not combinations. if you accept one of the choices you are exempt from the others until a period of time... im not sure what that period of time is though.

I got to make something very clear.
Alot of these times its not that the rep was lying but they changed the system so much over the past few months that its next to impossible to get all these offer we normally offered. Problem then arises retention reps get new training once every 6 months. I dont think you understand the volume changes they do. On top of that there are now backdoor systems that they are also limitting. to add to it Sprint is working on a newer system without loopholes and I can only imagine the carnage to follow when you only get 1 loyality/maximize or discount offer. Dont kill me I aint even the messanger
